Such a sad time...

Thanks for asking LuAnn - I'm doing well - have had some ups and downs but it's been almost two years since my dx and that makes me happy. Back on chemo after a good run with Arimidex and having a good response. Most of the time I treat the symptoms and pretend it doesn't exist - not easy but it works for me. I will keep checking in now and again - you are all always in my thoughts...

Such a sad time...

Hello my dear sisters,

What to say?

I haven't been on much but check how everyone is occasionally. I've been hesitating to post as I'm so sorry to read all of these posts of sisters we've lost recently and words escaped me. Reading about Shepgirl hits hard because she worked so hard to give us hope with research and encouraging posts. She was one of the first people I "met" when I joined. I just looked at the angels list and we've lost so many the past few months...this just hurts too much at times.

AlaskaDeb - I am so sorry to read of your recurrence...I have your CD and am so grateful that you continue to inspire me with the songs. You have had good news among the bad and hopefully that will help you deal with the bad better.

I know I've missed many more posts but wanted to stop in and let everyone know that you are all in my prayers and thoughts - as well as the family and friends of our sisters that have passed. They were magnificent women and I am in awe of how they dealt with this. Those that are here now are equally magnificent - and I am equally in awe.

Many warm hugs and love to you all...

Ginney

Scan results in- mostly good news!

Shepgirl - so happy to hear the good news - it really is a quick response considering all you've been through. You sound like you're doing well with it all too - and swimming too! Keep up the good work!

Thank you so much for sharing your good news...

Hugs,

Ginney

Is Anyone Starting Chemo In Aug 06

Karen - to quote another sister, crappity crap crap crap! The good news is it is curable and I know it sucks but I've had half my thyroid removed and while it's not fun - it was a somewhat smooth recovery. I have a skinny scar around my neck and it's hardly noticeable to others. Good luck!!

YUCK - Karen - I'm keeping the positive thoughts for your results - it will be OK. And don't worry about what other people think - as hard as that is - you need to take care of yourself - first and foremost - but you are fine!! Many warm hugs to you!

LISA - OMG - I cannot even express how this saddens me - I'm so glad your parents moved out of there - I cannot imagine how awful that must be. Ugghhh - such ugliness in this world.

My friend has recently been dx with testicular cancer and started his chemo this week. It has spread to his lymphnodes but he has a good prognosis. I'm happy I can help him with tips at least - he's only in his early 30's. He's being a real trooper and I'm so proud of him.

I am focusing on helping make this better. I am not religious but will meditate on positive results for all of us...just never know...

Much love to you all...

You are my strength and I hope I can help you from afar...

Hugs,

Ginney

Rest in Peace Roza

Nikoleta,

I am so sad to read this. Roza was an inspiration to me when I first joined and continued to be - even when she was very ill. I will never forget her. I am so sorry for your loss and wish you peace. We will miss her so much.

Is Anyone Starting Chemo In Aug 06

Wow - I just looked and I haven't posted here since the beginning of April...

Cindy - sounds like you're doing well! Yay!

Anne - hair! Yay for you too! Glad you're halfway through your rads...

Sorry about the headaches Lisa - can't offer anything about herceptin - just sending postiive thoughts your way...

Sue - that is WONDERFUL news - I am SO HAPPY for you!

Sorry about the lymphedema Karen - hope it improves more as time goes on. Also sending positive thoughts your way for your test results...

Carol - hope your recon recovery is going well.

Cheryl - happy your tests went well and how sweet of everyone to be so supportive...

I did go public the beginning of May with my very short hair - same as many - very curly so can't do a lot with it. It's a little longer now but still very curly. I ended up coloring it because there just wasn't enough gray to go "natural" so that's that for now. My DD said the short hair makes me look younger . I had my first anniversary at work in January - we have a little ceremony for anniversaries - mine was this month. When they called my name - the room burst into applause and "woohoo" - I was so touched. Afterward, a coworker said "I was so happy when you walked up there with your cute curly hair - and it was so inspiring - you really are amazing." It was a great feeling.

As for the rest of my update, I have now put on 15 lbs. since this adventure started last July. Not bad for a year. Mostly my own doing so I have to just buckle down and fix it! My onc was saying "you're gaining weight so that's good" and last visit he said "ok, you can stop gaining weight now" - yeah - now that I'm out of several slacks and shirts I guess I will have to!

