Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?Sandra, I just wanted to let you know my 4th and final tx is on 9-2. Thanks again for keeping track. We are almost there!!! Good luck to all those just starting. As everyone else pointed out everyone is different. Don't be afraid of things you've read because chances are it won't happen. And if it does, you are well informed because you are on here and you will know what to do or not be so surprised. Have a good day and feel well. Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?Hi all, my mouth was probably one of the worst se's I had. No taste, hurting, etc. But I never had sores so didn't call my onc after last tx. When I told her before this one she prescribed two mouthwashes which I alternated and it seemed to help a lot. One was mix of Benadryl, malox and lidocain. The other is called nystatin, which is for infection. The nystatin seemed to help more than the other even though I didn't think I had an infection. It was definitely worth it and would recommend asking for it. My taste came back way faster than last time and my teeth and tongue didn't hurt as much.. Hope it helps for anyone else. Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?BonnieLee - I too have had considerable pain at mastectomy and reconstruction (expander) site after tx. I even had to go back to pain pills which I had long stopped after the surgery after the first tx. I've been told it is not uncommon but never got a good explanation as to why. I'm assuming the chemo affects vulnerable areas of the body and I'm sure there is still a lot of healing going on. I would however keep an eye on the redness and burning as that could mean infection and take your temp. Good luck and hope se's are minimal. Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?Hi all - Hope everyone is feeling good today. Moving my son into college yesterday went ok except I decided to wear my wig for a change ( usually wear hats for comfort) and it was so hot in his dorm room I had sweat running down the back of my head and I found it looks like hell when it is wet!!! Luckily I had my hat in the car and put it on half way through, which turned out to be a great idea because people started holding the door for me and letting me pass them!! One of the few benefits of this mess! My daughter and I too joked about a temporary tatoo on the back of my head. My favorite she came up with was "Got Chemo?" Except for around the house though I don't dare go bald now, the little hairs that have begun to grow back are pure white and starting to look curly! Ugh!!!! Love the mowhawk TX66!! Have a good day all! Terri Dx 2008, ILC, 1cm, Stage II, 0/1 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2- |

Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?Sandra-- We have had so much in common with our tx's. This is day 4 tx3 and I feel worse than I did the other two times. No energy at all, my legs feel like complete rubber and hips and thighs are hurting. I kinda feel out of body as a whole and very irrititable. I think it's finally getting to me and dreading the last one already. People keep saying, well you only have one more, but I'm not through this one yet!!!!! I have a son to move into college next Tuesday and I have so much to do for that and I'm freaking myself out about not getting everything done. Hopefully this will end by tomorrow or Saturday at least. That's about how long this punky feeling lasted before, but just never this bad. Alright enough of my complaining. On a happier note, I wanted to let you all know that the Rod Stewart concert was awesome last weekend. I'm so glad I changed my tx to Monday so I felt the best I could for it. I couldn't believe the range of ages there and he put on such a great show. He looks great for 63 and sang all the songs I wanted to hear. Sherri - I know what you mean about feeling like a cancer patient, but this shall pass. Hang in there everybody. Terri Dx 2008, ILC, 1cm, Stage II, 0/1 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2- |

Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?Ms. Karin - How awesome to see Rod in such a small venue and to be backstage with him. Sorry about the beer bottle! I was thinking about getting a "rod" wig to wear tonight and one for my dh (bald too!!). Then maybe he'd have us come up on stage. Maria - A walk on the beach sounds great. Not easy to do living in Ohio. (Lake Erie beaches leave something to be desired). Terri - That's bulls**t about your insurance co. Hope that doesn't happen to me. This has already taken a toll on us financially. (Had to quit one of my part-time jobs because of this) and sending two of three of my kids to college. I'd fight it and good luck. Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?Sandra - Thanks for keeping up with the schedule. I was actually scheduled today but will not be having my tx#3 until Monday the 11th. This was my choice. My dh bought Rod Stewart tickets right after I was diagnosed figuring I'd be all done with all this mess by now and it would be a good way to celebrate. I decided I wanted to feel my best and be able to taste my dinner and a beer at the concert. My onc had no problem with waiting 3 days which also puts my 4th and last the day after Labor Day, so this worked out good. Now I have to remember how to act at a concert, I'm 48 and haven't been to a concert since ..................? Susan - Sorry to hear about the shingles. My dh had them a few years ago, they can be quite painful. Talk about adding insult to injury. Hope you have a mild case. Good Luck. All - the trots suck!!!! and have a great weekend!! Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?RNKaren - so sorry to hear about the situation with the blood clot. How scary that must have been. I too was tested for the gene that could cause blood clots and was positive. (mom and a sister had blood clots). Because of this tamoxafin (sp?) is out for me as blood clots are a possible side effect. My onc put me on folic acid because of having the gene. My sister was on coumadin too after the blood clot and eventually her doc changed her to daily folic acid also. Most doctors don't like coumadin if it isn't necessary and it is a pain to be on because of constant blood tests. Do they relate the blood clot to the chemo or is it just a horrible, bad timing coincidence? Sorry that you have to deal with this on top of everything else. Good luck. Karin- Love the pics, thanks for making me smile this a.m. Feel well all and have a good day!!! Terri Dx 2008, DCIS, 1cm, Stage I, 0/1 nodes, ER+ |

Fever on Taxotere and CytoxanHi Stickerlady, I too ran a fever after my first tx. The highest it got was 100.1. I was told to call if it was 100.4 or higher. But I felt so crummy I called and onc had me come in for a blood test. My wbc was pretty low and I too was put on a 10 day dose of Levaquin. They told me if I hadn't called then I probably would have ended up in for IV antibiotics. It took quite a few days even after the antibiotic for the fever to go down and stay down. Fortunately for me the cancer center is only 15 minutes away, but if you are not feeling well, I suggest you call. Maybe they can call you in a script for antibiotics. Good luck and feel better soon!! Terri Dx 2008, DCIS, 1cm, Stage I, 0/1 nodes, ER+ |

Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?OMG Valerie, that is awful and scary. Good luck with that. Maria- Best of luck to you on your 1st tx, may your se's be non-existant! Day 7 after 2nd tx and not feeling as well as the first time. My taste is just coming back since last Saturday and my tongue is so sore I want to cut it off!!!! And I have cold sores too! Just feel generally more punky than last time and it is lasting longer. Someone posted about feeling crummy in the morning and then better later, it is the opposite for me. Afternoons are the worst. Sorry about all the complaining, it just goes to show how every person is so different and each tx can be different. Hope everyone has a great weekend, SE FREE!!!! The Road to Hell . . . (or "Laughter is the Best Medicine")The mouse story reminded me of something funny. This is a bit off the subject of bc but had to share. My sister and I were at a stop smoking seminar and the leader of the group mentioned that one of the ingredients of cigarettes were the same as that that is in moth balls. So he asked, "Has anyone smelled moth balls?" I said to the few people around me, "How do you get their little legs apart?" We all lost it, but the stodgy teacher didn't think it was funny. Here I was 45 years old and felt like a kid in school again. I thought he was going to kick us out!! By the way, we didn't quit smoking either. Terri Dx 2008, DCIS, 1cm, Stage I, 0/1 nodes, ER+ |

Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?Sandra, That makes even more sense about the histamine. That explains why the benadryl helped so fast. Maybe they will give us the benadryl beforehand. I'm definitely going to bring it up before they start next time. Again, though, you would think they would have experienced this before and not be so surprised about it. This is the first I'm hearing about serious acid reflux problems, good Lord does it ever end???My Onc nurse warned me about too much internet searches, but I think I'd rather have the heads up about some of this stuff then second guessing myself all the time. Otter, you have been a wealth of info throughout all this. I can see you in medical school soon!!! You'd be great at it. I have absolutley no taste buds this time and it figures my sister invited my dh and I over for a filet mignon dinner yesterday. The only way I knew it was good was that it melted in my mouth. What a friggin waste!! Good Sunday to all and feel good !!!! Terri Dx 2008, DCIS, 1cm, Stage I, 0/1 nodes, ER+ |

Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?Catlover, Both of my tx's were on Friday's and the nurse comes in at 9:00 saturdays to give the Neulasta shot. So it doesn't matter what time you get chemo we all come in at the same time in the a.m. which is less than 24 hours after for some. I started infusion around 9:30 yesterday. Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?Sandra - Sorry you had to experience this too, but glad you did the right thing and buzzed for a nurse right away. That is why I posted about it. You mentioned that you heard this could happen during second tx. That makes sense, but I'm surprised the nurses or doctor didn't tell me that. They actually seemed quite surprised by it. Did your nurses say anthing? I wonder if they are going to do anything for tx 3 to prevent this from happening again. I went in for Neulasta shot today and my temp was 99, which I didn't think was a big deal except that when I get a fever it usually is in the afternoon. This nurse seemed more concerned and told me to watch it all day. Said to take Tylenol and if it doesn't stay below 100 to call. She did say the Neulasta could cause fever. But since I've been getting a low grade fever almost everyday, who's to know. I don't think anyone really knows what's going on. When we're taking so many drugs how do you know what is causing what!!!! Phillydee-I too felt the same way. I felt great before all of this. The hard part now is that if I had just had the mastectomy, I'd be pretty much back to feeling myself again. But the two things I chose, chemo and reconstruction are still looming in my future. But the way I figure it will be worth it in the end for peace of mind and a new boob (and a lift on the other to match!!!!). Good luck to you and all and have a great weekend!!!! Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?Hi All, I'm here at the Ireland cancer center for tx2. Had some kind of reaction to the taxotere. It started like a gas pain in my stomach then started rising into my chest, it was hard to breath and felt like I was going to pass out. Called for the nurse and four of them came right away. My pulse and blood pressure were up there. I felt better as soon as she stopped the taxotere. She game me a steroid and benadryl in the IV and waited till things were normal to start the taxotere again, which she dripped slower at first. I'm fine now and about 1/2 way through the tax. They all seem surprised because I had no reaction last time. They think it might be related to having some kind of virus or something since I was running a fever the last few days. They don't believe it will happen again. I hope not it was pretty scary. Just wanted to share in case anyone else experiences this. It was scary for a sec, but the feellings were quick to go away. Well, I'm going to work now. Brought my laptop here to work during tx. It is making it go faster!! Have a good day everyone!!!! Terri Dx 2008, DCIS, 1cm, Stage I, 0/1 nodes, ER+ |

Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?Sandra and Otter - Thanks for the info about the fever. I guess I freaked because the first time my counts were so low, now I know it's probably something to expect. That sucks Sandra about the screw up. We try so hard to keep on top of things on our end and we expect the same for them. Good luck! Terri Dx 2008, DCIS, 1cm, Stage I, 0/1 nodes, ER+ |

Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?Collector- Sure enough on cue, my headache returned and temp was 99.6 around noon today. I called my onc nurse and she had me come in for blood work. Luckily my counts were fine and I'm good to go for tx tomorrow. I guess this fever is something that I'm going to have to live with. It isn't as bad today as yesterday. Hope you are feeling ok today and no fever. I feel like maybe I over-reacted, but at least my blood work is done and I can go an hour later in the a.m for treatment. Take care all!!! Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?Congrats and good luck to you Shari! Karen-I hope your 6th and last is your easiest! Collector-right after I posted yesterday about how good I was feeling I felt like I was hit by a truck (again!!!). Sure enough my temp. was back to 100.1 and had the headache and sore throat again just like the first week after treatment. I feel better this a.m., but I have noticed that it always hits around noon for some reason. I'm nervous because tx is tomorrow and I'm afraid it may be postponed. If temp spikes again today, I'm not sure if I should call and get my bloodwork done today rather than in the a.m. before treatment. Luckily the cancer center is only 15 minutes away. I'll just put my car on auto-pilot!!!! Terri Dx 2008, DCIS, 1cm, Stage I, 0/1 nodes, ER+ |
