Starting back at ground zero...Thanks everyone, I just keep telling myself that I am going to have a great body in the end so I guess it will all be worth it. I am really doing this for my daughters so their Mommy can look like everyone else. They are so small 2 and 5 so they really do not understand. I really do need to get one of these shirts. Starting back at ground zero...Well here is the story. I had my tissue expanders put in in November 07 and then things were going okay, until my right expander decided to start exploring the chest region and we had to have surgery to scrape the scar tissue around both of the expanders and replace the right expander in May. Well low and behold, the left expander which was doing just fine before the surgery in May decided to get infected and not just a little infected we are talking entire chest area flaming red and expander trying to find a way out of my body. Well we then removed the expander on the left side in July so now I am half of a reconstruction project. My doc wants to keep the left one out for 3 to 6 months and to tell you the truth I just really want to give up on all of this reconstruction stuff. I have to wear my fake boob on the left side which means I am wearing a bra again which sucks and I still do not match. I am getting so I hate to look at my self in the mirror, but then again I am glad I am here to look at myself. Just wanted to vent to people who would understand so thanks for listening. I hope no one has to go through all of this stuff I have went through. Hugs, Janet Janet Dx 4/23/2007, IDC, 2cm, Stage I, Grade 3, 1/21 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2- |

Expander fillWell my expanders have encapsulated and my PS is removing mine on May 9th and removing scar tissue and putting back in. We actually got to 825cc in one side and 750cc in the other and now we have to start again... I am as he calls it his special patient.... Going toplessI am also TOPLESS!!! I started going with out my wig the first of the year. It was my New Years resolution.... (LOL)
. I was sick of the black with gray in my hair and I also had mine colored. YEAH I am a red head again. Not much hair, but it is coming in fast and curly. My last Chemo treatment was Sept. 14th and I really did not start getting hair until November. Janet Dx 4/23/2007, IDC, 2cm, Stage I, Grade 3, 1/21 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2- |

continued Tissue expander pain!!Denise, I have BRCA1 gene positive for bilateral Breast Cancer. I had 1 tumor in the right breast and 3 tumors in the left and on node out of 21 positive. Working on a year now of being cancer free. I just felt that since I was triple negative that it was the best choose for me to have my ovaries removed. I have a 5 year old and 2 year old daughters and I plan on being here for a long long time... Janet Dx 4/23/2007, IDC, 2cm, Stage I, Grade 3, 1/21 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2- |

continued Tissue expander pain!!Wow Jani I would of loved to see the look on their faces. I never even thought about the metal detectors. Hey everyone else in the entire world seems like they have seen my chest so I would just let them see. All I have now is a chest wall any way with some bumps on them. Thanks for the info. My DH and I are planning a trip for my 40th birthday in March and I just did not want to have any surprizes. I imagine at the rate my PS is filling me I will be at least a DDD by then, with him wanting to get 1000cc's total in me before the exchange. I would just really like to sleep in the bed again instead of in the recliner.... Janet Janet Dx 4/23/2007, IDC, 2cm, Stage I, Grade 3, 1/21 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2- |

continued Tissue expander pain!!Okay I have a really weird question. Can we fly with our expanders in our chests? Not literly i just mean in an airplane for vacation. I have been hurting a bunch and Prince Valium and his buddies hyrdocodone have been helping me sleep in the recliner. I had my expanders put in on 11/16/07 and getting filled every 2 weeks. He actually put 300cc in during surgery so I am starting to see cleavage. One of the expanders moved up on the right side so I have a "high" boob, but he said he could fix that when he takes them out. We are shooting for 1000cc. I am starting to think that I am crazy for doing an 800cc implant, but I was a DDD before masectomy. It makes me feel better that I am not crazy when I tell people how much it hurts and they look at me like how could that hurt. I just want it done and over with I mainly sleep in the recliner because if I lay flat on my back it just hurts worse. Here is to a great weekend for everyone. I just had 50 cc in on Wednesday, so just a few more days of pain hopefully. Take care! Janet Janet Dx 4/23/2007, IDC, 2cm, Stage I, Grade 3, 1/21 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2- |

continued Tissue expander pain!!Hi ladies, Glad I am not alone. I had a complete hysterectomy on 11/16/07 and they also put in my tissue expanders at the same time and I get filled every 2 weeks and the left side is just fine, but the right expander moved up a little and since it has moved I have pain shooting down my arm and my PS told me that this is normal and they only way I can seem to get any sleep is to sleep upright in the recliner. I am up to 625cc in right and 550cc in the left. The reason I have more in the right side is that they left more tissue on the left side initially. We are shooting for 1000cc then reconstruct with an 800cc inplant. Janet Dx 4/23/2007, IDC, 2cm, Stage I, Grade 3, 1/21 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2- |

Tests, Treatments & Side Effects + Radiation Therapy - Before, During and After, Created: Oct 3, 2007 02:36 pm
Cried all through 1st pre radiationThanks everyone. I go back Monday to the rad doctor and this Friday to the Chemo doctor for a final check-up with him. Monday is the rehearsal and then I would start on Tuesday if I make that decision. I really am still tore up on this whole issue because my husband who has been SUPER supportive through the entire process does not want me to do the radiation and I just am all tore up inside. Thanks again!!! I am still on the bubble.... Janet Dx 4/23/2007, IDC, Stage I, Grade 3, 1/21 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2- |

Skin Staph Infection After Mastectomy??Leslie, Not to scare you , but all through Chemo I kept Staph. I would get anywhere from 3 -15 blisters with each treatment and the Oncologist said it was common. I am done with my treatments and all of the Staph is also gone. Your body just gets so weak it just effects everyone differently. Good luck and hugs... Janet Dx 4/23/2007, IDC, Stage I, Grade 3, 1/21 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2- |

Too long to surg? How soon after mastectomy can I start chemo?I had my bilateral on 5/1/07 and started chemo on 6/1/07. I just wanted to get the party started as they say. They just want to make sure you are healed before you start the process. Janet Dx 4/23/2007, IDC, Stage I, Grade 3, 1/21 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2- |

Mastectomy then Rad - I am sooo confusedI have been through 6 rounds of TAC and now they want me to do Radiation and I have had bilateral mastectomies on 5/1/07. I am fighting the radiation with everything I have.. I was also told that I would not need to ever have another mamogram. Had my first at 39 and I will never need another one after reconstruction. Cried all through 1st pre radiationWent today and let the scan me and I cried through the entire process. Went home and looked in the mirror at all of the markings and cried some more. I really think I am going to call and CANCEL all of the treatments. I knew I HAD to do CHEMO, but I can not convince my heart that I need to do this Radiation thing. Anyone else feel the same? How do you tell your child?I also have a 5 year old daughter and a 2 year old daughter and I just told her that the doctor is going to give mommy some medicine that will make me loose my hair and when they are all done my hair will come back. At first I was worried about what she would think, but now it is just an every day thing and she just keeps guessing what color it will be when it comes back. As far as the masectomy I still have not let either one of my daughters see me since the surgery. I personally do not want to tramatize them with the scares. The 5 year old just knew that I was REALLY tired sometimes and she knew that Mommy needed some quiet time. You will be amazed of how well your 5 year old will take it. I also let mine help me pick out hats and they played with the wigs too. Lots of hugs and just take care of yourself. Janet Dx 4/23/2007, IDC, Stage I, Grade 3, 1/21 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER- |