So I'm still doing great - my markers are way down, my liver enzymes are normal for the first time since this started over a year ago. I feel fantastic and "normal" and it's wonderful. I joined a 6-week bowling league at work and cannot believe I can do it and have no pain and it's so much fun!! I'm still on coumadin and that's working out well - still have to adjust it now and again since I am eating better (most veggies have a lot of vitamin K). I'm back to yoga more often and have really added many meditation and relaxation things to my life - warm baths, self-hypnosis, gentle music and quiet time. At work I use my iPod to block out the politics, stress and difficult people and situations. It works very well to keep me calm - which I find is extremely helpful to me. My DD is almost done with her first year of college - coming home soon for the summer.

That's about it - what a difference a year makes!

TIME TO CIRCLE THE WAGONS GIRLS

Hello ladies!

I haven't forgotten you all! I posted on the Recurrence forum yesterday to let them all know how I am and try to give some hope. A couple of CG's responded and reminded me to post here too!

So I am still doing very well. My numbers for my liver are now completely normal for the first time since this all started. My markers have come down tremendously from the beginning and the Arimidex has continued where the chemo left off. I am confident they will be back down to "normal" soon enough. My onc is very pleased and I will be getting a bone density test in a month or so to see if I need to continue with the Zometa. To me that means he thinks my bones are good enough! YAY!

Personally, I feel great - no pain, much less anxiety and a positive outlook on life. I've learned that when the dark thoughts creep in I have to fight to get them out. Unfortunately, as I posted before - that means spending less time here. While there is much love, there is also much sadness - I offer my support when I have enough to give but that is not often since I am sensitive and have to work hard to keep myself in a good place.

I did visit with my brother and mother so they now believe me when I say I'm doing well - they thought I was "putting on a brave face" for them. I told them that they will KNOW when I'm not doing well - because I can be a big baby and will be PISSED!! It was good to go somewhere and do something (other than work) for a change. I also joined a bowling league at work - it's only 6 weeks but boy it felt good to do something that I couldn't do last year. I'm a little sore but it was so much fun!

I've put on a little weight - ughhh - can't really blame the treatments for much - pretty much been eating like a pig but now that my clothes don't all fit, I'm back to the good stuff. My DH and I are still living apart - don't remember if I told the long story - but basically his life has too much drama for me so we live separately. I don't know if we will be together again but this is working out well. His life (meaning his ex and son - both very troubled) continues to be a mess and he's really having a hard time. He doesn't share much to spare me the negativity but I try to support him as much as I can. I only know that while I was involved in it, I was a mess - felt horrible, ended up on Xanax, and evenutally was dx again. I won't say they are or are not related - but since I moved I have been getting better every day.

Other than that, my DD is doing very well in college and I am truly blessed to have her and know that she is blossoming into a wonderful woman. She's had a tough life with my health but is a trooper and has an appreciation of life that many do not. One of the "gifts" we have all received.

I still pop in every couple of weeks - but just know that I am good and still think of you all often. I won't be able to make Pinkstock but will be there in spirit!

Love to you all!! You are some of the precious "gifts" I have received!

Many hugs,

Ginney

Is Anyone Starting Chemo In Aug 06

Hello everyone!

Sorry to hear about the lung spots - hope everything comes back ok - for everyone!

I hope everyone else is coming along well in their journey - and for those who have hair coming back - how's it going? Mine is about an inch now - was completely straight and flat but is now a wave at the root and straight at the end. Can't use gel or anything yet - doesn't do much but I think by the beginning of May it will be ready for all public viewing (I pretty much wear my wig at work to avoid questions).

Other than that - doing great - feeling great - only lurking here now since I've got a lot to do to create my new life (YAY!)

Good luck to all in finishing up your treatments and getting back to normal...and you can and you will!!

Hugs,

Ginney

TIME TO CIRCLE THE WAGONS GIRLS

Hello ladies,

I'm here! I appreciate that ya'll are concerned - it really warms my heart. I've become an occasional lurker. I have been focusing on creating my new life - selling my house, helping my daughter prepare for her first apartment, finding my dream career (which is working on my own), and keeping myself focused on finding joy and happiness in each day. Unfortunately, I found that visiting this site too often was keeping me focused on my disease more than I believe is helpful. I do come around and check on you all - and while I don't think I can make Pinkstock I will definitely be there in spirit. I hope this isn't perceived as abandonment - I care about you all and check in often.

