Me, too

Lisa,

Your post about your feelings of being a forever patient really struck home with me...it's what's been happening that I couldn't quite put into words. I've had progression ever since dx and nothing seems to stop it and so just today, I've finished my 2nd round of abraxane/avastin. I know it's supposed to be less harsh than the others, but it really kicked my ass. loaded me up with steroids this time and will start oral ones tomorrow. The 1st dose completely wiped out my white count and getting zometa and neuplasta on the same day was probably not a good idea.

Anyhoo, Your positive words following your thoughts(that I share) have really helped me to get my head on straight and think positive. Thank you.

Enjoy the hell out of your hugaghan...I'm jealous!! :-) They are made with love to comfort you when life looks shi**y!! As you said "I am *determined* to respond to treatment and I'm giving this every thing I have, and dammit, I'm determined too. But, yep, those damned thoughts start swirling around....But, I WILL see remission this time, I WILL!!!

Again, thanks for helping this sister through a rough nite. And the boat's still being loaded and can carry as many crew as we want since this is cyberspace. Anchors away!! Let's go!

A little update...(my hip)

Fitz,

It never ceases to amaze me that time and again, from billing to insurance to Docs, we must be our own advocate. What do poor old people do???

The good news is that they found the reason for your hip pain. Now, what to do about it? Since your ortho is the top of his field, I'm sure you'll be confident with his advise. Take it really easy til you get to see him.

Best thoughts are with you!!

Me, too

Lisa,

OK, now you've got the real scoop from your doc. I have a pair of big girl panties that you can borrow for the Gamma knife tx...they work really good and help to kick cancers ass by scaring it to death. I'm with you...no unnecessary hospital time!! Fists up, Hon!!!

The SSDI thing is a pain, but once it's done, it's done and well worth it.

The Captain and crew are standing by for the BoraBora trip. I've started ordering provisions for the ship....they're loading the Pina Coladas now!!

Chest Pain

Tabitha,

Because chest pain can be caused by so many different things, you need to have it checked out. Call your family dr. He can order the tests necessary to find the cause or at least, rule other causes out. It is always imperative that chest pain be looked at- the sooner the better.

Told The Kiddies.....Sigh

Kelly,

Why do kids always ask the tough questions when you're in the car? I remember my oldest son (who was 6 at the time) asking from the back seat,"Mom, where do babies come from?"!!:-)

I feel so sad that we have to have this conversation with our kids, and damn angry too.

It sounds like you told them in a loving and caring way. Kids will handle it and adjust.

Abby,

How scary...what a way to wake up! Nope, I don't think your body liked that drug very much! Enjoy your time with your family and come back with new strength to fight. I'm sure there is a drug that will work just as well for you and be alot kinder to your body.
