Connecting With Others Who Have a Similar Diagnosis + HER2/neu Positive Breast Cancer, Created: Jul 6, 2007 04:02 pm
HER2 3+ Pos, ER-, PR- What does this mean?I am 31 and had a bilateral mastectomy on June 20th. 2CM tumor in right breast no node involvement. I went to have my port put in yesterday and got the results back from the specimen that was sent out. I am very confused on this diagnosis. I meet with my oncologist on Monday but am wondering if anyone can explain it to me Thanks!

Pending mastectomyI had a skin sparing bilateral mastectomy with expanders on June 20. I was home the next day showering and even washed my own hair. I'm not going to tell you there is no pain but it is my like you worked out really hard. It is mostly in the muscle. Since they cut your nerve endings you do not feel where the incision is. The doctor took out i drain before I left the hospital and I am seeing her tomorrow to hopefully have the other 3 removed. The drains are more uncomfortable right now than anything because they are starting to itch and they are a little tender. If I were faced with the same decisions I would make the same choices. Good luck to you and keep us updated.

mastectomyI am 31 and just had a bilateral mastectomy last Wed 6/20 at 11:30. I came home from the hospital on Thursday at 2:30, took a shower and even washed my own hair. I had reconstruction with expanders and I think that is what is most uncomfortable. Your muscles just feel really sore. I am definately suprised at how good I feel. I have been taking pain medication but only 2-3 per day. I can take 1-2 every 4 hours if I want. If I had to do it over I would not change a thing, plus now I have the piece of mind. Do what you feel is the right choice for you and trust me when I say it was not even close to as bad as myself and my family thought it would be. Good luck to you.

Going in for bilateral mastectomy and recon on WedI had my surgery yesterday at 11:30 and came home today around 2. It was not at bad as I thought. Of course I am sore, I had the expanders put in also. But today I showered and even washed my own hair. The good news is,
frozen pathology showed no cancer in the sentinol node, but I should find out the size and stage tomorrow. Thank you everyone for your kind words and support. |

Going in for bilateral mastectomy and recon on WedThank you everyone for giving me some more information. It is just pretty scary not knowing exactly what will happen. To me I know it is the right thing to do, but still the idea of waking up without any breasts or nipples I am afraid will be more of a shock than I think. I know the hardest part is going to be not holding my daughter. I had two miscarraiges before her and 1 after, so she is pretty much my whole world (and my husband too)! You all seem so caring and quick to respond I really appreciate it. And I will keep you all updated post surgery. Thanks again!

Going in for bilateral mastectomy and recon on WedI'm 31 and have a 17 month old daughter. I am scheduled for bilateral mastectomy on Wed the 20th. I know that I am making the right decision but I am very scared and nervous. Can anyone please tell what is in store for me when I get out of surgery and the recovery period. Thanks so much!
