SO, HOW DO YOU COPE???!!!Thanks for your info Binney. Wow, there are no concrete answers to this LE are there? I was considering the surgery, perhaps sometime in the New Year. A lot depends on how the arm acts when I'm in Africa. At my age (64) it wouldn't be for cosmetic reasons and my Physio said that so far the arm doesn't look too bad.(thats her opinion) I'm grateful that I live in Canada and our Insurance covers this surgery...so when in doubt I'll pray. Thanks again for being there for us Survivors. |

SO, HOW DO YOU COPE???!!!Welcome Munchy A year and a half ago I was in the same mind set as you.It sure is a bummer to have this life long challenge.I was so grateful to find this blog and know I wasn't alone. No one in my tiny village who has had breast cancer had this "side effect", except one woman who really didn't want to talk about it.When I read that some Survivors have LE in their leg I was sortof grateful it was only in my arm. I want to tell you it hasn't slowed me down..I'm off to Africa next month sleeve and all. Each day is a challenge but you know we're alive to tell our story and perhaps to be able to help someone else.I have a "cheat night "once a week when I don't wear my sleeve..its my treat to myself! Hang tough girl. We're here for you. |

SO, HOW DO YOU COPE???!!!Welcome Barbara Isn't this a grand site? I am still adjusting to the Reid sleeve. I find it so cumbersome at night..I end up taking it off half way through the night...perhaps I'm tightening the straps too much. I really misbehaved this weekend and didn't wear my sleeve during the day...today my hand is really swollen and even my glove is too tight...guess I've learned my lesson. Shall try to be a better girl.... Have a grand day. Mary Mac |

SO, HOW DO YOU COPE???!!!Hi Binney Still haven't decided on the Reid sleeve. It certainly leaves circular indentations.I can't believe how transient this edema is..somedays my hand is swollen, the next day it isn't, somedays my arm is harder even though I follow through on exercise, sleeve wearing etc.It does boggle my tiny mind. Oh, well somedays are diamonds and some days are stone..its all in the attitude. |

SO, HOW DO YOU COPE???!!!Hi Binney MaryMac here. Love the idea of a Vet.glove.Shall call my Vet tomorrow..woops ..shall call my Golden Retreiver "Tah Dah" s Vet tomorrow.... I have to tell you I have a new body in my bed..aside from the Golden Retreiver..haven't named him yet..don't know whether to name him after an old boyfriend or a fantasy one!! He is not a welcome partner I must admit..takes up too much room and is cumbersome to be with...yup got a new night time sleeve.!!!!.Its a Reed or Reid sleeve.I feel like the bionic woman..This morn. after my first night with "it", my arm was coverered with indented circles...that was a first...I have "it' on trial until Monday..hmm maybe "its' better than aa man.. if you don't don't like it..send it back!! I have to say that the healing grace is a sense of humor. in this life with Lymphadema . Thank God for women like you who are powers of example. Forward Ho! Mary |

SO, HOW DO YOU COPE???!!!Hi Binny Has been awhile since I peeked at your comments. You are a great source of information. Just to tell you my LE and I are getting along much better...not to say the managment isn't a pain but hey girl I'm alive to tell the tale and I have to remember that when I'm feeling too tired to exercise etc. Have been wearing my sleeve consistently throughout the day and waiting for a sleeve and using a sleeve at night lent to me by a Physiotherapist.. I see where you're usuing Solaris product at night? Can you tell me more about it? I have bought kids tights (multicoloured with flowers etc.) to cover my sleeve during the day..I cut off the legs and there's your covering! certainly cost effective. I purchased a g-sleeve cover and wore it yesterday when I had some day surgery treaments done. The Nurses had never seen one before and were most impressed.I have heard that many Dr's ignore the pink 'Lyymh alert" bands but God bless the Nurses they pay attention to it. Have a grand day Mary from Canada |

#@%&*ing Sleeve!am so grateful to be able to read your comments. Have had lymph.of the whole right arm.Popped up after 1 1/2 years after bilateral mastectomy. Am in Denial for sure and have purposely not done anything consistant about my arm.Occasionally I wrap it and wear my sleeve ..however I am now being more consistant as summer is coming and I don't relish the thought of wearing this *_(*^^ sleeve.I need some coping skills to deal with this thing.Help. |
