Connecting With Others Who Have a Similar Diagnosis + Triple Negative, Created: Sep 17, 2007 09:11 am
New to triple negativeHi Ladies I just found out I'm a member of the triple negative club. I had a modified radical mastectomy of my left breast on Aug 20. My Sentinal node was the only one out of 11 to test positive. My margins were clear. the tumor was 3.2cm and a grade 3 I'm a stage IIB. My chemo will start Oct. 2 Thank God for this forum. this is the only positive stuff I have read since I got the news last Thursday! Everything I've read about triple negative is so scary. |

October 2007 Chemo GirlsHi Roach 59 Thanks for the info Believe it or not the surgery was not so bad. I only stayed in the hospital one night. I was thankful for that because my kids were pretty freaked out with the hospital. We were all more comfortable at home. The worse part of the whole thing were the drain tubes they put under my arm. They were so uncomfortable. They didn't really hurt, just a pain in the butt! I was thankful to have them removed last week. Having a small pillow to put under my arm really helped me to feel more comfortable. My surgery was 4 weeks ago and I am feeling great. I am excited to head off to work today just to get out of the house and have something to do! I'm glad to hear your chemo was not so horrible. I hope I have the same experience. |

Tests, Treatments & Side Effects + Just Diagnosed, Created: Aug 24, 2007 05:53 pm
Everything is moving so fastThree weeks ago a spot was discovered on my yearly mammogram. On Monday I had a Modified Radical Masectomy of my left breast. I am 49 years old and have been having mammograms every year since I turned 40. I had no lumps or bumps in my breast so all of this is so hard to comprehend. The whole pathology report is not back yet, but my oncologist gave us some preliminary information yesterday. The tumor was 3.2cm and was deep in my left breast against the chest wall. The Sentinal node tested positive, although the 3 nodes closest to the Sentinal were negative. My margins were clear.
Right now I am not feeling any great pain just alot of discomfort under my left arm. They sent me home with the incision dressed and wrapped in a velcro bra. I find I am more comfortable with the bra undone and not pressing against the dressing. Sometimes the pressure is just too much and when take it off I feel much better. I am told that the Chemo will start when the incision heals. We have to wait a few more days for the whole path report before my many questions csn be answered. My daughter found this site and I am so grateful for that. I really need to connect with a support group right now. |
