The Road to Hell . . . (or "Laughter is the Best Medicine")I'm so Glad I found this thread! I love to take the High Road as well. I'm logging all the crazy things that have been said to me. I get the journal out and get a grand laugh when I need it. When my guy said he would shave his head when I lost my hair, I said I don't know why you would do that...I just bought a couple of wigs and people will wonder what is wrong with you.

Need Hope Being Node PositiveHello, I had 5 live nodes left after chemo & surgery...and still going NED trong after a year. I had rads as well. I believe that was just what was left over. ALL MY TRIPLE NEG SISTERS!Keep your chin up. I am also TN, Stage 2, Grade 3, large tumor like yours. Kick butt! I went through 10months of treatments in 2007 with my family 930+miles away from me...6rounds of chemo (tumor shrunk so I had a lumpec) , 2 surgery's 2 wks apart, and then 31 rads. Still kicking high. :-) Moved back across the country and started a new Support Group at home. It is only for people that have experienced some kind of cancer. Nothing was here for those completed with treatments. We will help support others going through the journey. Positive energy coming your way! Need Info About North CarolinaI moved from Raleigh, NC earlier this year. Love all the shopping. Kbug told me there was somebody asking about pets there. I had a poodle at a townhouse. They have dogs in several places for rentals. Did not seem to be a problem. I loved the Raleigh area. Good luck with your move. Lee27...back in Illinois. African American Women & Triple Negative StatusSpark...Thanks for the Happy Birthday wishes. I'm still celebrating girl.;-) This birthday meant so much more to me than every before. I had a great time in Chicago...going back this month as my daughter gets her Masters Degree on the 21st. Proud Mom moment.:-) I'm also celebrating my 1st 3month bilateral digital mamo since all my treatments were over. Yes! My bone scan went well also. Next 3months I think I'll go back to my Drs. in NC; instead of in Illinois. All my Drs. what to be on the same page in both states. The NC Drs. are the ones that saved my life. On with the battle, and everybody keep the faith! Dx 5/18/2007, IDC, 3cm, Stage II, Grade 3, 5/19 nodes, mets, HER2- |

Did Hair Come Back Better or Worse?Hi Spark, It's been a while. I did the same as you. Went for the free makeup & bought fabric...but I never used the fabric. Ha! The makeup program is great. My hair is a short fro now. About an inch on top and 2 inches in the back. Looking forward to wearing it in short curls...SOON! Still love my wig...Never a bad hair day. Those with the wigs....PLEASE be sure to buy the conditioner for synthetic hair & texturizing cleanser for synthetic hair. You'll be pleased with the look of the wigs. It keeps them fresh, clean, & shinny looking. Heading to Chicago to visit my daughter over the holidays. Hope you and your family have some nice time off as well. Does anybody look different?I shall put my 2 cents in.;-) I've been through all my txs....chemo, surgery's, and radiation. Yes, the skin tones change for many of us. My cheeks are still a shade darker than the rest of my face. Hard to mix my foundation...but, oh well. I'm done and alive! The creases in your hands will darken as well on African Americans, Latino's, etc. My nails darkened. That can happen on anyone. The nails have almost all grown out now. I'm just thankful they did not drop off as some people's do. I'm waiting for my toenail beds to grow out as well. Now, I'm just waiting on my hair to grow back. I have an inch long in most places...the back is about 2inches. Looking forward to wearing it short with big curls. Hang in there! Glad to share my story.

African American Women & Triple Negative StatusHi Rogam, Glad to meet you. What a club to belong to. We are a pretty good group to hang out with.:-) Sorry it had to be this way. Focus, focus, focus, and your treatments will breeze by you. I had chemo lst (6txs), 2 surgery's within 2 weeks of each other, and then 31 rads. Can hadly believe this month (the 16th) will be a year that I was actually dx. Dx 5/18/2007, IDC, 3cm, Stage II, Grade 3, 5/19 nodes, mets, HER2- |

Did Hair Come Back Better or Worse?I do not find the wigs too bad...I wear a cancer cotton skull cap under the wig to take on that heat. Have you tried that? I bought my 2 wigs at a place for cancer people & people with thinning hair. I found them to be much lighter in weight. Dx 5/18/2007, IDC, 3cm, Stage II, Grade 3, 5/19 nodes, mets, HER2- |

Did Hair Come Back Better or Worse?Hi Deberanne, I have a one inch soft afro right now. Feels great not to have a bald cold head anymore. My back of my head is about a half inch longer. I continue to wear a wig that people think is my own hair. It has 3 different colors of dark brown that makes it look so real. It is so much like my original style. I often tug on it with laughter when people that know me say they love my hair cut. Is there a time period that must past before one does put a perm in their hair that you know of? I want to wear a short curly style now that it is growing back, so plan to just roll it with small rollers when it gets longer. Dx 5/18/2007, IDC, 3cm, Stage II, Grade 3, 5/19 nodes, mets, HER2- |

Support Group MeetingsIt has been a while since I've been out here. Glad to see this topic. I moved back to my home town in IL and have yet to get to a group here. I understand there are only 2 of them. In NC, I went to a small group of 12 with just women. However, the larger group--of approx. 40--included both men and women. I had good and bad to say about both. I found it just good to be in the presence of those that could understand without me explaining anything to them and free to say what I really was going through, or be comfortable saying nothing at all...If I had a challenge, they were there to suggest what I could do to to settle a problem I might have. That was good. I am thinking about starting a new group in my town that has all types of cancers. I think we have good things we can learn from each other. Sometimes these larger groups have members with more than one kind of cancer. Dx 5/18/2007, IDC, 3cm, Stage II, Grade 3, 5/19 nodes, mets, HER2- |

What day is best to recieve chemo and work?I was a Wed. chemo person. By Sat. afternoon, I felt like going out to the store and ride around just to get out for a bit. I wanted one day to feel pretty good, so I always made it a point to enjoy my Sunday's. I was then able to work on Monday's. My best to you with your treatments. Feeling Alone SometimesHi Felicia, I'm bracing myself for the family emotions. I'm all done with my txs and found your comments well worth sticking in my pocket on my move back home. I've been out of state during all these txs. and they have not seen me...some for as long as a year. I know they will look at me and think I'm all fine and nothing is wrong with me now. I Know I'll be back on line letting you know how I came out. It is my hope to bring them up to speed on bc. I'm the lst-timer in my family. finally!!!Congrats to you!!!!! Yes. I'm celebrating with you...my last Rads was on the 24th. Is it not great or what to celebrate with those that can relate and really understand. :-) Now about healing that skin...absolute. I'm working on that now. I burned bad on my collarbone the last week of my rads. Prior to the boosts, it did not bother me at all. I am blessed. Dx 5/18/2007, IDC, 3cm, Stage II, Grade 3, 5/19 nodes, mets, HER2- |

How to say thanksAfter so much wonderful advise from everyone, I ran upon a new business in town that bakes wonderful home cooked cookies in a nice Thank You tin.
