Waterlily TripleNeg How Are You?I'm ok. I haven't been able to do chemo because of my counts being low. I sleep most of the time and trying to feel better. I'm on 1000mg of cipro antibotics right now for sinus & upper respiratory. infection. The story never ends. If all goes well I'll get a treatment the day before thanksgiving
. Thanks for thinking of me. God is able, stephanie "The girl who became emotionally distraught, and wavered at each new set of circumstances is now grown up, a woman who has learned to rely on God's sovereignty" Joni Eareckson Tada |

Life Insurance QuestionI actually did take advantage of mine and took money out. I set up a trust fund for the executors of my estate to use immediately at my death if needed for my kids and not have to wait for the funds through processing claims etc.. The money that I took is in a money market and has already increased by $500 dollars. I also used some and bought a burial plot next to my father and paid for my funeral expenses so my family doesn't have to worry about it. I still have lots of money left on the policy so all is good. It's been a great benefit to me. fatigue or depressionI'm suffering with the same thing. I feel like I'm a prisoner to my bedroom and friends have slowing stopped coming over because I'm always in the bed. I wonder how much of it is depression and how much of it breast cancer/treatment. I feel it's a combination of both. I don't want to take antidepressants because of my brain mets. I was just wondering about this exact same subject tonight. I wonder about qol right now. Is this living of just cheating death? I want to live but it's outside my bedroom and if I could just get there, it would be great. Maybe tomorrow. Strange Symptoms UpdateAngie - The morphine caused me to have some balance problems when I was taking it. The effects just sort of lingered for a couple of days. Hope it's just a side-effect of the morphine. The Recession and Social Security BenefitsThe recession is affecting all of us I'm sure. How safe are our social security benefits in this economy? Can the fund go belly up or is it secured by something? I know that it's paid from current workers but with the workforces shrinking so can those funds. Social Security Disability and child support are my only sources of income. I'm not losing sleep by it but there's a first time for everything. Even without the recession on the forefront, the social security system has been in trouble. The SS funds are invested in the stock market I'm sure. A little update...(my hip)Fitz- If I've learned anything during this pilgrimage it's that advocacy is imperative; it's sometimes called bitchiness. It's just as important as the chemo and the scans and the blood work. Advocacy saves lives. I'm praying for you and with you Janis; You're my Shero. I need your advice asap pleaseThanks everybody for your feedback. After reading everybody's response I feel better about their decision to stop the carboplatin for the sake of moving forward. It's still on the shelf so to speak like Luann said. Fitztwins I sure do hope that the taxol is a stronger chemo. I have faith that this will give me a good response but the trial has so many flow charts of "If", 'Then", "Else" that I never know from week to week what's going on and often times feel frustrated. Thanks for helping me talk through and rationalize their decision. I think we're on common ground now. I'm more accepting of it atleast. Nothing like a Online Forum Summit! I need your advice asap pleaseI went to take my chemo yesterday. For the past 3 weeks I've been unable to take it because my counts were low (one week it was 700, 800 and today it was 2000). I'm on a clinical trial of Carboplatin, Taxol and Everolimus (aka Rad001 - the trial drug). Since my counts have bounced back they decided to let me have chemo and I was elated. He prescribed me a 500mg antiboitic for 5 days to clear up a possible sinus infection or kidney infection . Here's the problem, I start to receive my chemo and the clinical trail nurse comes in and says, "we're not going to give you the cisplatin anymore because it's tanking your counts and you can't consistantly recieve treatment because of it". They haven't adjusted the dosage at all or tried to tweek it and I'm concerned about losing the cisplatin because it's the best one since I'm triple negative right? I was too drowsy from the benadryl to ask more questions. What do you think about me losing the carbo (cisplatin) but keeping the Paclitaxel and the trial drug? What would you do? I'd rather drop out of the trial than lose the cisplatin personally; but I value your opinions too. Teeth misaligned - Is it a SE of chemo?I wore braces for 3 years and had perfect teeth. Now my teeth are shifting and are misaligned. By misaligned I mean, when I bear down my teeth they don't feel like they are lined up and my bite is off. Does chemo shift your teeth or jaws or something? If this is the only thing I have to worry about then I'm good but was just wondering if anyone else experienced this too. NeutropeniaGreta- I have missed the last three chemo sessions due to low counts. I think it's a normal part of the fight. I don't know anyone who's ever gone through chemo without their immune system being compromised. I want to fight but when I go and they tell me can't have it, part of me is quite pleased. Continue to take good care of yourself and your body will do the rest. PARACENTESISI've heard two different theories on draining fluid. One is that it's not a good idea because it depletes nurients from the body quicker than a person can consume thus making the patient weaker. The second theory is that draining the fluid makes the person more mobile and improves quality of life. I had a friend who had it done and it came back within days. I had an uncle who didn't have it done and he did fine for a long while but he was uncomfortable. I don't know which I would do at this point. I trust my onc and I would more than likely do what ever he recommended. I hope someone comes along and gives you more insight. Praying for healing.
