Four years and time to say goodbye

My sisters

In a couple of weeks it will be the four year anniversary of my diagnosis with cancer. At that point I would never have known how important and how precious this site would become to me.

Early this year I had a number of personal issues from elderly and sick parents, to sick kids to exploding air conditioners etc that  kept me offline for a number of weeks and I was devastated when I came back to find out how many sisters we had lost during those few weeks I was gone.

Today though I have something else that is making me sad... What is with all the backstabbing and hostility on the boards?  What are the newbies thinking when they see those posts? Some of you may have noticed I have not posted much recently to be perfectly honest I just don't know what to say anymore. I used to feel safe here. In many ways I feel this site saved me. But now I feel it is time to move on.

I beg you ladies remember the fear and uncertainties we all go through and be there for our newbie sisters. Help and love our sisters with reoccurrence and help them work through the issues of treatment and pain. Remember that this battle is with the beast not each other.

Please make this place a haven again, a haven of support and love

That being said this is goodbye from me. To all that I have come to know and love over the last 4 years thank you just isn't enough.

I love you all

Kat

femara pain

Sally

you and I are going through so many similar things. The femara pain is driving me crazy too. At first my Onc refused to believe that my pain was in way related to the AIs. I told him to read this site because all these woen can't be making this up.

I got diverticulitis at  Thanksgiving last year and had a recurrence in January. Luckily i new the warning signs the second time and I did not have to be hospitalized, I got some mega antibiotics and it cleared up. Anyway Rant away girl cause I understand what you are going through.

Hugs

Kat

Femara - what do you do when nothing helps the pain

Ladies

I was on Tamoxifen for 3 years and now I have been on Femara for 4 months. I have mild hot flashes and I have put on some weight but thats not the issue. The issue is I have really bad joint, bone and muscle pain in my legs and feet. Often over the counter pain relievers do not help. I sit in a hot tub sometimes but I have Lymphadema in my right arm so heat is not a good plan for me. I am high risk of reoccurence having lost a sister and 2 aunts to the beast, so I really don't want to quit femera. But how do I deal with this pain. Sometimes I can hardly walk. I don't want to take prescription pain killers because I handle equipment at work.

What can I do.

Any suggestions

Kat

Play Ball-- any Baseball fans?

I heard that the fans are great in the minor leagues too and that each team has there own culture and the fans really buy into it. I have not made any minor league games in our area even thou there are 2 teams near by,  but  I managed to make 2 spring training games this year. Went to opening of spring training at Dodger-town. Braves vs Dodgers. The Dodgers are leaving to move to AZ. So we wanted to make sure we got to see a game there one last time. Dodger-town is a great facility, Has that old time baseball feel about it. You are so close to the field and you can talk to the players. We also went to Nationals vs Braves at the nationals spring training facility in Viera.

Another baseball fan here. I have been a Braves fan for decades. My son is a Mets fan so things get a little testy at our house during the seasonLaughing.

Femara SE's - brain fog and more

I am there with you too. At first I wasn't sure if the brain fog was because I wasn't sleeping. I wake up 3 or 4 times a night with pain in my joints, legs and feet. So I thought the fog and tiredness was from that. But even when i take something for pain and get a good night sleep I am still a mess. Plus my hair is really thinning in the front. I at high risk too. I lost a sister and aunt to the beast. I too am beginning to wonder if the pain and fog are worth it.

I'm bitchy, I moan, I groan.....anyway.

3 months from Hell....

So I have been gone from the boards for probably 3 months now. First daughter got sick, then hubby got sick, then son got sick, and then I got sick. Not just a cold sick we all had different things and it was a long haul. Well we made it through all the sickness, then I had a run of not so fun events, tires on the family car got slashed, sons college loan got turned down, daughter's college scholarship got partially cut, air conditioning died (I know its winter but I live in Florida) needed to be completely replaced (thousands of dollars) and then I find out my real estate taxes have doubled. Then since the black cloud is over us anyway ...the transmission on hubby's car gave out. So I was felling pretty down about being completely broke with 2 kids in college and one on the way to college and then ... my mom got really sick. She is 80 and barely weights 105 lbs, I was so worried. Anyway mom is over the worst, and then yesterday I find out a dear friend who had helped me thru chemo etc has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Okay now I am really pissed.

So today my lymphademia arm is aching and swollen and my chest and reconstruction on that side hurts like a $%&#$, so I come back to the boards to bitch and whine , maybe get a little hug from the people who understand best and I find out while I have been gone there have been so many sisters lost.

And I burst into tears...

Kat

Massage/Risk With Lymphdema

Chattie

I actually had a spa day that included a neck and face massage and it seriously aggravated my LE in my right arm. My suggestion would be to stay away from the neck based on my experience. We had a thread going talking about this. I hope this link works

Stupid things people have said since I was told I have cancer!

Well I think the "IT" comment takes the cake for stupid comments, but I can add one for amusement. The lady next door saw me out in the driveway picking up the newspaper. Here I am skinny, pale and very bald. She says to me "OMG I cant believe you shaved all those beautiful long curls. I always knew you were out there, is this some kind of punk phase?"

All I could think of is, what planet does this woman live on?

What's your favorite memory/tradition for the holidays?

When I was a littel girl in Jamaica, we would go to mass at midnight on Christmas Eve. It was always so wonderful. Everyone would dress up in their brightest colors. It was so so colorful and I don't think I have ever heard singing like that anywhere else. There would be singing and dancing that would often spill out of the church into the street. Everyone would look so happy and my mom would tell me it was the world's largest birthday party. You know Jamaicans can party.

Very advanced B.C.: Diane's final gift.

Bimmer,

I am so sorry.

There will come a day
when your tears of sorrow
will softly flow into tears of remembrance...
and your heart will begin to heal itself...
and grieving will be interrupted by episodes of joy...
and you will hear the whisper of hope.
There will come a day
when you will welcome the tears of remembrance...
as a sunshower of the soul...
a turning of the tide...
a promise of peace.

Very advanced B.C. A Commentary.

So I submitted to the Florida Today the newspaper for Central Florida's Space Coast. Got an email back saying that they have a 200 word limit and they may edit the letter or not post it at all.

The frustration continues..... How are we supposed to get the word out?
