Connecting With Others Who Have a Similar Diagnosis + Recurrence and Metastatic Disease, Created: Feb 5, 2008 11:08 pm
Recurrence in Chest WallThank you all for listening. Yes, they did scans and it was not anywhere else, just the chest wall......I will look deeper into this website for someone else who has gone through this. Fortunately, it was caught early, not on a mamogram but on an MRI and with a very wonderful breast cancer surgeon who just happened to be doing an exam. Hugs, Carol Carol A. Sullivan |

Recurrence in Chest WallHello from San Francisco. I was diagnosed with a recurrence in my chest wall. Had lumpectomy four years ago followed by radiation. Now they found a lump near my chest wall. They started chem on Friday, February 1, 2008 and will have 4 AC and 4 Tax and then operation. Has anyone been diagnosed with this??? I cannot find anyone who had a recurrence in the chest wall without having a masectomy. Also, just found out that I may be HER2- which means that the Arimidex I took for 4 years did nothing for me except give me pain in the joints. Help. Thank you all....Carol Carol A. Sullivan |

Jan 2008--Ain't it Great?Hello all from San Francisco. I just came over from the February 08 thread and had some questions. I just started my first chemo on Friday, February 1 and today is Monday, Februray 4. I did OK with the chemo, I did take my meds. Just some stomach aches and tired. I go back to work tomorrow. This is a recurrence for me and it is on the chest wall, so I get to go through 8 chemo visits and then an operation. First time around it was lumpectomy and then radiation (four years ago). They need to shrink this one first before operating. My question regarding chem is how is the second time around? I go every two weeks so need to take shots to build up my white blood cells. Husband has started giving me the shots last night. Is the chemo about the same each time. I take AC 4 times and then Taxol. And when does my hair go (since I am going every two weeks). Thanks for advice. Hugs....carol |

Chemo starting Feb 2008?Good Evening all. I just had my first round of chemo on Friday, Februray 1 I did not got to work today (February 4) but will return tomorrow. My symptons were O.K. on Friday and on Saturday but I did feel nauseated and a bit tired. I did take my meds and stayed with the routine of eating a lighter diet due to getting sick. (as if you had the flu). Also Sunday and Monday (today) I did feel tired but not bad. I did manage to go shopping and get some exercise today! I am getting chemo every two weeks due to the fact they are trying to shrink this since it is in my chest wall. Also this is a recurrence. I did not have chemo the first time around four years ago but did have radiation and a lumpectomy. Has anyone has the second round of chemo and does it have the same affect as the first. Just curious to see what I will be going through at the end of next week. It if was a simple as the first round, I can take this.....Also have to give myself a shot to build up my white blood cells every day for 7 days. I gave that job to my husband....Hope everyone is hanging in there and just think after all my chemo, I then get to have my surgery. Lovely. When does my hair leave me? Thanks...Carol from S.F. |

Chemo starting Feb 2008?Greetings from San Francisco: I just posted here last evening but wanted to say that I am glad I did. Bridget, I was laughing about the "haircut". I start chemo next Friday, February 1 so will keep on posting. Going to get my wig tomorrow since I do work in the hospitality business and need to try and look normal with a wig. I don't know how long I will continue to work but hopefully I can push through this. I admire all of the mothers out there with little children who have to go through this. We will get through this together...Hugs....Carol |

Chemo starting Feb 2008?Hello All. I am starting chemo next Friday, February 1, 2008. I was diagnosed with a recurrence in December and it was found on my chest wall. I had bc in 2004 with a lumpectomy and radiation and then Arimidex. They are doing chemo for 4 months and then surgery. The chemo is to shrink and then the surgery. I am HER2- which explains why the Arimidex did not work for the past 4 years. I send everyone hugs from San Francisco and will be posting along the way. Carol |

Anyone starting Chemo in Feb?I will be starting chemo on February 1. I have had a recurrence after 4 years (lumpectomy and radiation at that time) and now will have chemo for 4 months and then surgery. They found it on my chest wall or on my muscle. The chemo is being used to shrink this before the surgery. Has anyone else been on this road? Thank you!! Carol |
