Tests, Treatments & Side Effects + Radiation Therapy - Before, During and After, Created: May 14, 2008 06:11 pm
May galsHad my first rad Tuesday 5/13. I am already a little pink and kinda warm all the way across my chest. I asked the rad techs and they told me not to put any kind of cream or lotion on. Just wondering if anyone else was told that and if I should just go ahead and use aloe even though they said don't. Diane

May galsHey everyone. I got my markings Monday 5/2 and will start my rads on Monday 5/9. I had a double mastectomy so I will be radiated all the way across my chest, under my arms and a place on my neck. Thanks for all the info on products to use. I am a little apprehensive, but surely it can't be worse than chemo... Diane |

My Hair!!! Part 2I lost my hair exactly two weeks from the date of my first treatment. First treatment ws 12/5, but I decided to shave it before it just started falling out in clumps. My husband and my two sons took turns shaving my head and we made it a family thing. Right now I can't stand to look in the mirror, but I've decided against a wig. I am just wearing scarves and hats. I am using shampoo and conditioner but I think I will try the lotion and a sleeping cap. Can I just say that I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. |

Surgery Day Dec. 5thHello everyone. I had my first chemo on 12/5 and it kicked my butt. I did get a neulasta shot the day after it it put me down for a couple of days. I guess the fatigue, the mouth sores and nothing taste right are my biggest complaints. I had my second chemo on 12/26 and it kicked my butt again. I go again on 1/9 to get the taxotere only. What are the side effects of this. The first two chemos I had was cytoxan. |

Scared.....I had a double mastectomy on 9/18/07. I haven't started chemo yet because my right side hasn't healed completely. My oncologist has scheduled a whole body pet scan for 11/20 (Tuesday before Thanksgiving). I am going through some different moods. I started out scared, then I thought, well if it's somewhere else then there's nothing I can do but fight. Has anyone gone through these feelings. I am so worried they will find something... but then I have to put my faith in God and go on with my life. I can't be miserable around my family for two weeks until the scan. Diane |

Tests, Treatments & Side Effects + Hormonal Therapy - Before, During and After, Created: Nov 4, 2007 08:52 am
side effectskel12, I'm here talk to me. I had a double mastectomy on September 18th and started Femara on September 20th. My feelings have been like a rollercoaster. I have a pet scan scheduled for 11/20 and I cried several times when that was scheduled because I'm scared. Then I thought, if it's there, it's there... the fight is on. Have you talked to your doctor about how this medicine is affecting you? Everything is going to be fine.... call dr. immediately. You should not have to suffer through this. That is what they are there for. Diane |

HelpHi Jodi, I had my mastectomy September 18th. Went to the oncologist 10/31 and my right side isn't quite healed enough. She said chemo stops the healing process and I must be healed before she can start. I have a pet scan scheduled 11/20. Hard to remember when I was feeling normal. I told my husband "I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired". But you know what... I'm in for the fight if that's what it takes. I'm 53 years old and I have a wonderful life. Diane |

Femara Panic. Please help!Hey Asia, They started me on Femara before I left the hospital after my mastectomy. The only side affect I'm having is terrible hot flashes. I've been on it since September 20th. Also, I would like to ask a question... how long after the mastectomy did chemotherapy start? Diane |

Just diagnosed facing double mastectomy next weekI too am having a double mastectomy Tuesday. It has all hit me within a week and having trouble taking it all in. I had a mammogram in January and was told it was ok. My left nipple started inverting around that time also. I went to the doctor last Wednesday simply because it was time to renew my high blood pressure prescription. I casually asked her about the left nipple. She scheduled another mammogram for 8 am Friday and an appointment with a surgeon at 3 pm Friday. They did a double biopsy Monday at 8 am. Found out Wednesday that I have cancer in both breasts and have a double mastectomy scheduled for Tuesday. |
