Hi Michelle,

The Coronation Chicken (what a great story to go with it!) turned out perfectly.  We even have a bit left over for lunch.

Thanks again!

Oh, I'm so excited to find your recipe!   It happens I have all the ingredients and will whip it up tomorrow.

We had this at a church dinner in Oxford several years ago and loved it.  We were there on a sabbatical and had attended the church in the morning and were invited to the potluck later in the day.  I couldn't think of what to take as our contribution so I bought graham biscuits (crackers) chocolate bars and marshmallows and turned out s'mores in the church kitchen microwave.  A big hit with the younger set and some of their dads as well.

 Thanks so much, Michelle,

Carol

The Road to Hell . . . (or "Laughter is the Best Medicine")

I'd recommend taking it completely apart...toss the stand...fill every vase in the house with little bouquets and voila, huge inappropriate arrangement is history.

A similar thing turned up on our doorstep too and was full of my most hated flowers...lilies.  Those hit the trash can first!  But I loved the end result...sort of lemonade from lemons thing.

Hi Mimi1030

How about Coronation Chicken?  I had it in Oxford about four years ago and loved it.

Kari is our latest Angel

Such terrible, terrible news.  In my mind she was off on vacation with her family and we were sending cards for her to find when they returned.

Please give her husband and children as well as her extended family my heartfelt sympathy.

Light a Candle for Joanne1428

Some, including me, have lit their candles using the first box for Joanne's initials.

We're all thinking about you Joanne and sending strength and love to you and your family.

Hi Marisa,

Denisa just told me the link to the pictures was here and though I can see teensy ones, how do I make them larger?
(If Denisa sees this she will tell me how to do it, I'm sure.)

Can't wait to really see the photos!

Please give Pat my best and love to all of you,

Carol (and Brian too)

2003 reunion

I just tried to get into the chat and couldn't...and I'm guessing you're all there.

So, just know I'm thinking about you and eating several pieces of this great chocolate in honor of the gathering. Sorry not to be able to share it!! But you know, I meant to!

2003 reunion

Hi Everyone,

Please let me know where to find you later tonight!I want very much to celebrate your FOUR year anniversary and remember when we first met, Barb, in Cold Spring...along with Sunshine, Susie and Arlette, Rosebud, Fleur, Phyllis, Denisa, Leelee, Lilee, Patti, Marinza, Laura, Velma, and dear Ann....I think that's everyone!

I've just celebrated my 5th anniversary and am always ready for a party! I do think dark chocolate is one of the basic food groups, isn't it...so I'll bring some from our recent trip to Switzerland.

love to all,

Carol

2003 reunion

Hi Everyone,

How nice to get re-connected. The first gathering we attended was in Cold Spring, NY. I still look at those pictures of our luncheon and the gift exchange. And it would be wonderful to get together again...but virtually is good too.

We're fine. The usual scares come and thankfully, go! We're involved with our kids and grands and soon will have a new one from Korea. And we're heeding my onc's advice..."Don't postpone your dreams. Do it now!" So we're off to Belgium and Holland next month and to England in July.

See you at the party on the 28th!

love to all,

Carol

EZ Stuffed Mushroom Canapes

Wow, these sound perfect! I'm always looking for interesting vegetarian recipes that will make our son-in-law confirm me as mother-in-law of the year!

Thanks for sending it.

Funny Names

This makes me think of certain restaurants too.

My all-time favorite is "Terminal Lunch." (It's next door to the train station.) And then there's the little place in West Virginia called "The Sanitary Hotdog."

And a local dentist is Dr. Smyle! And Dr. Cutts, the surgeon.

Sharon looks beautiful! Thanks so much for posting the pictures so quickly, Peggy and Lilia.

I'm sure Mark would like a framed copy, Lilia. Loved your comments!!

We haven't been to CVS yet to check out our pictures. Our ailing computer won't permit us access them.

Phyllis, how nice to hear from you. We had a grand time on Sunday and it was all due to Denisa's planning....the rest of us just got to enjoy what she'd arranged.

I'm sure we'll hatch another plan for a get-together, perhaps in the spring as we did this past April.

Any er/pr/her2 neg. ppl this year?

Hi Linda,

I have understood that chemo works well for those of us who are ER/PR negative and have taken great comfort from it. It does take awhile to be confident that we are going to be well again...but it does happen.

This site has been a real lifeline for me. I have great husband and family and friend support but there's something about hearing from those who have "been there" that makes a huge difference.

I wish I knew how to refer you to a thread specifically about er/pr negative survivors but I don't. I hope some of the more computer savvy ones will tell us how to find that. It began a few months ago. I'd like to read it again.

Any er/pr/her2 neg. ppl this year?

Hi Linda,

Yes, I too am ER/PR and Her2 neu negative and was the same age as you are when I was diagnosed. I just celebrated my third year as a survivor!

Did you have any node involvement? What treatment did you have following diagnosis? I had a lumpectomy, axillary node dissection, AC and seven weeks of radiation.

It takes awhile for the constant worry to recede...and become just occasional worry. Keep posting...it certainly helps.

And, a little plug for my daughter...do you see CURE magazine? She wrote a (we think) wonderful article about how much bc.org has meant to me, to all of us really. It's in this current issue and includes our pictures!
