SNB Recovery QuestionsGigi, It sounds like your mother-in -law has had a reaction to the dye they use during the snb surgery. Methylene blue dye is used during surg to locate the sentinal node. Some drs do this during surg,so they can watch the dye flow to the node. Its not the same as the radioactive dye.Problem is... methylene blue dye can cause a skin reaction (skin and fat necrosis) in some people. Have mom see her dr asap as this can become a nasty infection. I know this only because it happened to me,all that remains is an ugly little scar. This is pretty rare, but she will be fine. Good Luck, Terry Dx 7/19/2007, DCIS, <1cm, Stage 0, Grade 2, 0/1 nodes, ER+/PR+ |

mammo questionI am having a conflict between my BS, and the radiologist at the imaging center.I had a lumpectomy in Sept., finished rads Dec 13th,my surgeon wants me to have a mammo in Feb.The imaging center says to wait for 6 months after completing rads. I would like to know what others experience has been. When was your 1st mammo? |

November rad girls check in here!!Dink, thats great news! I had my lump. Sept 14th, finished rads on Dec.13th,have my mammo scheduled for March 20. I have read differing times about the 1st mammo after treatment ...from 6 weeks past tx to 6 months (go figure) different Dr. different plans. I did check for lumps and so far everything feels OK. I know what you you mean about staying on top of things.I don't have any grandchildren yet, but I'm looking forward to it. Pam, sorry to here about your gyn problems. Hope all your tests are clear.I understand, its hard not to worry.I'm on day 12 of the tamox, so far not a problem, except for a few hot flashes. Please let us know how your tests turn out. That vag. ultrasound sounds like the pitts! Renne, I can relate ....I've never been one to take pills either. My dh gave me a little silver pill box that I put next to the coffee maker, he knows I never forget my coffee! |

What is my boob going to look like after lumpectomy?I'm 49 and I'm also a C cup, had surg in Sept., no dent, no change in size , just a little tan at this point from the radiation,I had last month. Good luck, I'm sure you will be fine....this is just a bump in the road. |

November rad girls check in here!!Dink, I am having the shooting pains you describe,as far as the lumps or nodules go...... I'm kinda scared to check.I'm still very tan, but other than that my skin looks ok. Had my 1st hot flash from the tamox today, so now I under stand what all the fuss is about!Whew, flash is an under statement! When will you have you 1st mamo? I'm already starting to worry about that. Terry |
