Lat Flap faded yet?Can I tell you what is working for me right now... self tanners. After my friend told me about bleaching I was trying to think of what else I could do in the interim.. and bam... self tanner. Makes it all the same color :) :). ST. Tropez makes a great one. I think I am going to look into lazer later on too. My friend said it has made a HUGE difference for her. She is thrilled. There are probably so many techniques that we just don't know about out there unless we share :) :) |

Lat Flap faded yet?I guess her entire chest area... I am going to call the PS's office and get the scoop. I suppose lots of people have their skin bleached, so I would imagine it would work with differences between the flap and regular chest area. The lazer worked fantastic for her. It was a few treatments she said but the redness is all but gone. After going through this he** it is just so wonderful that she had the birth of a child to look forward to. |

the FASHION threadThose boas sounds like a great fundraising idea to me. KAK- Love the red shoes. Nine West has a new pair of red patterned pumps that I just love. I found a whole bunch of funky Nine West pumps on Zappos! Also, my friend has the cutest Dooney and Bourke Giraffe Print handbag.. she got it in Vegas at the Venitian. I have been |

Lat Flap faded yet?Linda54, Just dawned on me what you meant about Barbie Boobs... haha. No nips. I just emailed with a friend of mine who was having some cosmetic issues with her lat flap etc. She still had some redness after a year and went to have some laser treatments which she said have made an amazing difference. She also said that after the birth of her child in April (yeah for her!) she is going back to have her chest bleached so all the colors will match. I thought that sounded amazing as well. |

the FASHION threadI just visted the House of Heels. Cool. I like how some of the shoes have a price range you can find. Pretty neat! Is there a site called "House of Bras" so that I can locate a bra that actually fits right! |

the FASHION threadI have seen quite a few of those coats in TJs recently. I live in Central MA as well and have to agree they don't have much out this way. I love that dress Raye99. I have purchased a few cute sweaters from VS. I love this thread and just recently found it. I am a handbag and shoe fanatic! They kept my spirits up during my recon. A good Prada bad, Choo(s) and a great scarf --I felt great! :) |

Lat Flap faded yet?I had my bilateral back in 9/07 with a LAT FLAP on the left side. The regular line scar on my right side is nearly faded to nothing, but my LAT FLap still had pink outlining it and hasn't really faded at all. Does this ever blend, really? I have posted before about how much I hate this flap. Just wondering if other LAT Flappers who are further out feel it blends more now? |

RE: Small Scar RevisionMarian, Can you explain more about the scar revision. I was suppose to have purse strings, but while I was under the PS told my surgeon he can't work with the purse strings because the nipple recon doesn't come out well enough. So when I woke up I had long scars.... and I am not even sure I want nipples... so I was frustrated. Although now the long scar is nearly faded (course not my LAT FLAP side). |

Any GOOD results after rads ??I had Lat Flap and implants about a year after rads. I honestly think I would have done fine without the Lat Flap because I never really had any redness or problems during rads. I have had no problems with my recon so far (knock on wood!). |

Don't want more surgery - nippleCathie, I posted another topic just like this. I need to have some stitches replaced on my left side that let go and want nipples, but don't want more surgery. I have canceled twice. Everything has healed well (except for the falling to the left of my left boob) and I worry about risking something happening. Also, I have tons of rippling and would like to swap out my saline for silicone.. but.. well I won't even get started on my worries about that. Anyway, I completely get where you are coming from.. I am right there with you. Maybe we can work each other through it :) :) |

After mastectomy, hard lumps in armpitsI have a lump as well and it was diagnosed as an "oil cyst" I guess as some of the scar tissue dies it creates this pocket of oil. Here I thought I had heard of everything possible :). It is a benign thing. They checked it out on the ultrasound machine and in 6 months I will have either mammo or MRI just to keep double check. |

Lifetime movieI cried as well. Just thinking how painful it must have been for him to turn people away. Makes you angry but you get it... its the stupid rules that the government places on all this stuff that makes it so difficult to get anything done. You wonder how many other treatments are out there they companies are just pushing away.... It was a terrific movie... amazing |

I miss my breasts.A year out and I still miss my breast. I felt just like Slortiz. Casual about the mastectomy when it happened, but now I am miserable about it. I sit in the shower and cry. The shower is where I used to be able to get away from my troubles and relax.. now I am reminded of what I had to do to my body evey time I enter the shower. I can't seem to move forward. I need to have my niplles done and some revisions and I just can't bring myself to do it. I haven't been intimate in a long time. My husband doesn't seem to be interested, so I just avoid the topic. When I watched Why I Wore Lipstick to my Mastectomy it made me wish I had a partner like that....... |

can you reverse a LAT FLAPHi Linda, I just hate the skin graft. I did have rads, but no redness at all. Wished I had risked trying the recon without the LAT Flap. I can't stop thinking about how terrible it looks. Particularly where the other side has this nice straight, almost faded to nothing line :). Do your flaps stick up a little. My PS said there is still fat under there and it will puff up with weight gain? He said he could lipo it. Hope you are heading well! Lisa |

Silicone Implants & MRIs- Who Will Get them? Can I tell you that I haven't had my teeth cleaned this year because I read that they think there might be a connection to Capsular Contraction.. so I brush and floss my teeth 5 times a day..haha. Terrible huh. But I want to wait until I am all healed before I screw around with my teeth. |

Shouldn't of had MRI w/ EXPANDER!I had a similar experience. The day I came home from my mastectomy I had to go to the ER because my pupil was dilated. The doctor on duty sent me in for a head xray and then wanted me to have an MRI... then he came back and said the xray showed some sort of device at the beginning of my expander and I needed to find out if it was metal first... he thought it was fine, but wasn't sure. I think ER departments, MRI departments need to be more updated on these things. I had no idea, but new enough to say I would wait until I spoke with someone first. I did read the expander could have exploded out of my body, my PS didn't that that would have ever happened but did say not to have an MRI. He also needed to write me a note so I could get through security on our vacation ::). Something else to think about. If I were you I would certainly report them, if for nothing else to educate them |

Skin sparing mastectomies and implants?I had skin sparing, but slow fills. 50 ccs each week. I went to about 330ccs and I ended up a 34D, but I think it depends on your body structure. I would agree with PJF that if you can't tolerate pain go slow. The pain only lasts a day for me. I still would recommend the expanders. I was so excited to get my new implants after my fills were done. |
