VATS or lobectomyHi all. Well,I had the surgery. It turned out to be a new lung primary! What are the chances of that? Stage I. Onc is trying to decide whether to do chemo or not. Stage 1 but poorly differentiated and my BC is trip negative and very aggressive. Home from hospital and feeling OK. Thanks for all prayers. Back from the Outer Banks of North CarolinaWe have a lot in common. In early September I too went to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, for the first time ever. We went to Corolla. I loved it!!! Loved the ocean, smells, sounds, shells, lighthouse, wild horses..loved every minute. I also have a daughter who is expecting her third child. She is due on Halloween. I know what you mean about not thinking you'd be there! Take care and when you get down, think of the beach! Joyce Dx 8/8/2006, IDC, 2cm, Stage IIb, Grade 3, 1/1 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2- |

VATS or lobectomyThanks so much Katbob! So, you had a triple negative cancer and when mets was found in your lungs, it was hormone receptor positive? I will definitely ask about receptor testing on the nodule. I am horrified at the thought of going to the OR, yet once again. And then, most likely, to wake from surgery to hear that I am either stage IV or have a new primary lung CA. Say a prayer for me please! VATS or lobectomyHi all. I have a nodule that was found on PET/CT scan in my lung. I am scheduled to undergo VATS versus lobectomy, depending on whether the cancer is biopsy proven to be breast mets or a primary lung. Has anyone undergone VATs? How's the pain after surgery? Did you have any complications or problems that I should be aware of? Thanks! Joyce Dx 8/8/2006, IDC, 2cm, Stage IIb, Grade 3, 1/1 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2- |

CT guided lung biopsyHi. Well, the procedure was not done. The interventional radiologist that was going to perform the procedure said that he was not comfortable at all that he could get enough tissue to biopsy. He said the nodule is small, 8 mm, and located right behind a rib. He also said that he thought the chance of my getting a lung collapse was about 99%. He said the risks to me far outweighed the benefits which would be getting enough tissue to send to pathology. He said he thought a VATS procedure would be more effective...go in and take the entire nodule out. Sooo, here we go again. Waiting to have this set up. Anyone had a VATS??? New and Scared....I had the genetic testing done also and thankfully was negative for BRCA1 and BRCA2. I have a grown daughter and two granddaughters and I sure don't want them to be at increased risk of getting BC. The ovarian specialist is a good idea. Chemo put me into menopause so I really should have the ovaries removed, I don't need them for anything anymore! I have found that, in my case anyhow, I have to be very aggressive in my health care. I have to ask for, and sometimes almost demand, scans. Right now I am awaiting a CT guided lung biopsy for a nodule that was seen on a PET scan that my doctor insisted I did not need. I won that argument, Thank God! I am praying that it is not cancer, I really don't want to do this all over again! But, if that is what the biopsy shows, then I have no choice. That is one thing that really pisses me off about the cancer.....your choices are taken away from you. You either do it or face the alternative. New and Scared....Kelly, I am glad you found this site! It is an awesome group of ladies that post here. I was diagnosed triple negative, grade 3, micromets to one node, stage IIB in August of 2006. I was shocked. Always had my mammos, no family history. I walked around in a daze for a long time. First thing I did (other than crying) was to jump online and went to 'cancer college' I learned everything I possibly could about this nasty beast. It does get easier, I promise! Before you know it your chemo will be over. One day you willl wake up and your first thought won't be cancer. It takes time but it will happen. Just take it one day at a time and sometimes one hour at a time. Hang in there....better days are just ahead! Joyce triple negative august 2006 grade 3 stage IIB. |

CT guided lung biopsyHi! I was diagnosed with trip negative BC in 2006, stage IIB. PET scan showed nodule in lung. Had follow up CT scan and this showed 8 mm nodule. Now, the plan is for CT guided lung biopsy. I am terrified. If anyone that has had this procedure could share their experience I would so appreciate it! Thanks. I should add that I am a WUSS when it comes to needles. Joyce |
