Hi,
I am just wondering how long you can safely wait to get excised after stereotactic biopsy? I have a clip in to make the spot. I have some other more pressing health issues that I feel I need to take care of first. I have also been given the choice of excision versus close monitoring. Both the surgeon and radiologist told me it is not something I need to do right away, but I unfortunately did not ask them if there was a time limit on if/when it can still be done.
Thanks

Hi Shabby,
Yes, I did have a good time on vacation. Everything was in the back of my mind but I was somewhat able to relax, thankfully.
Microfocus of ALH sounds pretty tinytiny , that's great!
Keep us posted on your recovery.
I came back and finally got my second opinion and he is saying rather than excisional I should have an MRI. Rather than being calming, now I am totally confused as to what to do. I haven't slept well for a couple of days so hopefully if I can do that I can think straight.
Keep us posted on your recovery.

Hi Shabby,
How are you recovering? I am back from my vacation and am happy to see you back on the board. Was the ALH in your final path report? That is what I have too.
Hope you are doing well.

Hi Otter,
Thanks for posting this. One thing I am wondering though...what about calcifications? Non-palpable? I wonder if this would be classified as other or if the graphs don't apply.
Thanks

Hi Shabby,
I had that after my stereotactic. It was the size of a small bean, but went away after a few days. The bronze bruise lasted about three weeks though. Sounds like you are still feeling pretty good. Still no significant pain?
Well I am off for a week of vacation I hope I can just let everything go and relax a bit. Probably not so much but I will try as I know things will start up fast and furious when I get back. Hope you continue to do well and I hear from you when I get back.
Hugs,
Sashie :)

Hi Shabby,
Thanks for sending more details about your excisional and wire placement, etc. It is comforting to know that you did so well. How are you feeling today? Pain level, emotionally, etc.?
Keep me posted.

Hi Shabby,
Thanks for all the info. I like the fact that you aren't squished like a normal mammo. I know not many worry about the radiation but for some reason I am kinda fixated on that part. When you say quite a few mammos do you mean like do you mean like, 5 or 10 or 20. I know you probably weren't counting but i would love to know approx. I am not too afraid of the pain as I have a pretty high threshold, more just the fight or flight response and having lots of mammos and being trapped. Weird I know.
Both my siblings came down with cancer (not breast) in the past 2 years and I think this has really heightened my anxiety level.
Thanks

Hi Shabby,
How are you feeling today? I imagine you must be so relieved...I am so happy for you.
As you know I have ALH too and will be going for my excisional in May. I am very nervous about
the procedure itself. How was your needle placement? Was your calcification deep? How many mammos did you have for the needle placement?
Thanks for the info.

Hi Shabby,
Sorry to hear that you are having a tough day today. It is not surprising though being that you just had the surgery. Try to just take it easy on yourself, I know its hard. I know you said you feel nauseous but I bet you are dehydrated from yesterday too. Ginger ale always settles my tummy. Be good to Shabby...she deserves it!

Hi Shabby,
Glad to hear you are doing better, like you say getting it over with is half the battle.
Just try to remember one step at a time. The stats are really in our favor.
I am doing well only because I have put off the surgery for a couple of weeks until after our vacation.
They didn't schedule it soon enough and I didn't want to be sore. I am the one getting the second opinion just because I have the time. I am sure they will say excise.
Are you west coast or east coast, so I can send good B9 vibes>
Hugs,

I am not Leaf...but I really feel for you. I have ALH too. Can you take something to help you calm down. I am not a pill person but I have not been able to handle this at all and have restorted to xanax when I just can't stand it. I am probably not the one to give advice though ...just wanted to let you know I am out here if you want to talk.

Hi Shabby,
This is what I have too. Mine was originally found as calcifications too....I didn't feel anything. I am probably going to have an excisional biopsy, but I am getting a second opinion just because I am so freaked out! It will probably be the second week in May. My surgeon said a 5% to 10% that it could be malignant and the radiologist said a 4% chance. It seems everyone is pretty confused. From all the articles I have read they are retrospective studies, pulling records of patients and taking statistics from there.
Dr. Susan Love has a very good explanation of it on her website in laymans terms. Let us know how it goes okay?
Best wishes for B9!

Hi Julieann,
I have spikey blood pressure when I get nervous so my doc gave me a script for Inderal and Xanax. Worked like a charm for the stereotactic. Very much who cares kinda feeling. This is from somebody who could barely eat or sleep for weeks before.
Good luck

Hi Carina,
Oh Carina that is a lot to hold into yourself. I think I know how you feel, though. I did tell my husband but nobody else. Both my siblings came down with cancer in the last few years and I just don't want everybody to be worried or constantly ask me about it. So far what I have is benign but I am waiting to do an excisional biopsy to make sure. It is a very lonely feeling to not share, but I know it is the best decision for me at this time. The people on this board are incredible and there always seems to be someone around to talk to.
Good luck and keep posting when you want to talk.

Hi mtbmom,
I had he microcalsifications and then the did the stereotactic. I noticed that you were upgraded to LCIS and that is why I was wondering. I have been debating whether to have the excisional done too. My radiaologis recommended it but the surgeon said it was a good idea but also said I could just have a mammo in six months to check it out.
Thanks
