Bone Marrow METS

Greech,

My onc did a bone marrow biopsy on my hip.    I was awake for the beginning of the biopsy, then I believe they pushed more drugs in the IV.  I could hear them talking, but didn't care what they were saying.  I did not feel any pain.   My onc said it can be painful, but he believes that there is no reason someone should have pain during this procedure.

They may be using the meds to put you into the twilight zone because they are focusing on the L4 lumbar spine and want you absolutely still when the procedure is being done.

Hugs, Madison

Bone Marrow METS

Geech,

I'm so sorry to read this is happening to you.

I had a bone marrow biopsy in August.    I agree with Ozzie that there is a bit of pressure, pushing and shoving that you feel.   My onc first iced the area, then gave me IV pain meds and IV drugs to relax me.  There was no pain, just the pressure.   Please ask your onc to give you lots of IV meds.  The meds helped me sleep the rest of that day.

Good luck, I'm praying for you.......for all of you.

Mexaltrexate ? from AlaskaDeb's Husband

This question was posted in the Help Me Get Through Treatment Forum by AlaskaDeb's husband

Can anyone help John with the following question?

"Does anyone know anything about a side effect of Mexaltrexate where there is swelling in the frontal lob of the brain? Any treatments to reduce the swelling?"

Thanks

John
