My insurance company asked for WHAT!?!?!?!

Is your insurance company Blue Cross?  My plastic surgeon  has an entire photo spreadsheet of all my surgeries, before and after.  All for the insurance company.  My first breast surgery was breast reduction.. he took pictures and submitted to my insurance company.  Cancer was found in the tissue removed from the reduction.  I now have an implant and have had several more pictures taken in the process.  Well ,  just be thankful you don't work for the insurance company, like I do.

Are Mammograms really the answer?

No,  mammograms aren't the answer.  I have been getting mammograms since I was 35, now 50.   January 2005 I had my yearly mammogram and as usual they told me everything looks good. Five months later (May 2005) I had breast reduction surgery.. and there it was .9 Invasive Lobular carcinoma. I had a right mastectomy as I wasn't healing well from the reduction surgery and did not want to wait 6-8 weeks to heal.   That breast reduction possibly saved my life, not  a mammogram. Now my breast surgeon orders a digital mammogram and Breast MRI yearly.  Get every  breast image test that you possibly can. If one fails perhaps the other will reveal something.

anyone with a new lump on tamoxifen

I was on tamoxifen and found a lump in my breast.  My breast surgeon ordered a mammo and performed an in office biopsy all in a matter of hours.  Upon removing the lump she said it didn't appear to be cancer, but she had to send it to the lab.  Results came back benign.

How many get transvaginal ultrasounds?

I use to get them yearly, the last one revealed a thickening of the endometrial lining and my onc  suggested having my ovaries removed so he could prescribe an AI and take me off tamoxifen.  Since I'm 49 I opted for a hysterectomy.  I had the surgery last month on the 19th.. all went well.  I saw my onc yesterday and he gave me a script for femera .

Failed Hysteroscopy and D&C

Yes, I have been menopausal for a long period of time. I was diagnoses with ovarian failure in my early 30's and I'm now 49. I doubt that I'm going to wait the 6 months to see if there is a change. Thanks Calico and Tender for the reply.

Failed Hysteroscopy and D&C

Hello ladies, I'm wondering if any of you have experienced this, because right now I'm pretty baffled. Here goes: I have been on Tamoxifen for 2.5 years. I get yearly transvaginal ultrasounds. Last year my uterine lining was measured as 3, this year's ultrasound revealed a measurement of 11. My gyn suggested a Hysteroscopy and D&C which I had a week and a 1/2 ago. She told my husband that she wasn't able to find an opening for the scope and therefore was unable to complete the Hysteroscopy and D&C . I met with her yesterday, post op and she told me the same thing, my uterus is shut down completely. She's pretty sure it's the side effect of tamoxifen. Her recommendations are 1) ask my onc to switch me to an AI and monitor the situation for 6 months to see if the lining thins out or 2) hysterctomy. I'm leaning towards the hysterectomy, but I'm going to meet with my Onc first before making a decision. Have any of you experienced anything like this and if so what was your outcome?

Peace and Blessings to each of you.

What's your ILC story?

I forgot to the add the specifics to my original post. The tumor was .9cm, stage 1, neg nodes.. ER 100%, PR - and HER-2 - . No Chemo or radiation since I opted for the mastectomy. Currently on Tamoxifen. I am just now getting my permanent implant on July 17th, 2007. I have to get the expander removed so I can have a MRI.

What's your ILC story?

I was diagnosed in May 2005 at the age of 47. I have had clean mammos since the age of 35 ( a benign biopsy at 35). My last clean mammo was January 2005. I had breast reduction surgery in May 2005. This is when my ILC was discoverd. My PS told me the news during my follow up visit.
