hypothyroidism

hey
My thyroid was damaged from rads too. I'm still trying to get the proper dosage of synthroid. I'm on 1 mcg now and was brought there very gradually. Do any of you feel a thickening in the throat?

blood transfusion.....

Hi Deb
I was also scared to have a transfusion but it does wonders for the anemia. You will gain some strength from it. The odds are really slim these days of getting something else. As for administration it is easier than chemo hon. Be well and hope you can make the decision you are comfortable with.

Anxious and Scared Stage III

Hi Dancer
I was stage three also and did TAC. Keeping hydrated is extremely important. Bullion helped me tolerate fluids. Hang in there cause the chemo does wondrous things. I empathize with the struggle but you will one day put this in the rear view mirror. Stay strong you can beat this bugger.

Chemo before Masectomy?

Shari
I had chemo first and it worked so well that they couldn't even palpate the tumors. then mast and tram and rads.
Chemo first was good for me Shari and I wish you the best of luck.
Be well

Trams

Teresa
I had a tummy tram same day as mast. It is a good long recovery- but if you are young it is your own tissue. Can't tell you whether or not to go for it such a personal decision. It is very hard to do when you never heard of these things before. Good Luck hon and be well.

Anyone develop a seroma?

Hi
I had mast with tram (tummy) and developed seroma that was drained many times. Many cc's of fluids were drained off. I do have a little concavity where they aspirated but nothing I can't live with. I can't imagine not having it drained but I guess we are all different. My surgeon didn't seem alarmed by the actually process. It didn't hurt me at all cause I have lost the feeling in the"new " breast.
Hope all goes well with you all

mastectomy and immediate reconstruction

Sylvia
I had chemo first but did mast and tummy tram same day then rads. So I guess the plastic surgeons all work differently. But he new the rads would shrink the flap some. Anyway I don't envy the choice they are hard to make good Luck

A beautiful letter from C.T.G.'s Mom

Peggy
Thank you for sharing the letter with us all. I know what you mean about a break from it all.
I feel so lucky Laura took so few breaks even when feeling so badly. She had more stamina in one pinky than I have in my whole being. A true gift from above. She is greatly missed by me for sure. What a beautiful message from her Mom.
Than you Peggy

Radiation Damaged My Thyroid

Dear Chattie
Same happened here.
I'm on synthroid too and still am not regulated. It takes time. Make sure you get an endocrinologist. Keep the blood test copies of the TSH, FreeT3 and 4. Did you have radioactive iodine treatment?
Good Luck and be well
