Tests, Treatments & Side Effects + Radiation Therapy - Before, During and After, Created: Apr 26, 2008 06:46 pm
Article on how curry helps the skin during radsI took curcumin prior to starting my radiation. The radiation techs had never heard of it before, and the doc just rolled his eyes like I was some kind of idiot. But after 6 weeks of rad I can honestly say I had no pain, no swelling, no blisters. Not even a "sunburn". The techs said after seeing my results they would start mentioning it to the other ladies, but I doubt the doc is going to allow that!! He didn't seem "herbal friendly". Looking for a February Rad TeamHad my radiation last year and I too had read about the research on Curcumin. I started popping 2 with every meal before I started the radiation and I never even turned pink!! I'm very, very fair and blonde. The techs told me later they really thought they would crispy fry me! So I don't know if it was coincidence or truly the curcumin, but its only a pill form of curry and certainly can't hurt. I still take it because there's some other reseach out there saying they are studying it for other preventative measures. As far as the braless thing, I was also told that. Got some really nice camisole tops with the built-in bra shelf....they work wonderful! By the way I got my curcumin on the web.....Pure Prescriptions. Make sure none of your lotions have that ingredient in it that comes along with the sunburn warning alert. Can't think of the name right now. And also do your stretching exercises!!!!! I stopped for awhile right after the treatments because i thought the exercises were a waste of time, but I paid for it when all of a sudden i realized I couldnt lift my arm over my head without pain. Keep doing them! My doc had me "write" the alphabet on the wall every day!!!!! Keeps you limber. Good luck ladies!!!!!!!!!! |

surgery and radiation?B72, sorry to see there were no responses to your request as I would be interested in the info as well. I am a 1 1/2 yr survivor and my 82 yr old mom was just diagnosed. She is totally dependent on her pacemaker and is now having the dilema of whether or not to have radiation after her lumpectomy. If you've gotten any other info on the subject, I'd be interested. Hope you are doing well. |
