depression after oophHi all, I am sorry you are feeling depressed about this. I know that I am in the same boat even though I have just scheduled my Oph rather than have it. It is like feeling a piece of your womanhood is gone. It's bad enough we have BC, and everyhthing that goes with thsat. My onc surg is still planning my Mast after the bone bets get under control but the Ooph comes first. Call your doc and have him prescribe something for you. There is no need with the meds they hae available that you should have to feel this way. I think the not being able to plan anything is also a symptom of BC. I have to force myself to do anything that I don't absolutely have to do. Let us know what your doc says. Terri Dx 8/1/2007, ILC, Stage IV, Grade 3, 24/28 nodes, mets, ER+/PR+, HER2- |

Questions about tumor markersI was dx in Sept 07 with Mets to the bones. At that time was told my markers were 294. When the onc re-did this in January 08 after being on Tamoxifin they went up to over 600. He is having them redone - said that it may be because he changed labs. He doesn't seem worried so long as I feel ok. Quality of life is better than numbers. Terri Dx 8/1/2007, ILC, Stage IV, Grade 3, 24/28 nodes, mets, ER+/PR+, HER2- |

How many of you actually had a palpable lump?I was putting cream on one afternoon and there it was. It took 27 pictures with the Mamo before they found it because it was on the chest wall. I had a mamo very year so why they never found it is beyond me. I have since switched where I get my Mamo's etc done - New place has no wait and is considerant to the patients and is VERY accurate. OOPHORECTOMY or not?Has anyone had an OOPHORECTOMY as a result of their dx? My onc is suggesting one if the GYN can do it lapiscopiccally but not if it is the "old fashioned" way. I have Stage IV with mets to the bones and am Estrogen + but have not hit menopause yet (we think) at 51. I think if my cancer is growing because of my estrogen then get it out so there is less estrogen. I had a hist about 11 years ago and have no symptoms of menopause but cannot tellyou if I am pre - or post because I have no symptoms. I was wondering what others have done and what side effects there were if any? Thanks for the help Terri Dx 8/1/2007, ILC, Stage IV, 24/28 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2- |

Pot-throwing angry...I wish my husband were like yours. I could deal with the anger better than I am with his quiet acceptance. I had a Lumpectomy 2 weeks after dx and at that point they also did the lymph nodes. I had told the dc to put a Mediport in if the nodes were + so I would have one less surgery since I have lousy veins for chemo. After the lumpectomy the BS said that it was stage 3C and I should plan on Chemo, Mastectomy & then radiation. Well tests showed it was worse (bone mets) so the treatment is less. Only Tamoxifin & Zometa for the bones as of now. I was told to plan on a mastectomy after the bone mets were under control. My onc said since I had not hit menopause yet (at 51) to see my GYN regarding having my ovaries out. if it can be done laproscopically then do it. My husband just takes all of this in stride while I am a complete mess. I cry alot - but have found that meditation and medication both help. Writing down what I am feeling also helps. Also I am working full time so I don't have enough time in the day to have too much of a pity party. My husband feels like he cannot do anything for me except to be quiet support and let me make decisions. He gives me his opinion - take it all off - because he is not interested in the body just having me around longer. He is firm with his decisions but does say it is my choice. I hope your DH can settle in his own mind what he wants - the body or the person. That might help him calm down. Terri Dx 8/1/2007, ILC, Stage IV, 24/28 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2- |
