"Cancerhead"For more info on UAE, check out the Yahoo Group "Embo". Forget all the horror stories on the web. Most important is to find and experienced radiologist, and you will be fine. ddd |

"Cancerhead"Hi, Just a note on fibroids. Make sure you try to get UAE (uterine artery embolization). I had this procedure for three large fibroids and now two years later, I have a perfectly flat stomach. Easy recovery, overnight hospital. Don't get talked into anything too invasive when it may not be necessary. Also, they say that when the procedure is sucessful, even if there are any cancer cells in the fibroid, those die along with the fibroid. Bottom line, fibroids are not related to breast cancer. ddd |

Bras and breast forms you loveH everyone, I am one of the original Pals advocates. I have had mine for two years. They are not my only forms, but I use them a lot. As for how they hold up to washing and soap - I wash mine when necessary with just a neutral bar soap, and they get very tacky once again. They are as godd as new to this day. The best thing for me, when I first got them, was how comfortable they are on tender skin. I highly recommend them at the very least as a back-up pair. And as I said before the price can't be beat for something indestructable ( no rupturing). ddd |

DCIS with comedo necrosisAurora, As I understand it, tamoxifen is to reduce risk of BC in the remaining breast. I did not want to take tamoxifen or do radiation, so I chose bilateral masts for my DCIS. ddd |

DCIS with comedo necrosisCurious. My final excisional pathology was DCIS Grade 2 with comedo necrosis. It seems like that is quite rare. Almost everyone with comedo necrosis seems to have Grade 3. I really don't understand the distinction when comedo necrosis is present. I chose aggressive treatment(bi-lat mast) so as not to have to deal with this again. So I guess in my case it probably no longer matters. Still, I am curious about the Grade 2 vs. Grade 3 when comedo necrosis is present in either case. Hmm... ddd |

Foam breast forms? The Pals forms maintain fullness at the top because they are a more solid material. They are not made to have a "natural" drape like most silicone forms. They are indestructable and inexpensive enough to give them a try. In fact mine were too full at the top for my taste, and the company told them to just trim them down, which I did. |

Amoena Tria PlusUpdate. I found a pair of Tria Plus in my size, still available on the internet, but it wasn't easy. Apparently Amoena has changed "hands" again, thus the new product emphasis and consequent discontinuation of other items. There was an e-mail address on the updated site. I wrote, to ask if they would continue to offer the skin supports for those who still use the form. Of course, I haven't heard back from them. I wrote to the company once before about swimsuits for small women, and was ignored. Why do they even bother putting up e-mail addresses. So phoney!!! They don't care about us, only look at us as a BIG business. |

Exercise bad for silicone prosthesesThe Pals forms are also good for exercise, even contact sports! They are virtually indestructable and cheap. You can wash them and towel them dry. Foam forms of course are lighter and that might be better for some people. |

Amoena Tria PlusOMG. I haven't been to the forums for a long time, only to get this news. I am the one who loves the Tria Plus. I don't know how I will be able to cope without it. Wow, this is horrible. I don't know what I am going to do. I use this form almost all the time. Help! ddd |

Glucosomine?MSM works for pain in some people, but maybe not for all. If glucosamine alone isn't enough, you can always try adding the MSM. If you do a Google search, you can get more info on MSM. |

Glucosomine?I can highly recommend Move Free with MSM that I get from Costco. The tablets are 1500mg. Glucosamine with 1500mg. MSM. I take three a day. |

Let's conduct our own study on how we all got breast cancerWell, I was never naughty, so I'll debunk that theory. However, I would like to go back to the DDT/insecticide issue. I grew up in mosquito country, most certainly exposed to plenty of DDT spraying in the summers, then there was the constant spraying of "Off" all summer long, and lets not forget the insecticides and fertilizers our dad put all over the lawns.....jeez. Today I can hardly bring myself to pick up a can of House and Garden more than once a couple of months, that kind of stuff really scares me. On the other hand, I had plenty of Barbies too!! LOL!!!! |

The new research on being slimMe too, quite thin and exercised all my life, no family history, drink more now than ever in my life - may as well have some fun as depriving myself didn't do any good anyway. I look at it as a constant effort to turn attention away from all the toxins we have been and are continually exposed to. Make the victims feel responsible for their fate so they don't fight the big business of pumping the environment full of chemicals. |

Help Needed For Women who have undergone MastectomyOh, I almost forgot...how many of you also have this pet peeve: These bra/swimsuit manufacturers never use models that have had mastectomies and are wearing breast forms. The clothes don't fit or look the same! Duh!! There are plenty of attractive women with mastectomies that could model for these companies. Makes me realize that it it is more about money than about helping people. |

Help Needed For Women who have undergone MastectomyHi, I am one of those Size 2 girls who can't get a suit. Really depressing. I still have a fairly good figure and would like to go to the beach one of these days. It's been more than a year. Also the bra thing...geez I ordered one beautiful looking seamless bra via internet, size 34 A. Not only did my Size 2 A/B prosthesis not even fill it out, but the proportions were all wrong for a petite woman. My husband saw me after I tried it on and said "You can't wear that!" It really looks comical on me. I am now using the Amoena Tria Plus attachable breast form so I can wear normal bras. Of course not all bras work, but I can find more non-mast bras than mast bras that are comfortable and attractive and make me feel good. Something is wrong here!!! |

Flu VaccinationsJust to add... They says your lymph nodes will not swell if you get a flu shot - not true, so don't freak out. Last year I got my first flu vaccine. It was given in the hip and I had a lymph node in the groin that was swollen for almost three weeks after. I had never had a node swell in that area and I was less than a year from diagnosis - and did that ever mess with my head until it went away. I was convinced I had cancer throughout my whole body! This year at least I won't be surprised. |

Surgery...this weekj, Yes, excisional is the same as open breast with needle placement. Sorry, if I caused any confusion. |
