Tests, Treatments & Side Effects + Just Diagnosed, Created: Mar 28, 2008 01:44 am
Don't know what treatment to takeI was recently diagnosed with DCI stage 2 cancer my and had my operation, my lymph nodes were clear, as were my margins. I was told a treatment of chemo, followed by radiation, and then hormonal therapy is what they recommened due to the size of the tumor being 3cm. Todays visit has changed my diagnosis results from my bone scan and blood work show that I am clear . He now feels hormonal therapy should work as I am estrogen positive and chemo is not as a recommendation. The survival rate between the two is one out of 12 with chemo in ten years opposed to 1 out of 10 without it. I am terrified to take chemo but now the choice is mine. Please help? I need advice |

Starting chemo in AprilI have been told if I decide to have chemo it will be April 1, don't know what to do, all my tests came back clear, nothing in the lymph nodes margins clear, bone scan clear, blood clear. The choice for chemo is mine, onocaologist feels homonal therapy will work only suggested it because I am a stage 11 cancer and because it was 3cm so it is a standard recommendation. I am terrified to have chemo. I need advice what do I do? |

If you have just been diagnosed....I was diagnosed about a 6 weeks with breast cancer, had the operation lymph nodes were clear margins were clear. Seen onocologist last week told me because of the size which was 3cm. he recommended chemo, radiation and hormonal therapy. I had a very hard time deciding to have the chemo as it would better my chances of reacurrance by l in 16 in ten years to 1 in 12. I went today and after my blood work results and my bone scan results had come back and are clear he has changed his opinion on my treatment he's saying if I go with the chemo my changes are 1 in 12 without are 1 in 10. I really don't know what to do he feels the homonial therapy will work and is not recommending chemo now, it is my choice. What do I do please I need some advice. |
