I'm bitchy, I moan, I groan.....anyway.

cmb35,

I am also thin, and even though since starting Tamoxifen, I've gained weight, it's all in the tummy region.  Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that as someone who used to be a size zero, but now I wear a size 6 jeans, it is hard being thin!  The lady at the jeans store just rolled her eyes, and said "YOU are not going to get ANY sympathy from me!"

But, seriously, as far as the reconstruction goes...  you are right, we are kind of limited in the type of reconstruction we can get.  My ps just went under my chest muscle and put in the implants and then he filled them up with saline.  This way, I didn't have to go through the expanders with the fills, so it was done all at once.  The only problem I noticed was that it DID hurt at first, because I was being stretched all at once!  Also, they looked like TWO water balloons, until they 'settled' in.  Now they don't look too bad, though.

Felicia,

I like your comment to the stupid person who said :OMG!  You are sooo skinny!"  I wish I had thought of it.   Laughing

Bottle 'o Tamoxifen

Basha,

We must have the same dr.!  He sent me a letter telling me that my cholesterol levels are elevated, and explaining what to do about it.  I think I had very low numbers when I had my first bone density test several years ago, but I've never had a dr. who cared enough to tell me what to do about it.
I know, I know....  I'll have to get that checked out when I see my onc next month.  Sheesh!  Can't I EVER just have a nice uneventful month?

The Respectfully Republican Conversation

Shirley,

I am so glad that you don't need root canals!  We don't have dental insurance.  DH lost his when he retired.  He had the option of purchasing a plan through Delta dental, but he opted out, since it's so expensive.  Now he has found out that it is a really good plan, so he may go back and beg them to take us.

On the topic of health insurance, here's a news article about the National Health Plan...  If they start that, I think it will be a BIG mistake!  Looks like if we get that, the premiums will go UP even more, to the point where we won't be able to afford health insurance!  JMHO

Ok ... it's just the link...

Bottle 'o Tamoxifen

Amber,

.... (I'm whispering...) the neck pain seems better today...  I've been using a heating pad at night well, ok, it's a water bottle, and they are rather uncomfortable!

I also think it may be the Tamoxifen.  I go back to my onc next month, and let me tell you, he will get an earful!!

Thanks, everyone for letting me whine so much!!

CMF Question

Annie,

My dh says it's because I'm on the computer so much!  I have given up the heavy handbags, since I always stuff them, and that was when I noticed some neck and shoulder pain.    I think this time, the neck pain started when I got up from laying on the bed suddenly, and I had this SHARP pain!  OUCH!  Anyway, it has been like a real sharp pain, in the back of my head!  It was on the left side at first, but then it moved to the right.  It seems better today, but I don't want to aggravate things.  I've been putting a heating pad (ok, a water bottle) on it at night, and that seems to help some.

Carol,

Have a great vacation!

Rita,

I'll try to get back to you later...  Those questions are HARD!  Oh, and I'm not very smart!!

CMF Question

Julie,

So sorry about Allie!  I know it is SO HARD!  About six years ago, my first cat, Axel had cancer, and we had to put him down.  It was the hardest thing I EVER had to do!!  He was supposed to come live with us at the beach, when we moved, but he didn't make it.  He was suffering, so we just had to let him go...

Rita,

I am staying off the computer for awhile... I got your email, and will try to reply, but I'm going MIA for awhile... this neck pain has gotten worse, and I don't know what to do about it.  I'm terrified to go and get tested to find out what it is...  Seems like NOTHING is helping with the pain.

Bottle 'o Tamoxifen

Virginia

I'm giving the job search a break, since it seems that there really aren't any jobs available...  I think that maybe I need to have a friend in high places, who can make sure I get hired.  I'm depressed about all this.

Oh, and my neck is really hurting lately.  Don't know if it's the Tamoxifen or what, but the NSAIDS that I am taking to help with the pain are NOT helping...  I can't help but worry about...  well, you know, the possibility that it could be....   I can't even type it.

Bye... since dh thinks the neck pain is because I'm always on the computer, I may have to go MIA for awhile....  I don't think it's caused by my constant computer use....

