Does anyone else have this?mags, I don't sweat at all in the arm-pit on my surgery side (I also had rads). MY LE arm sweats mostly in the forearm area. My LE has always been under control (hopefully since I caught it early), but I've had this weird sweating for years. My LE is very mild, and only someone trained in LE would even notice it if I didn't point it out. No one seems to have any idea what it is (is it lymph fluid, or actual sweat?). |

No Cleavage!whatnow, Boy can I relate! I am concave on my mast side, which is a major problem. I tried the stick on form, but had a hard time having it stay stuck because not enough of it was actually in contact with my chest so I ended up using the fashion strips as backup to help it hold - then I developed a sensitivity to the sticky stuff, so I now use the stick on form with the backing on in a regular mast bra (with something behind it for more "projection"). I live in t-shirts, have them in a bazillion colors. Nothing else gives enough coverage. And bathing suits.....grrrrr. I have found the Lands End tankinis (not necessarily mast suits - just sew in a pocket) are the only ones that give me the coverage I need. People probably think I am very modest. I was never one to show cleavage, but this is crazy. Try finding a dressy dress that's not low cut. And even just nice tops - low cut has been in style for too long! Try the Amoena 126 leisure form with a loose bra at night, so you aren't too lopsided when answering the door - no need to annnounce to everyone that you had a mast! Sounds like you need to keep trying to find the right form for you. I had a mast in '96 with recon, and a year later had the implant removed. I have been on a quest for the best form since then. I finally found a mast bra that works for me last year! Still experimenting with the forms. I like the 126 for night, swimming, exercising, and sometimes for everyday, although it's not so good for the "hug factor" - it's a little dense. Sorry no real suggestions, but I really do understand. |

Does anyone else have this?bomber, I do the same, I hook my thumb in the belt loop or waistband of my pants, or keep my hand in the pocket of my jacket (if it's cool enough to be wearing one). I also do the pumping and flexing while I walk, so swelling isn't a major issue. |

Does anyone else have this?My LE is under pretty good control. I have only minor swelling, wrap every night, and sometimes wear a sleeve/glove for a while during the day. It does seem to "weep" more during the warm weather, but also at other times. The chemo 11 years ago put me into instant meno, so I know that's not it. Would love to hear from others on this.

Does anyone else have this?I've noticed for a long time that when I exercise, my LE arm sweats way before my other arm. Even on a slow walk, before I can work up a sweat, my LE arm is wet - my mother would say that it is weeping. Does anyone else have this? Is it good? Bad? Or just what it is? No MD understands what it is, so I thought I would ask the experts here on this board. |

Prosthesis for 'concave' chest wallLook on the sites for breast forms, and you will find something called cups. They are sold in pairs and I use one or two of them behind the regular form for added projection. |

Dare to be breastless?Joni, Buy the underwire bras you like and make a small slit to remove the underwire. I also like the leisure forms for swimming and in some bras. Nancy - try a leisure form like the Amoena 126. They are inexpensive, and good in the heat. |

Silicone breast forms okay for swimming?Sher, You're right, the leisure forms do take a long time to dry. I actually have 4 of them, 2 in a size 5, and 2 in a 6 because I use different sizes in different swimsuits. I don't have an issue with the soaked up water being a problem, maybe if it were a bigger size, but not my size. |

Silicone breast forms okay for swimming?I use Amoena 126 leisure forms for swimming as you can wear them in a hot tub as well. The silicone forms can't be worn in a hot tub, and the regular swim forms are heavy, and have a hollow back which leads to "boob farts" if you lie on your stomach or someone hugs you. The leisure forms soak up a lot of water, so when you get out of the water, wrap a towel around yourself, cross your arms over your chest, and hug yourself to smoosh all the water out of the form. They are also inexpensive and can be used in a mast bra so you can have a back up for your regular form. They are concave, so I have to put something behind it for projection, but after years of trial and error, this works best for me at this point. |

unevenI'm in the same situation, with the surgeon taking everything. I too can see my ribs all the way up to my collarbone. I have found that wearing button down shirts is out as that accentuates the concave side. Tee shirts seem to work better and let me look more even. Bathing suits have to be high neck (Lands End work best for me, I sew in pockets). I have tried many different forms and bras. The ABC t-shirt bra for petites is the only mast bra that works for me. I use either an Amoena 126 leisure form or an old Amoena contact lite form with the backing on (I haven't gotten around to getting a new form). I honestly don't think there is a form out there that would go up far enough to replace all the breast tissue that wsa taken, other than the custom made forms. Looking at mast bathing suits and reading posts about bathing suits made me wonder if I was the only one with so much tissue taken. At least I know that I'm not. |

