Any Northern Virginia ladies on this discussion board? Thanks for the reminders Bonnie and Nancy! Not saying I'll remember later though!!! Bonnie - did you or will you be doing reconstruction? wondering what your thoughts are on all the choices. I had immediate recon, expander, silicone implant and a lift on the "healthy" boob. Looked great till I gained weight from thyroid issues and had rads - one went up and one went back down!! Nancy - 12/5 will be here before you know it! Please know we are here for you and you have all of our home emails - please don't hesitate to contact all of us if you need something! I'm sure that one or more will be able to break away and come over for whatever you need!! Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine! TendinitisJeez EWB!!! I'm not on any estrogen suppression meds (did some Tamoxifen with 1st dx) but I'm post meno so there's still a lack!! I didn't even think about about that!! Daffodil - tendonitis because of having a mast? The list just keeps growing!! Lucy - too bad it's your index finger and not the middle one!!! Hope everyone is feeling good despite these "things" we now have to deal with! Dawn Dx 12/1/2005, IDC stage I, Grade 3, 0/5 nodes, ER+/PR+/HER2+ Dx 3/28/2007, IDC, 3cm, Grade 3, ER-/PR-, HER2+ |

Any Northern Virginia ladies on this discussion board? Thanks Nancy! I'll be praying for your surgery! WIll your son be available to take you/bring you home or to his house etc? I can't for the life of me remember what they'll be doing in your surgery, so please remind me? I got my port out yesterday!! My mom's ct scan came back from her 2nd chemoembolization for metastatic bile duct cancer - no shrinkage of any tumors and there is a small one in her pancreas now too. Very discouraging. The oncologist said to take the next month and get her strength back up and then they'll discuss any other treatments to try. Unfortunately, this is a rare and very lethal cancer and most people don't make it for more than a year to 15 months. Mom was diagnosed in January. My father-in-law isn't doing much better with his multiple myeloma. The radiation is helping the pain but apparently one of the doctors told his wife that he has small fractures all over his body. The doctor did not tell this to my father-in-law. So, we will do what we need to do to support both of them - this sucks. Hope everyone is having a good week. TendinitisNo cancer is good news Sheri!! At this point, I'd just about rather hear "anything" but the C word. Although, I'm sure there are other things just as terrifying....................... Good luck with the cortisone shot - I sure am hoping it does the trick! Lucy - I overextended my wrist moving a couch and ended up with tendnoitis. I don't imagine yours would be the result of treatment but I do believe our systems are so busy fighting the cancer and dealing with chemo and other treatments that we are more susceptible to other illnesses and injuries.....................just my thoughts. Any Northern Virginia ladies on this discussion board? Thanks Bonnie! You are done with taxol now right? On to every 3 week herceptin? Are you having any radiation? I have a really bad case of CRS!! (can't remember _ _ _ _ !) Hope everyone had a great weekend! What a difference in weather from Saturday to Sunday! I was sweating outside cleaning up my front flower bed - unfortunately I'm not good at doing half one day and half the next - did it all on Saturday, w/breaks (even a nap after lunch!) but I sure paid for it on Sunday - headache and so very wiped out. Oh well. I feel like I accomplished something on my list and I got an extra hour of sleep to boot! Thanks for the reminders Nancy! Have a good week everyone! Any Northern Virginia ladies on this discussion board? Thanks Monique and Nancy! I'm sure we can all keep kicking each other into positive thoughts! My biggest relief is that I can worry more about my mom, father-in-law and grandma for the next three months or so till I have to see my onc again! (well, except for this hand surgery that is looming!!) Monique - you are getting closer every day to where I am right now and without needing herceptin, your hair will come back even faster!!! Nancy - I finished my last herceptin on August 5th and was told every 4 to 6 weeks to have my port flushed to keep it from clogging etc. With all the bloodwork and other tests I've had since then, I've only had to make 1 flush appt - has worked out pretty well. As long as I can arrange to have the port out by the week of Thanksgiving - I'm good to go!! I think I'll make the appt today and send an email to get the referral from my gp! Hope everyone is having a good week! Dawn Dx 12/1/2005, IDC stage I, Grade 3, 0/5 nodes, ER+/PR+/HER2+ Dx 3/28/2007, IDC, 3cm, Grade 3, ER-/PR-, HER2+ |

