Bimmer gets hate mail.Oh, Bimmer...how ugly of someone to say things to you that doesn't concern them. Since breast cancer, my husband and I have talked a lot about the big "what if." I adore him, and I want him to be happy always - he has certainly made me happy. I can't imagine him without companionship and I have several single friends who would be wonderful for him. Live your life, Bimmer. Diane wouldn't want anything less. |

positive lymph nodesHi Elaine, I wouldn't have made it through without an antidepressant. My last treatment was 18 months ago and I am off the antidepressant. Also, when I was first diagnosed I got some anti-anxiety medication. Better living through chemistry. We are lucky enough to live in a time when we can get the help we need. Go for it, Girl! |

lymph nodeThank you for responding! And, Beth, I hope your treatments are going well...I had AC/Taxol for my breast cancer, so I know what you're going through. |

lymph nodeHi, my sisters, My niece has just been diagnosed, and it came about strangely. I am 400 miles away, so I'm no sure of the veracity of the information. She had a swollen lymp gland under her arm for a couple of weeks. She was treated with antibiotics, but finally a biopsy was done. She was told that cancer cells had been discovered in the lymph nodes. She had had a suspicious mammogram about three months prior, but on US showed NED. She has had a breast MRI and no masses can be seen, but the few cells in the lymph node are definitely breast cancer cells. Tomorrow she will see a surgeon to discuss options. Have any of you heard of this? It seems backwards to me! |

Does a mastectomy cause shoulder arthritis?I had a mastectomy two years ago and developed frozen shoulder. I went to an orthopod, who diagnosed it, and sent me for some physical therapy. That really seemed to help and mine is totally okay now. The physical therapist said that it is not an unusual ailment after breast surgery. I think the discomfort lasted for about four to six months and now is gone. Hang in there! |

Need tips on AdriamycinI found that Tangerine sour Altoids helped keep the dogs of nausea at bay. But if it gets ahead of her, she may need some rehydration with IV fluids.

Port QuestionI had mine taken out about a month after chemo. Often ports are sites of infection because they have to be flushed. My onc and surgeon wanted mine out because of that fact.

Hair DyeMine came back in elephant - sort of black, gray, brown, and gave off no light. I had it colored by my hair dresser and am a much happier camper.

The Good DeathOh, Saluki...thanks for the info. My mom had hospice and she just loved her caretakers and it gave my sister a break.
I am an RN and actually applied to Hospice, but got breast cancer before I could get the new job, and for insurance purposes, that was a blessing. But I so believe in the values of hospice and how much it means to the patients and families! |

sentinel node mapping and painI had the SNB mapping before my mastectomy and I don't remember it hurting at all. The surgeon removed my breast, the SNB and four additional nodes, none of which were positive (thanks be to God!).
Good luck and you are in my thoughts and prayers, sista! |

lung nodules?I had one show up on CT as well when I was diagnosed in January, 2006. Nothing showed up on the PET. On my post-treatment scans, it was unchanged in December of 2006 and didn't show up at all on either of my PET scans.
But, I'm like you...anything that is a nodule, cyst, whatever, scares the pants off of me!! |

How Do You Handle Constipation? When my onc asked me what was the worst thing about TX, I told him that it was the constipation. When it got so bad I had to use my second year student nursing skills (the digital dig) I thought I was close to death!!!
Didn't take any pain RX, but was on Lexapro, and the constipation miraculously disappeared when chemo was over. Thanks be to God. Hooray for poopage! |

Where is WTH?Oh, thank goodness. Someone else watches Top Chef. On my bad days when I was having chemo, I would watch hours of Project Runway (I don't sew) and Top Chef (and I'm not much of a cook) hour upon hour. And yahoo! It's Wednesday and it comes on tonight!!

To dog lovers.....Oh, Barb...don't feel hesitant about writing of your love for Murphy. My lab, Sadie, is 15 years old and deaf, but she is having a wonderful time - still dances around when it's time to eat. Our 8 year old Mattie (golden retriever and border collie mix) is her service dog and is never far from her side.
They were a big part of my healing during dhemo and I love them dearly. I work at a Catholic hospital with a beautiful chapel and I am going there right now to say a prayer for you and Murphy. Dugs Rule! |