fitting for a sleeveCall your doctor and get a script for a glove as well as the sleeve. If you wear the sleeve without the glove you may make your hand swell even more. Also, when you put the sleeve and glove on, I was told to put my hand and arm above heart level, put the glove on first then put the sleeve on. Put your hand through the sleeve, turning the sleeve over itself, so it's folded in half, pull the sleeve on and slowly turn it right side out as you pull it on. I hope this makes sense to you. Some women find that benadryl helps with the swelling. Also, keep your arm elevated as much as you can, and you can LIGHTLY stroke your arm up to your shoulder and across your chest to help distribute some of the fluid. Call your therapist and have her teach you MLD, you need to know how to do it. You should also learn how to wrap your arm, that helps a lot and gives you some control over the LE. Your therapist should measure you for the sleeve, and call your insurance company to find out how much they will cover, it is considered Durable Medical Equipment or Durable Medical Goods in insuranse speak. I'm sure Binney, the resident LE expert will have even more and better advice for you. You are not alone, and leave the dishes for now. |

Amoena 126 SizingI'm a 34 A/B and use a 5 in bras, and a 6 in some bathing suits. I'm flat/concave, so I get "bra cups" to put behind the 126 for a little more projection. |

airport security and sleeves?Melia, The first time I flew with my arm wrapped, I was pulled aside and asked all sorts of questions and checked for gunpowder traces. After that, I put my bandages in my carry on and wrap once I get through security. Since you now have to be at the airport so far in advance these days, there is plenty of time between security and boarding th plane to wrap. It might not be as bad with a sleeve. |

Why do I have to fight with Everyone about LE riskI had surgery last year, and made it a point to tell everyone that they could not use my LE arm. The surgeon noted it in his chart and I told everyone who even looked at me on the day of my surgery. Everyone was very understanding and agreed. As I started to drift off from the anesthesia, the anesthesiologist tapped me on the shoulder and told me to slip my arm out of the gown. I asked him why, and he said "So I can use it for your blood pressure"!!!!!!!! I was lucky to still be awake enough to tell him "NO! I have lymphedema! He put the blood pressure cuff on my other arm while I struggled to stay awake to make sure he did it. The next day, I sent him info on LE. |

Bra uncomfortable on node biopsy scarBoobsinaBox, Barbara turned me on to the Amoena 126's, and I love them. They are great for swimming, exercising, and daily wear. I am concave, and so is the form, so I use a "bust cup" behind the form to give a little more projection and it works great. |

Amoena Tria PlusSusan, I have the Amoena contact lite and have also had the stickiness diminish. I use fashion tape or wardrobe tape that helps add a little stickiness. You can get it at Bed Bath and Beyond, Victorias Secret, or the Hahnes outlets. |

Air travelTo avoid the security issues, I take my bandages in my carry on. Once I go through security, I wrap my arm. There's always plenty of time since you have to get to the airport so far in advance. It usually takes time to get through the airport, pick up our luggage, and get to the hotel, so it's usually at least an hour after landing, and time to take the bandages off. I would recommend using the sleeve to avoid an issue with LE. Don't take chances. It doesn't matter what the odds are, you either get it or you don't. |

Bathing Suit ProblemsOn Barbara's suggestion, I tried the Amoena 126 Leisure forms, and found them to be the best for swimming. The silicone swim forms have the hollow back that traps air. If you lie on your stomach or someone hugs you, you have the dreaded "boob farts" and a vacuum packed boob that then needs to pop back out. Not the most attractive sight. The leisure forms are light and don't stretch out the swim suit. They do soak up water, so when you get out of the water, wrap a towel around yourself and hug. That drains the water from the form. They do take a while to dry, so I have a spare. I also found that I need different sizes for different suits. I had recon and deconstruction a year later, and am very flat/concave on one side, up to @ 2" from my colar bone. This makes finding swimsuits rather difficult. I found the Lands End high neck tankinis to work best for me. I get the regular suits and sew in a pocket when they are out of the mast suits. |

Cloth Cover w/ProthesisGEECH, If your bra straps fall down, try using wardrobe or fashion tape. It's double sided tape made to be used for revealing clothes, to keep from showing too much. It works great. You can get it at Bed Bath and Beyond, Victorias Secret, and the Playtex, Hahnes outlets. |