Any Northern Virginia ladies on this discussion board?Okay, let's talk about OVER!!! Saw my onc on Friday, clean ct scan on my chest, clean tumor markers - I CAN GET MY PORT OUT!!! WOO HOO!! Unfortunately, I have thoughts in the back of my head - WHEN is next? After hearing "you have cancer" two times and learning so much I am certainly not jumping up and down like I wish I could. December 1st marks my three year "cancerversary" for the first one.................. Okay, kick my butt into "happy" please!! at least I can get my port out!! Good luck on Thursday Nancy and Bonnie! good breast in need of a lift?I had a lift on my left breast when I had my exchange on the right to a silicone implant. Not really painful but somewhat less sensation. Looked great in a bra and naked until I had a recurrence in the reconstructed breast, had surgery, chemo and rads, gained 20 pounds (10 from chemo and 10 from the rads blowing my thyroid - I've lost 10 so far!) - the weight gain has drooped my healthy breast and the rads have firmed up the reconstructed one - about 1 1/2 inches difference! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr - VS ipex bra balances me out but I am considering another lift after I see if the radiated breast "softens" some with time. TendinitisSheri that sucks!! I am thinking prayers for patience to start with to handle the scanxiety and a b9 situation for you! Tendonitis sounds like the lesser of two evils for sure. Any Northern Virginia ladies on this discussion board?Go Nancy! Amazing sometimes what a "nice" complaint can do! Let us know how you like the stencils when you get them. I had ordered some from ........................... wherever the heck I ordered a few scarves from (damn chemo brain!) but found them difficult to use. Luckily, a few eyebrows remained so I had a line to go by! I know I ordered mostly from TLC but I swear I can't remember the other place!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Food and shopping sounds good to me! I think I picked the last date and place so I'll hush till you other ladies get a chance! Good luck today Nancy and Bonnie with your treaments! anyone else? Nancy, I think I am looking for an indian summer soon! (I am so behind with outdoor yard cleanup etc) I love the Fall though. Especially when it is cold out and I DON"T HAVE TO GET OUT OF BED!!! Radiation and Rib PainI was whining today about not being able to sleep on my mast/axillary dissection/radiation side because of rib pain (I completed rads mid January) and one of the ladies piped up that she still has rib pain 14 years out! I know things have changed a lot since then but I have not doubt it's from the radiation even if they keep saying they only radiate the boob or foob whichever you have.............................. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. pdm - ask them for silvadene and then soak in a warm tub, air dry and apply the prescription. See if that helps you. Dawn Dx 12/1/2005, IDC stage I, Grade 3, 0/5 nodes, ER+/PR+/HER2+ Dx 3/28/2007, IDC, 3cm, Grade 3, ER-/PR-, HER2+ |

TendinitisGlad to hear you got an appointment Sheri! The 27th will be here before you know it! I see my onc on the 24th and will discuss the whole thing with her after she gives me my bloodwork and ct scan reports! If they are okay, this port is coming out!! Binney gave me some wonderful info and I will see about getting an appt with a lymphedema specialist before I see my orthopedic surgeon again. Joni0702 - pinched nerves can hurt!! I had one in my back when I was in my 20's (seems like such a long time ago!) Hopefully it's an easy fix for you! good luck. Any Northern Virginia ladies on this discussion board?Colleen - I had my radiation at Reston Hospital - my plastic surgeon, Wendy Gottlieb, is there as well. The techs and doctors are awesome! The doctor that did mine left right as mine was ending to head up a center in Delaware but comes back every month or so for follow-ups. I did the Look Good, Feel Better class there too. I was pro-active, did the class before I even started chemo. It was a little shocking for me at the time - I was the only one who didn't pull off a wig and share my bald head! It was a fun class and the participants shared so much with the "newbie"! We weren't given wigs, just a bag full of products. I ended up only doing scarves and a turban or two instead. Good luck with your last AC - I was antsy with mine, DH had to practically hold me down cuz I knew how crappy I was going to feel but I behaved and didn't run out the door! Good luck with your mom this weekend as well. If you are feeling up to it - please join us at Tysons! Dawn Saturday, October 18, noon at Tysons Corner Center in the food court. TendinitisHey Sheri! Where is your tendonitis? I have it in my wrist, pain since March (tried to move a couch), dx in May when I couldn't stand it anymore, with deQuervain's Tendonitis. Orthopedic Surgeon wants to cut of course but it's my right wrist, same side as my mastectomy, reconstruction, axillary dissection, radiation etc. so I am petrified to have the surgery because I assume it will probably kick off lymphedema. I chose to try a splint but wearing it 24/7 is not "life" to me so I am leaning toward the surgery but am thinking I should see a lymphedema specialist first. If anyone has any recommendations, PLEASE post them! Dawn Dx 12/1/2005, IDC stage I, Grade 3, 0/5 nodes, ER+/PR+/HER2+ Dx 3/28/2007, IDC, 3cm, Grade 3, ER-/PR-, HER2+ |
