Making do with less

Those of you who have grandchildren, what do you do with toys and clothes they have for use at your house?  I've got a toy box and a dresser.  Went through the toy box today and got rid of 2 big trash bags.

One more month till NASCAR starts.  I can't wait.  Can that mean spring will not be far behind?  We are supposed to warm up some this week.  I am very grateful for that.  I'm also glad we aren't nearly as cold as some of the more northern states are.

FOOTBALL my favorite time of year

I agree Dawn.  I'd like it to be the Giants with Eli since Peyton is out.

I'm reading "Look me in the eye, my life with asperger's" by John Elder Robison.  It's got some really funny parts, but also shows you what life is like for the people with asperger's.

Can't talk about death right now, so I'll try to think of something more cheerful, uuuhhhh, how about what are you doing for Valentine's Day?  I need some inexpensive suggestions for something for my dh.

Question about survival rates..

I'm a 3 year survivor, so i don't think you can always go by stats.  You shouldgo to her2support.org.  There are many on there who have survived for a long time.  Some of them might have mets, but they're battling them and they are still surviving!

prayers please

My son and pregnant daughter in law just found out today that they're both carriers for cystic fibrosis.  Which from what I found out reading about it about 50% of the people are.  And of that 50% half of the people actually get it and half don't.  But since both of them are carriers chances are the baby will be born with it.  They go later this week for a test on the baby.  So please say a prayer that everything is okay.  I know that they can live long lives with this, average age is 37, but it just scares me for them.  Thanks!

Dorothy Hamill has BC

I saw this on aol and was shocked.  I don't know if I notice it more because I'm a survivor or if it really is that there are more celebrities diagnosed too.

Menopause or not?

I was in perimenopause before chemo.  And it has almost been 3 years since chemo put me into menopause.

preventive bilateral mastectomy

No family history but I have been thinking of doing the same thing.  I'm just tired of worrying about a recurrence.  But I don't know if insurance would cover it and if people would think I'm crazy.

hot flashes

What is your er/pr status?  Some people have tried the antidepressant effexor and it worked for them.  Unfortunately it didn't for me and I learned to just deal with them.  Talk to your docs though, they can help you.

It was on the news that a couple in Indianapolis was arrested last night for leaving their 14 month old daughter in their car while they went grocery shopping.  The car was not running, and they were on the way home from having the little girl checked out at the emergency room for a bad cold.  She was asleep and they didn't want to wake her up to take her in.  Another shopper notified store managers who called police.

Can urine tests show anything?

Protein in the urine can be kidney problems or maybe there's too much sugar there.  I've got my fingers crossed for you!
