Poll regarding how us Triple Negs found our tumor

I was breastfeeding my 9 month old and thought I had a blocked milk duct. The lump seemed to appear overnight and was quite painful. I had an ultrasound and the report said that it was 2.5cm milk cyst. My surgeon tried to drain it with a syringe and of course nothing came out. After a fine needle biopsy and core biopsy I was diagnosed with a grade 3, triple negative tumour. During my lumpectomy my surgeon removed a 5.3cm tumour, much larger than the 2.5cm I thought it was originally. It turns out that I also had DCIS. Then decided to have mastectomy due to possible genetic link (lost mum to ovarian cancer in 1994).

Newly diagnosed Triple neg

Hi Victoria

I found that AC made me feel very, very tired and a bit nauseous with a horrible taste in my mouth for a week. My skin also got very sensitive and sore to touch about 4 days after treatment.

I have decided to have radiation, even though I have had a mastectomy. I figure it is best to do all the treatments available. That will be daily for 5 weeks after taxol. Have booked a holiday for October to celebrate the end of treatment. Really looking forward to that!!

Newly diagnosed Triple neg

Hi again Vickan,

I had AC every fortnight which I finished last week. Next week I am going to start taxol and I chose to have it weekly for 12 weeks as it is given at a lower dose and I am hoping it will minimise side effects. The other option was every 3 weeks for 4 cycles. I am a bit nervous about how I will react to taxol. Are you also having AC and taxol? How are you going with your treatment and side effects?

Newly diagnosed Triple neg

Hi all. I am 31 and I was diagnosed in January also with triple negative breast cancer. Thought my lump was due to an infected milk duct as was breastfeeding my 9 month old son. It had seemed to appear overnight. How wrong I was!! Had a mastectomy and just finished 4 DD AC treatments. VERY glad to have finished AC. About to start weekly taxol treatments next week and hoping it is more managable. Also isvery difficult to have energy to look after my boy. Have been reading all of your posts for the last 2 months but now want to join in as I am feeling the same as many of you. Just want my life back and very scared about recurrence.

Take care everyone
