Nodes

Lindalou53,

I was so happy to read your post. I just did double mastectomy& aux. lymph disection a week and a half ago. Initial test showed I had 6 lymphs, but biopsy came back that 17/17 were positive and I freaked out, this was after I did 8 rounds of chemo. Did you do you chemo before or after and if you don't mind sharing what did you have? I did 4 rounds Cytoxan, 1 round Taxotere & 3 rounds Taxol.

Take care

June

Invasive lobular carcinoma

I am 40, single and have two children ages 18 and 15. I just had a double mastectomy a week and a half ago. I have bc on my right side and right after my first appt. with surgeon I made up my mind to do a double mastectomy because I felt it was the safest route to go and I don't regret it. I'm also doing recontruction so I had tissue expanders placed at the time of the mastectomy so when I woke up I actually had breasts the same size which I found comforting. You have to do what feels right for you. I wish you the best of luck.

Mastectomy w/reconstrcution

I just had a double mastectomy done on May 12th and they placed tissue expanders at the same time. I'm happy I chose to do the reconstruction at the same time, I actually woke up with "breasts" the same size as what I had and am only set to do 2 fills. I think the first 4 days were the worst where I used a lot of pain pills, but after that each day got better and today I actually drove my car.

Best of luck to you!

wigs and hair loss

I was 39 when I was diagnosed and was "scheduled" to lose my hair the day I turned 40. I have gone out and bought 5 wiggs and the best one I got was from Wilshire Wigs (you can look online) and it only cost me $78....best of luck to you, and remember, it does grow back.

Chemo didn't work!!!

Herceptin was never even mentioned to me. Also, the only PET and MRI that I had done was right after I was diagnosed, nothing done in between treatment & surgery other than the onc asking me if I thought the tumor was shrinking (which I did)  I'm looking for another oncologist over at City of Hope, UCLA or somewhere in Orange County or San Diego California so if anybody has an EXCELLENT doctor they can refer me to it would be greatly appreciated.

Chemo didn't work!!!

This is my first post, so please bare with me! I was diagnosed on 12/14/07 with bc measuring 5x5cm x 4.5cm as well as multiple (6) metastic lymphs and I'm HR positive and a stage III. I stared chemo (Cytoxan) on 12/26/07 and did 4 rounds every other week. I then moved on to taxotere and was only able to do one round due to a bad reacation that landed me in the hospital for 7 days. The last 3 trteatments I did was Taxol. After chemo I had a double mastectomy & lymphnode disection & went ahaed with the tissue expander for reconstructive surgery. The results came back a few days ago and my onc told me that the right breast came back with a high positive margin and that they removed 17 lymphnodes and all were positive and that it seemed the chemo didn't work and that the cancer spread. He's never had a case like mine and he's consulting with collegues to give me a treatment plan when I see him next. I'm really upset and am now searching for a 2nd opinion or a doctor that has dealt with a case like mine. Has anybody had a similar experience they can share. I'm looking for my light at the end of the tunnel.
