Illinois ladies facing bc

Hi girls,

I am trying to load a new avatar and I cannot.  Has anyone else ever had a problem?  I think it says something about wrong image type.  I am doing the same thing I have always done in the past.

Thanks.

Lisa

Unusual bone mets

Annie,

Now you are freaking me out!  I called my oc's office about four weeks ago complaining of pain on my ring finger.  It hurt bad, especially when pressed, and here was a little bump.  The oc's office told me they never heard of anyone having mets in the finger.  I am happy to tell you that the pain has completely disappeared.  It did take about 8 weeks.

I have been getting back into my pre-bc workout routine and yoga once a week, and do have some ankle pain and hip pain.  Not even bad eough for pain reliever and if I did not have bc, I may not even give them a second thought.  I did mention it last week at the oc's and they did not seem alarmed, especially since I am working out more.  If these areas are still bothering me after the new year, I may ask for scans.

Annie, I cannot tell you how often you are in my thoughts.  Please take care.

Lisa

Positive reading material

Hi Annie,

I have Anti-Cancer also.  I am also reading Love, Medicine and Miracles by Dr. Bernie Siegel.  He has some other books, which I have not read yet, including:  Peace, Love & Healing; and, How to Live Between Office Visits.  He found a group called ECaP (Exceptional Cancer Patients).  Also I have to read something light and fun in between these books.

Illinois ladies facing bc

Hi all,

Wendy, I am thinking of taking off to join the lunch, or maybe drive in early and take a 1/2 day.  I am kind of waiting to see what day they are doing a gingerbread house project at my little guy's school, because I need to take that day off also.

What time is the lunch?

I have been reading the posts.  I am anxious to see how JanClare's scans come out.  I am super busy.  I am off tomorrow and getting a massage at 9:00.  I have had a gift certificate for 3 years and figure now is a perfect time to go.

Essiac Tea

I brought the literature I received from my health food store re:  the tea to my oncs. office.  The oncs office gave me material with studies, etc. on why not to use the tea.  I do take it with a grain of salt since md's are sooo reluctant to even discuss alternative treatments, but I am not willing to take the chance and try it.

Funny Movies

Watson,

I was going to say Ruthless People also.  I can remember the first time I saw it at the show and you just never stop laughing.  I have Love Actually on DVD, I have stayed away because someone dies young with a young child and that was a little scary for me to watch.  Maybe I will try it soon.  I will say, I have not had a really good cry in months and would probably feel real good afterwards.  You are correct that the music is great from that movie.  I bought that Joni Mitchell CD last year!

Another favorite is the first Bridget Jones movie.  Also, was never a big Hugh Grant fan until Notting Hill, another good movie.  The one with he and Drew Barrymore is also very funny.

I think I have a problem

Annie,

I have been following your posts, just not posting myself.

As I have said before, our timing is very similar and I frequently think about your and your current situation.  I am so sorry you have to go thru all of this.

Starting chemo in April

Hi girls,

Well, I had the long blond facial hair waxed off on Thursday night.  It hurt like a bitch, I hope it does not come back--I will keep you posted.

I am seeing the onc on Wednesday, the first time since chemo ended.  I am having some hip pain and am going to mention it.  It is not constant and I do notice it to be considerably worse the couple days after I do yoga.  It is not even painful enough for a pain reliever, and if it were not for bc, I probably would not even notice it.  Has anyone had any scans since chemo?

Hope everyone is fully recovered from rads and all their hair is coming in thick!  My hair is super thick with a lot more body than before.  It seems to have a mind of its own as to which direction it wants to go.

Take care everyone and have a good week.

facial hair after chemo

HI bcs75,

I was just going to post on the April thread (I still will) about the fact that I did my excessive facial hair waxed off last Thursday night.  It hurt like a bitch.  I almost did not do the second side, but I would have felt ridiculous.  My waxer gave me some gel to take home for the swelling!  I did take three Advil about an hour before.  I had just gone for eyebrows and upper lip, but she noticed the hair and so we did it.  I will keep you posted if there is any re-growth.  I could use it on the back and side of my neck also, but I am not that brave!

Bone scan moved up

Hi ladies,

I was just reading your posts.  I finished chemo July 17.  I have been having some hip pain and it is freaking me out.  It is not constant and is definitely worse for a couple days after I do my yoga class.  My onc does not do regular scans and I have appointment for Wednesday.  This is my first appointment since ending chemo.  I guess my question is when you have mets pain, is it constant, or does it come and go.  Also, does Advil relieve the pain of mets?

Thanks.

Lisa

Triple Negs - Fall 2008 Update

Hi all,

Diagnosed mid-January--gyno told me DCIS and was very casual.

Went to surgeon at Northwestern, told it was invasive.

Bi-lateral mastectomy March 5.  Two tumors, triple negative, both under 2cm. and 10 positive nodes.

4AC 4 Taxol, ending July 17.

33 rads ending October 2.

Will be having exchange surgery probably in April.

Now, just freaking out with every ache and pain and lightheaded and dizziness.

Triple Negative Poll on Breast Feeding

Hi all,

I breast fed my little guy for 14 months.  Finished September of 2003.  I find the whole thing to be very frustrating.

Thanks,

Illinois ladies facing bc

Hi Girls,

Just checking in.  I have been reading, not posting.  I have been soo busy lately.  I did start a yoga class this past Tuesday and have been making a real effort to go and work out.  I usually like to go a little later in the evening and it really takes a lot of effot to leave the house, but I do feel so much better afterward.  I have about 8 - 10 lbs of leftover chemo weight I would like to get rid of before the holidays.  I am going to see Wicked this afternoon, taking the train so I really hope we get no precipitation today.

A quick welcome to the new girls.

I wish I could come on the 8th, but that is just such a hideously busy time of year for me both at work and at home.

I did see the plastic surgeon last week and it sounds like I will be getting my implants in April, six months after rads ended.

Gotta get moving a get some stuff done before I leave for the show, we are going early and lunching downtown.

Having a gathering....

Hi all,

I live in the southwest suburbs of Chicago and work downtown Chicago.  I would love to help you girls with the organization and/or recommendation.  Even the suburbs are now getting some nice convention type places that are not as expensive as downtown or near the airport.  There is a lot bus services to bring people from the two airports to various places in the burbs.  Just let me know.

Eyebrows

Once the brows start coming in, they come back super fast.  I used a product from Benefit cosmetics call Brow Zings.  They have a web site or they sell at higher end department stores and Sephora.  You can try Amazon.  I went from nothing to getting them waxed all within about 2 weeks.  It was amazing.