I'm bitchy, I moan, I groan.....anyway.

Lisa, that SUX!!

I remember back in September, when I saw my surgeon about the lump I felt in my non existent breast!  On the paperwork he wrote about my visit, it said  BREAST MASS....   I said OH SHIT!  Here I go again!  I was just terrified!

You WILL be ok...  Just hang in there, and we are all praying for you, as Wish said...

I can't get my act together and I don't know why

Sue,

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, and praying that all your scans will turn out CLEAR!

You are right... the worry NEVER goes away!  I'm worrying still, and it's been over a year since my chemo ended.  I've been having this terrible neck pain, and I'm scared to go back to the dr. to get it checked out!  I know, I'm a real chicken!!

CMF Question

Colleen

Yes, I had reconstruction also, so if you have any questions, and want to pm me, I would be glad to answer any questions you have!!
Good Luck!!

Rita,

Waiting to hear more from you, about this project...  must say that I'm intrigued!!  The Reach to Recovery training is on hold... Denise, the woman who is in charge of the program, has been in the hospital, and no one knows when she'll be back...  I'm frustrated!

I can't get my act together and I don't know why

Miss S.

I'd LOVE to have all ya'll visit!  My dh would be happy to cook for us!  That's why I keep him around, you know.  He may wear sweat pants, and procrastinate about doing house maintenance work, but he cooks!!, and he sometimes does the laundry, and he helps to get the house cleaned up in a hurry, if we are expecting company!!

Isabella,

It is good that we can occasionally take our pets meds.... LOL  I NEVER thought of that!!

Wish,

I heard that if someone flunks out of VETERINARIAN school, they become a HUMAN doctor!  Isn't that really pitiful??  We should be able to go to the drs., and just say 'woof' or 'meow', and the doc should KNOW right away what's wrong!!

Wish, you MOPPED the floor, after your endo. bx??  Are you nuts, woman?!!  After my D & C, I just laid around, watching TV, and took Hydrocodone for the pain!  I look for excuses NOT to do housework!!

After my bilateral mast., my MIL came and cleaned once a week.  After about 3 weeks, I asked my surgeon when I could resume 'normal' activities, like vacuuming and that kind of stuff.  I explained that my MIL was coming over once a week to vacuum and clean, and he said "So, how's that working out for you?"  He agreed not to say anything.  It was our secret!

Shirley,

Yes, my dh wears sweat pants around the house, but at least he WILL change before we go out, and I am grateful for that!

CMF Question

Jill,

It was just scar tissue, and I'm hoping for b-9 results for you, too!  I had a bilateral mast in May 2007, and when I felt that lump on the same side as the bc, I thought OH, SH*T!!  Here I go again!  But, after my surgeon ordered an u/s, I found out it was only scar tissue!

Sending Big HUGS your way!!

CMF Question

Rita,

It makes perfect sense to me that you don't want to celebrate your 2 year anniversary until you get your mammo and your surgeon appts. over with, and then you can really celebrate!  Lurking in the back of my mind is always the worry about upcoming tests.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!  Take care.

How my Onc & Breast Cancer Just Saved My Life

Otter,

I wouldn't be so cruel as to have them buy me food BEFORE they are able to eat lunch with me.

My dh watched FOOD NETWORK while I was waiting for them to come get me and take me to the procedure room.  That was so cruel!!

I am SO glad I didn't have to drink that Fleet Phospho soda... YICK!

How my Onc & Breast Cancer Just Saved My Life

OH, guys... guess what?  Tomorrow, I have to take two friends, Liz and her boyfriend, Bob, to the hospital for THEIR colonoscopies!  They have NEVER EVER had a colonoscopy.  Why would a dr. set up BOTH tests for the SAME day??  How stupid!  Now NO ONE can drive, and that is why I was elected to drive them.  I'm not thrilled about it, but maybe I will make them buy me lunch from Burger King!! Laughing

Patrice,

I thought you were SERIOUS about the STAGE IV cellulite...  I was thinking WOW!  I never heard of such a terrible disease!    I'm stage 3 1/2!!
