arimidex side effects, got to have so hummor it get thru it

I know the side effects of our "cancer prevention" drugs can be quite bad.  I was talking to my sister and mom last night.  For some odd reason my boss set me up on eharmony.  My mom said if she put how she really felt not too many people would answer her. (old lady with hip pain)  my sister said she had one better (not to old lady who is poor)  I said I could top them all (not too old lady who feels like an old lady, poor, homeless (staying with my son right now) uses wheelchair and has lumps instead of boobs!)  I bet I'd get lots of responses!!!  I'm using the wheelchair because i've developted fybromialga from the Aremidex, and my joint pain is so bad that I can't walk very far befor my legs just give out.  I'm lucky because both of my sons have a great sense of humor too.  Last time I went food shopping my youngest son said he could just put ME in one cart and his brother would put the food in the other!

How soon did second bc or recurrence happen?

I had bc and treatment in 2005, it came back in the other side exactly one year later in the other side in 2006, THEN in 2007 had a bilateral mas. with reconstruction.  Now im having some Neurological  problems.  I had a cat scan of my head.  Nothing was found, but when I told my onc he said I need to come in to see him ASAP.  I'm not even going to think about it!!!!

Palin's church believes in "praying away the gay"

I was raised as a catholic, and from my experience most catholics do not agree with everything the pope has to say.  I know some people feel that GLBT people choose to be so.  I truely believe that it is genetic.  This is based on my son.  I had to ask my son if he was gay.  I always thought that he was even as a child.  I also thought that when he was ready he would tell me...This wasn't the case. He was terrified to tell me because he thought I would hate him because he was "not normal"!!!!!!!!  I told him that I loved him and that his being gay was as normal for him as being straight was normal for me.  He told me of so many of his friends being thrown out of their homes or abused by their parents because they were GLBT.  Most of these parents came from "christian" homes. I will NEVER vote for ANYONE who would discriminate against the GLBT population.  Some day I hope that people will reialize thatGLBT people are as normal as straight people.  Now that I'm done ranting i'll go back to work!! (I just had to comment!)

My passion......

Your pictures are beautiful!  They do make me alittle sad though.  They make me long for the time when  I didn't have to battle everyday to be as normal as I can. (with meds.,and soooooooo many surgerys!)  They also make me determined to fight and win this battle!

wound vacs/wound failures, desperate

I had bi lateral mas. and reconstruction.  Half of the left side failed so  the did a back flap to fix it.  THEN the right side started to have problems along with my stomach wound opening up.  The doctor decided on the wound vac and it was the perfect solution.  It speeds up the healing process to about half the time it would normally take for healing.

anyone on disabitily

I'm on amrosin too.  I've had bc in o5 again in 06 and 07.  I had a bi masectomy and alot of problems and surgerys from that.  I had though about disability but was unsure in I would qualify.  If  you wouldn't mind maybe you could explain how to find out about it.  This medication makes my bones, joints and muscles hurt.  I have been given pain meds but can't take it while at work.Cry

ANYONE ON AROMASIN IN 2008 ?

Hi Evie,

I've been on the drug for about 2 months.  I'm one of theose lucky gals who's body reacts badly to drugs.  I have bone, joint and muscle pain. upset stomach, fatiuge etc.  I've been on tomoxifin but got a reacurrence one year later, then arimidex, same side effects as aromasin, for some reason the Dr. thinks the aromasin is "better".  I feel like a 95 year old woman in a 54 year old body.  I have though about stopping the meds. but i've had 3 bouts of cancer in 3 years.....lucky me!  I've had 2 lumpectomies and a double masectomy with reconstruction.  Have had problems with reconstruction and had to have several more surgeries to correct the problems.  I have two more to go and then should not have to under go any more surgeries.  I love when I get the call from the hospital.  " we are calling you to explain what the procedure is for surgery".  At this point my response is... let me explain to YOU  procedure and tell me if i'm missing anything!!!  Oh well if you keep your sense of humor you can deal with it all!!  I've noticed that some days I feel ok and other days the side effects of the drug is worse.  You may be lucky and only have a few side effects or maybe........NONE!!!!  Good luck and I really do hope you will do well.

Anyone developed Diabetes since starting AI

I'm a diabetic.  This was before the cancer.  My doctor told me that my hormones affect my diabeties.  My sugar levels have been higher since i've been on arimidex then aromasin.  It seems to me that if someone is prone to beccoming a diabertic maybe the AIs can push you over the edge.

Seeing OC today

I saw the oc yesterday.  I have a lesion on my chest wall!  I will be going for a MRI asap.  This REALLY STINKS!!!!!!!!  I'm going to think on the positive side and say that it's just scar tissue from the massectomy!  But if it is cancer all I can do is go through whatever treatment is nessicary.  I'm not going to worry about tommarow, I choose to live for the day!

Seeing OC today

I am going to see my Doctor today.  My history is:  In 2005 I had IDC and ILC in the right breast, had lumpectomy and radiation.  I went on tamoxifen.  Exaclty to the month one year letter I developed the same thing in the left side.  Again lumpectomy and radiation.  And was put on Arimidex.  In July of 2007 I had all the testing done again and the best they could say was PROBABLY no cancer.  Having had it twice before I opted for bilateral masectomy with reconstruction. I had alot of complications with the reconstruction and in fact STILL have one more repair surgery to do.

I as sooooooo afraid he will find something once again.  I've had alot of side effects from the Arimidex  including bone pain.  Lately it seems to have gotten worse.  I'm afraid it could be that the cancer has spread to my bones.  Am I correct to worry about this or is it just the Arimidex symptoms getting worse.  Has anyone had bone pain that got worse as time went on?

Aromasin/hair question

I've been on Arimidex for about 1 year. My hair thinned out almost from the very start. My dr said about the same thing as yours. I put a screen in the tub when I showered and guess what? It was full of my imaged hair! About 2 months ago my hair stopped thinning and actually started to fill back in. Hopefully you will have this happen for you.  Good Luck!!

arimidex

Thanks everyone for your info.  I'm afraid to stop or change me or go off of it because I've had bc in 05 (left side lumpectomy)  06 (right side lumpectomy) and again in 07 bilad. masectomy with reconstruction.  I'd rather have side effects than deal with anymore problems.  Sometimes though I think it's going to come back and get me in the end.  I can only live one day at a time so, for now life goes on!

arimidex

I have been on Arimidex for about 18 months now.  I have been having some bad side effects from it.  I have bone and joint pain, my muscles hurt, i'm ALWAYS tired and it upsets my stomach.  It seems to be happening more often now compared to when I first started the drug.  I feel bad for my family as they haven't seen me feeling like myself much at all anymore.  I can't explain to them just how bad I feel.  does anyone else have so many side effects from Arimidex?  If so any suggestions that may help?

sexy after breast cancer

I am so sick of hearing negative comments about gays and lesbians. My son is gay and I'm very proud of him. If anyone says anything to me about gays or lesbians, or anyone around me makes negative comments about gays or lesbians, I can assure you that when I'm done they have learned to keep thier oppinions to themselves!!!!!!

BILATERAL MASECTOMY WITH RECONSTRUCTION

Part of one of my flaps failed, so they had to do the back flap procedure to fix that part. It seems to be doing fine now. Except I am having some skin breakdown in some of the rad. areas. How'd your appointment go?