I know that many of you are past your dx and treatments but like some others, I have found that being in the second dx is much different. I treasure everything I have found here - and will continue to be here - just less often until I feel I can master the emotions attached to it.

I am doing fantastic in my recovery and have never felt better about who I am, where I am, and how I am. This site - and all of you - have been a key factor in that process - and for that I am grateful and forever in your debt. What a gift this site and all of you are. I consider myself one of the luckiest people on this planet.

I have several ideas of a contribution to Pinkstock but whatever it is, it will be merely a token compared to how you all have contributed to my health and well being over these months.

I love you all very much.

Hugs,

Ginney

TIME TO CIRCLE THE WAGONS GIRLS

I'm here! I've been taking a break - lots going on right now - supporting my friend with Hepatitis, had another friend over for the weekend, working on work and taxes, and working on myself - meditation, yoga and relaxation - all good stuff.

Not certain about PinkStock - forgot about a trip I have in May for my nephew's graduation - so I'll have to play it by ear.

Other than that - I'm feeling great - everything where the Dr. wants it and we're staying the course.

Way too many pages to catch up - posted on Gina's other thread yesterday quickly - hope everyone is doing well...

love you all,

Ginney

TIME TO CIRCLE THE WAGONS GIRLS

Wow - you are a busy bunch - like 7 pages?? How fun! I've been working on a side job and it's taking much more time than I would like! But it will finance my trip to Pinkstock in August. So here's the funny part - my DH has his 30th high school reunion that weekend - we can see family, do the reunion, and go to Pinkstock. Then today I get a notice that my high school reunion is the weekend of July 21 - so - what to do, what to do....I'm thinking I'll take two trips - one for family and reunion and one for other reunion and Pinkstock - what the heck? I spent most of last year not being able to take time off for FUN - only for chemo! It's either that or go July 20 and stay until August 5....hmmmmm...that's a thought too!

Anyway,

GINA - I'm so happy you have official news of clean scans - what a HUGE relief that is!! YAY!!

Susan ... and others ... DO NOT hold back your feelings from us - this is why we are here - none of us are bugged by them!! Ever!

Don't have the eyes to read back and catch up - hear there was quite a party and that's great - did see the party thread - that's a good idea Vickie.

Just want to let you know that I'm still here and love you all so much!!

Hugs,

Ginney

TIME TO CIRCLE THE WAGONS GIRLS

Gina - YAY!!!!! I'm so happy the techs tipped you off - from my experience if they give any indication at all - they're usually right. They clam up when they see something. So - we'll go with that!

You girls are so busy!! I had 7 unread pages I think - wow..

Unfortunately, I have to work a little...catch up later!

Arimidex - been almost two months and so far ok - gained a bit of weight - I've been eating like a pig though. I just seem to be so HUNGRY - craving lots of sugar. I'll have to check the side effects - and get some self-control!

Is Anyone Starting Chemo In Aug 06

I was thinking about posting today too! I am so ready to go without my wig too. It's about 1/2 inch long and mostly grey. I have had to wear the cap under it (the mesh one) to keep it from shifting now with the hair. I think about 3 more weeks and I'm going to go for it! I like the salt and pepper now - it looks cool - not certain how much I'll like it later though....

Hormone therapy is still pretty good - had a little spotting yesterday but it's gone today. My blood clot monitoring is a pain in the you know what, it was too thin the last check. Took me a while then I checked my new vitamins and they don't have any vitamin K - the old one did. So I have to go back to once a week after going for 3 weeks at a time. I did go off the Protonix and it seems to be OK - yay! One less pill to take every day!

Other than that I'm doing well! Yay! Getting more energy every day - hang in there Anne - you're almost done! I found the runny nose was from not having nose hair. Has yours fallen out? Very weird to me!

Karen - hair color is so unpredictable! Hope you get the shade right next time!

Cindy - glad to hear you're through the rest and on to Tamoxifen.

Still waiting for more rain here - the dryness is wreaking havoc with my sinuses! Yikes!

TIME TO CIRCLE THE WAGONS GIRLS

Hey CGs,

I was worried so I PM'd LauraB to see how she is - she's got a lot going on but is doing fine. She said she'll stop in soon to give an update. She sounds good and focused on what she is doing.

I know I'm relieved!

Hugs,

Ginney
