Happy Birthday SnowydayThanks Spar, I'm having a weird day though, my mom is finally getting better I can tell by her temper. My sister Susan was going to drive her to London from Kitchener, but we are having bad snow squalls and someone at her retirement place told her the weather here was beautiful and I had to put up 20 minutes of anger from her, I finally just told her, I love you, thank you for wishing me a happy biirthday but I'm not listening to this anymore. Oh what fun. I can't seem to keep my eyes open while I type. But Spar after my nap I'll start a story and we''ll call the banc Pain Machine, after the song I wrote for my son. (see p.m) I really have to sleep now. Bug Hugs. Pearl PN Dx 5/18/2007, ILC, 3cm, Stage IV, Grade 3, 0/2 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2+ |

Girlfriend recently diagnosed and is pushing me away...MME, please don't try and control the situation, I dumped my boyfriend when I found out and I'm still in treatment and still won't see him, he came over one night at 3:00 a.m. and I had my sister drive him to a friends close by. I just don't want a hero in my life this fight is so hard and to have someone so into it at first can be a hero trip for the guy, but once the puking and hair loss and steroid face happen, man you have to be with someone you really trust and believe that's not what she's thinking of now. Let her think things through on her time. Send her a card and some flowers. (NOT PINK) and when and if she's ready she'll contact you. Herceptin ProtocolI have to go back and read the study protocol's I didn't realize they were weekly infusions, or just by-passed that part. I had read the Finnish study about the timeling for getting herceptin and I really am wondering why I have to take it for a year and face the risk of a heart conditon, it's already making me fell really sick and my sis said I've completly changed since my second last treatment (it would have been my third treatment). I'm also starting herceptin a year after my chemo was finished and I read in one study where they said taking it sequenchly (sp) compared to concurrently doesn't work as well so I want to find out more about it. I just can't help wonder if the drug company is just making big bucks of off Herceptin and thats why in North America they are saying a year, it's the drug company recommendation the Dr.s are going by. I guess after being misdiagnosed twice now I just don't trust anyone in the cancer heath service (industry) any more. It causes me alot of worry and I'm very tired feeling that way as well. Girlfriend recently diagnosed and is pushing me away...I pushed people away at first as well, dumped my boyfriend after telling him, I didn't want a hero. And the shock of it at first made me want to curl up and be alone. But after the initial shock wore off I did need someone close, lucky for me my older sister just wouldn't give up and she has been a source of comfort and hope through all of my surgury, chemo and now herceptin. Just give her some time. If she will see a counsellor that might help as well as it's sometimes easier to let all your fears out to strangers than to close freinds at first. Good luck hang in there and let her know you'll be there. Your a great friend she is lucky to have and will realize it after going through a few phases, it almost makes you go through the mourning phases, at least for me it did. Big fat hugs! stupid heart dr!Get the Cat Scan you never know, I don't know if your on herceptin or not but it can cause heart problems and you've already had heart surgury. I really get tired of tests and scans but I'm doing it because I'd rather know if there are changes, as quickly as possible. Good luck and try relax a bit, I understand how frustrating it really can be. Big Hugs, Geeze again I had to change my big hugs always write Bug Hugs. Two more Herceptin treatments to go and now this!!!!Good luck daybyday, let me know how your tests turn out. It's good you asked it's better than worrying all the time. I really get annoyed when I'm not listened to. I really hope the tests come back okay, Drs. are very arrogant and I for one have learned to get what I want. Good luck PN Dx 5/18/2007, ILC, 3cm, Stage IV, Grade 3, 0/2 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2+ |

Herceptin & Heart Problems?!?I was terrified of the heart problems as well and sort of still worry. Herceptin isn't that bad, Did you have chemo and rads previously and if you did what was it. There is another thread in this section regarding heart problems try search for that in the search box at the top and read my posts because I was a total basketcase before I started, but so far so good. Make sure you request a Muga Scan for a baseline of your Heart before you start and they give them every three months in between. It took a long time to convince me I should take it but I am. You too can do it. Big Hugs PN Dx 5/18/2007, ILC, 3cm, Stage IV, Grade 3, 0/2 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2+ |

Good for you Heatherblocklear, I alway feel better after one, I get them when I feel such a lack of control about everything, the cancer, the Drs that don't listen, the unkown. I'm proud of you and really hope your results come quick and that they are nothing to serious. Big hugs, Pearl PN Dx 5/18/2007, ILC, 3cm, Stage IV, Grade 3, 0/2 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2+ |

Vitamin D roled questionedLIke most above I too will continue my Vitamin D, I somehow forgot to take for a few weeks and boy did I notice a difference in my mood, maybe I'm just weird, but I find that when I take my D vitamins I feel better mentally. Why do "they" redo these studies you would think that the money they spend to discredit Vitamins and Nutrition, could be used for a better purpose, like say clinical trials for DCA. Just dreaming ladies. PN Dx 5/18/2007, ILC, 3cm, Stage IV, Grade 3, 0/2 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2+ |

Strange Symptoms UpdateWhen I first started Morphine, boy I itched, and was dizzy and pukey and I dreamed alot. I stayed on the couch for about 30 days and they had to play with my dosage alot to get it right. I really hope that's all it is. I wish that onc would have checked her ears right then and there. But I am relieved that she is having an MRI just in case. All the se's are so confusing and she is lucky her onc is taking this seriously. Good luck to your friend. Bi Mam with a port? Has anyone had thisI was informed that I have to have a Bi Mam on the 14th. of December but I am terrified of them ruining my port in the right breast, the rads were on the left breast. Has anyone had a mammogram with a port in. My port is low enough that it will stretch the tubes (sp) and I'm afraid they will rip off the port. I'm I just being a scardy cat, or do they have a way to do this so it won't pull on the port. Thanks Pearl PN Dx 5/18/2007, ILC, 3cm, Stage IV, Grade 3, 0/2 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2+ |

I need help....doxilI just typed in Doxil clinical trials and found a bunch, I went through google. There are many different ones, I was on Docetaxol and the only thing I'd really be concerned about is if you are HER 2 positive as you might end up one Herceptin if you are and both meds are hard on the heart. They do recommend gettiing a MUGA scan before starting Doxil, so I'd mention that to your Onc. Good luck PN Dx 5/18/2007, ILC, 3cm, Stage IV, Grade 3, 0/2 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2+ |

SEs from Herceptin???The onc should explain what side effects to look for, the most important, swelling of ankles and fingers, edema, shortness of breath, fatique, like if you climb stairs your used to and all of sudden your not climbing them the same or you find you have to stop to catch your breath, Then let the Cancer centre know right away. Your going to be fine, it's much better than chemo. Hugs. PN Dx 5/18/2007, ILC, 3cm, Stage IV, Grade 3, 0/2 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2+ |

Who to talk to about back pain?See your family Dr. and ask for an MRI of the area. You said the pain isn't sciatica, but it's not being managed by advil with as you know is an antinflamatory and after a week I woud think it would have improved. I would go with a chiropractor unitl you know what's really going on with your back. It could be a disc thats pushing on the spinal column and that is really painful and the pain doesn't go away with advil, I have scar tissue growing around a previous surgical site and it presses on the spinal nerve. I think what I'm saying is get a proper diagnosis for your back. And good luck. PN Dx 5/18/2007, ILC, 3cm, Stage IV, Grade 3, 0/2 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2+ |
