Diary hormone business sold

Why doesn't our lame government take up this fight?  Why did they forbid some milk producers from labeling their products as hormone free? Our corrupt system with PACs buying politicians is the reason.  It is very disturbing. I understand this is outlawed in Europe where the gov't actually gives a  darn about their citizens.

Question about Glucosamine and Blood Sugar

Actually a naturopath told me not to  take it since it is made from shell fish which has copper which isn't good for bc.  I take it anyway cause I have arthritis and the aromasin kills my joints.

Bone Density Predicts Chances of Breast Cancer

Isn't this just crazy? What is a woman to do? Is it because you have dense bones or could it be because you drank too much hormone laden milk and yogurt?
It is very frustrating they seem not to be able to get a handle on what causes bc, but put most of their efforts into "treating" it.

I'M DONE WITH MY TREATMENT - NOW WHAT? INFO...

No people don't get it, at all. It is definitely a grieving experience, for lost health, for pieces, parts of our bodies destroyed by cancer, surgery and radiation and the loss of the innocence of thinking we are healthy.  It is also something that is never far away - every time I get dressed, take a shower or bump into my fake boob there is a reminder.  Every time I look at my new hair it is a reminder. Every time I bump into someone who asks "how ARE you doing?" it is a reminder.

Thankful, however, not to have any new symptoms of cancers I am aware of today !

Taking a poll: What are you taking as prevention??

I discontiued everything but multis and calcium during chemo.  Seems there is some controvery about it and some think it protects cancer cells from being killed during chemo.

Lynda,

No need to apologize. You have some very good ideas.  I just take exception to the "healing the mental/emotional reason I got it in the first place". I don't know what causes bc, but I sure don't think it is solely caused by negative emotions.

I am also taking mushrooms - Hose Defense - a blend. I keep trying to put raw ones in salads, but I really hate the way they taste raw.

This  post is in the wrong forum. Perhaps some sprituality or victims-blame themselves forum would be more approriate.

Taking a poll: What are you taking as prevention??

Hi,

I was also directed by a nutritionist to places which only sell to you if you provide her name.  I have doubts about this, how do you know they are quality vitamins?  The providers get a commission on these sales as well.

You are so correct. I have Centrum for oldies and it has no iron.  A nutritionist also told me to avoid copper, but to get non-copper vitamins you must buy really expensive vitamins from uncommon suppliers.  Anyone else told to avoid copper?  Any iron foods to avoid?

 Thanks,

Joanne

Anyone know where you get vitamins with no iron or copper?  As I said previously one of the oncs told me she thought the amount present in multis too small to make a difference, but might as well do what you can do.  I know there are some very pricey ones out there, but I don't even know if they are any good.

Thanks,

Joanne

Consumerreports.org tests some supplements and for about $20/yr you can get the info. I use their tests to guide my buying decisions.

I think flax is like soy, weak estrogenic effects so it supposedly displaces the stronger estrogens from their docking sites.

cancer and the food we eat

Sue,

Sorry to hear about your breast cancer.  They recently published an article comparing traditional Chinese diet to americanized and decided the "meats and sweets" diet of america was correlated with high cancer rates. I don't recall that they implicated dairy as such, but definitely high intakes of meat (hormones again?) and sweets.

I usually just eat organic yogurt, no cow's milk, but I do eat ice cream at times.

ultrasound

I think you posted this in the wrong forum. I would try in not diagnosed yet but worried.  It could mean nothing.  There is no way they could grade anything without a biopsy.

can we talk about soy...again?

That is a good question. I think it comes from studying Asian populations who have very low bc rates.  I keep reading it is the fractionated soy that they put into everything from supplements to cereal to ketchup which is harmful to you, not whole soy which is in tofu, edaname  and tempeh.  A cancer nutritionist also said the Asians eat fermented soy such as miso and tempeh.
