Ive been on zoladex on and off for a few years now, when I have stopped periods where back to normal within 2/3 months - no pregnancy plans for me though, I asked to go back on it!

Try not to worry about "lingering" side effects you wont know that there will be any, and worrying wont stop them if theyre going to happen.

 I was dx in 2002 (aged 30) and have had 5 lots of  chemo, countless hormonals, and the only side effects I suffer are the short term chemo related ones, your energies will return and you will feel better.

I had an appointment with a liver consultant, who told me there was nothing he could do for my liver mets due to their placement, he shook my hand and told me "gosh you are unlucky arent you, dont get run over by a bus on the way out" Unbelievable, I was dazed for about and hour before I got mad!

Another one was the plastic surgeon who was going to do my recon who flopped my only boob around telling me it "should be sitting here, not all the way down there" then patted my stomach and told me "your carrying a bit of extra weight you'll have to lose at least 60lb before I'll consider doing it" this was 3 weeks after mastectomy!

Needless to say I never went back to the plastic surgeon a total asshole.

I also have a "friend" who keeps saying Im like you Ive got spots on my liver from all the medication I take...........No she hasnt got cancer shes got thyroid problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  And obviously doesnt listen when she asks how I am!

Am sure if I sat and thought Id have loads more!

My liver mets were dx when a routine blood test showed liver function wasnt what it should be.

 Im in the UK and yes we do have scalp cooling in our clinic,  Ive used it with 5 different lots of chemo now and never needed a wig!  It takes around 17 days for your hair to start to fall out, you'll notice your body hair will start to thin (saves a packet on waxing!!)

I was dx at 30 and am 37 now and keeping my hairs helped me stay positive, but I know im one of the lucky ones infact Im the only person who the scalp cooling has worked well for in our hospital, Im the only person who uses the cooling machines. 

Michelle its worth a try, got my fingers, toes and eyes crossed that it works as well for you.

Dont wash your hair unless you've got to, use lots of conditioner and try not to use a hot hairdryer and get a soft hairbrush, remember your hairs been frozen to around -5 so look after it!!!   Dry shampoo between washes is great.  And lots of spray leave in conditioner just before you put to cap on and if you can stand it wet your hair at the roots especially on the top just before you strap yourself in!!

Just wondering if anyone out there had Epi twice? My first lot was 4 years ago, Ive had lots of different ones since then and my liver mets are at their worst, after a 10 week break after 12 weekly taxols onc seemed to struggle to come up with a treatment for me, so decided on lower dose epi, due to the affect it can have on your heart apparently.

 Feeling pretty low about it all at the moment, but I suppost things can only get better!

Hi ladies, great idea so heres my story as far as I can remember it!!

2002 just before 31st birthday found a lump in breast (no family history)

dx stage 1 breast cancer, lymph nodes sampled and they were clear had left mastectomy, given TAMOXIFEN told this was only treatment needed

2003/4 check up appointment dr felt lump in left armpit, total node clearence 17/20 nodes affected no mets at this stage, had EPIRUBICIN (the good old red devil!) CMF and 20 rad sessions to armpit and chest, stopped tamoxifen and started ZOLADEX and FEMARA (think thats what it was)

2005/6 after fab wedding in vegas blood tests showed liver not quite right, lots of scans and one lesion found in liver no other lesions anywhere else, so had TAXOTERE which shrank lesion, because of the area the tumor is in (next to main arteries in liver) no rads  or operation to remove is possible.

2007 Routine MRI showed growth, had VENORALBINE this time which also shrank lesion

2007/8 same again this time had FASLODEX and I had a slight progression

2008 XELODA after 3 cycles scans showed progression into 2 other sectors in my liver as well as my existing lesion, put back on ZOLADEX

TODAY Im on my 6th cycle of weekly TAXOL which after 4 cycles scans showed lesion is shrinking, so continuing on with remaining 6 cycles living in hope of the words NED!

Sadly Avastin still not available here in the UK yet, although the whisper is that it might be by july, we'll just have to wait and see!

things get a bit hazy with dates so this is correct as far as my chemo brain remembers! Ill probably be back to edit when I remember other things!!

QOL would be great if it wasnt for my recent back problem which thankfully isnt cancer related!
