considering lap-band surgeryI just went through all the pre-surgery appointments you have to do for a lap band if you want your insurance to cover it. I had a bilateral with tram so I was concerned about any other surgery. The surgeon for the lap band had actually done several trams before he started bariatric surgery. He was not concerned. My GP was not happy but thought if it would help my depression and quality of life she would help out with the insurance. The insurance turned me down because the surgeon was not in their bariatric network. They gave me the name of another surgeon but said they had to have a letter from my GP saying my medical reasons for getting the surgery. She said she would help me but now it is to late for surgery this year. I have a $2500 deductible and since dx we are broke so it looks like I am back to square one. I actually think I am kind of relieved I now have an excuse not to do the surgery. I am not sure if that is because of the surgery or the fact that I won't be able to eat. My friend had the surgery 4 years ago and couldn't be happier with her decision. She did have to pay cash. san diego areaPageroo-welcome to the club. Can't wait to meet you. LisaSDCA-Glad you got up there safe. It has been raining here all night now. I have some really bad news. My dh's brother died early this morning from a massive heart attack. He was only 52. I am waiting for dh to get home from the hospital now. He is a wreck to say the least. Now he has lost his brother and his father. Telling the kids is going to be awful. My oldest adores his uncle. I didn't know where else to go or who to talk to in the middle of the night so I came here and to the Circle at the Gina's site. You are such a part of my family. My mom was admitted to the hospital yesterday in New York. She was having terrible pain around her kidneys. They did a ct scan but we don't know anything yet. I know He only gives us as much as we can take but sometimes you just have to wonder how much that will be. san diego areaI prefer a margarita with some really good tequila and on the rocks. Sylvia I think you me and Susan should go have a few. Chili's has the best margarita's I have had in a long time. They are way to expensive though. We are all in God's caring hands, BrendaBMD Dx 7/14/2006, IDC, 2cm, Stage IIa, 0/10 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2- |

I Quit! The referrals my pcp gave me are psychiatrists. My mistake. I would also like to clear up that I don't just lay in bed everyday. It just hurt to know my 7 year old felt that way sometimes. I do however lay in bed much, much more than I ever did before bc. I will be calling the numbers I received from my pcp today. She was concerned that she was not treating me with the correct drug or dosage of the drug. She has been trying to get me to see someone since my dx in 2006. I guess my black hole finally got deep enough that she insisted on it now. We are all in God's caring hands, BrendaBMD Dx 7/14/2006, IDC, 2cm, Stage IIa, 0/10 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2- |

I Quit!Femara almost 2 years. Depression out of control. Aches, pains, weight gain out of control. Quality of life is horrible. My 7 year old announced last week that all I ever do was lay in bed. My onc says get used to it. My pcp just gave me a list of psychologists to check out. I initially agreed to take the AI so I would be around for my kids to grow up. What kind of mom am I now? Should they have to suffer through their adolescence and puberty with a mom like this? I just don't know the answer but I keep taking that pill every night and my Effexor every day. san diego areaHappy Birthday SoCal. Love ya. Sylvia-I am sorry to hear about your Uncle. I know it was a troubling situation for you. I don't think I will be going to Jodi's service. I have a commitment for my kids school that day in Encinitas but the time block is about the same as the service. It is at a restaurant and bar so I shall toast her memory and damn this disease all at once. Jodi (Jodian)Jodi was so sweet to be around. She loved that baby so much. I ran into her and Zoe at Game Stop one day last summer. She looked so tired you could tell she just wanted to rest and stop fighting. Jodi was dx with mets in several places. When I saw her in the summer she had just finished radiation to her neck and hip and was hoping for a break for awhile. I know they were moving that week-end to an apartment that was close to her onc so she did not have to drive so much. I tried to call her and email her shortly after that and she never got back to me. The people who new her loved her. She was even in the local paper when the day care she worked at held a fund raiser for her and her family. There is no pain where she is now. Lord be with her always. anyone who's had a tram flapI had a bilateral with immediate tram in 2006. Although the muscle thing has not been a problem for me I do know if you are going to be going thru chemo you might want to wait for the tram surgery. I had mine before chemo and I think it just made it a lot harder. It is quite a surgery to recover from and then to add the chemo SE's on top of it was pretty rough. I made it through though so if you decide to you will too. Have you talked to a surgeon that can do the DIEP surgery or a muscle sparring tram. I had the pedicle tram only because my ps was a pioneer in it and because I have small children I could not travel to another area of the surgery. Good luck in whatever you decide. Sorry you are going through this but you came to the right place for information, love and support. We are all in God's caring hands, BrendaBMD |
