Distended stomachDitto on the distended stomache. I assume it is the decrease in peristalsis and lengthened digestive time with chemo. I just feel fat which along with hair loss, wigs etc isn't fun. I agree with the acupuncture. It has helped me with the constipation and the nausea. My nausea is very bad on a/c and it has taken the edge off a little. Anyone have lots of nausea on a/c and find relief when they begin taxol? sherri DCIS/ 2 cm/bilat nipple and skin sparing mastect. 2-12-08/R complete node dissection 2/08; stage 2b/ ; 2/12 nodes pos/ E+/P+/Her2- |

Anemia on A/C Chemo UGGHformygirls, Yes, as a nurse practitioner, I think that the iron supplementation is not the answer but more like the Aranesp. It is a $3,000 injection that really really makes a difference in the shortness of breath, no energy etc you get about a week after chemo. It is normally given every 2 weeks but I felt bad the day after chemo and they gave it to me based on symptoms so I am hopefully going to get it every week if needed. The onc office has never suggested iron even though I have asked about it. I don't see how a little in your diet would be a bad thing though. I try to get some red meat whenever possible. Take care and I know how miserable it is! Sherri DCIS/ 2 cm/bilat nipple and skin sparing mastect. 2-12-08/R complete node dissection 2/08; stage 2b/ ; 2/12 nodes pos/ E+/P+/Her2- |

Anemia on A/C Chemo UGGHHello Heidi and formygirls, I am in a similar situation with the last a/c one week ago and will start taxol in one week. I have been so nauseated after every treatment for 10 days and the doc says my bloodwork is about 30% lower in RBCs and WBCs than the normal chemo patient. I am getting Aranesp for the RBCs and Neulasta for the WBCs. I am only hoping that the Taxol gives me some discomfort for a few days then normal feeling for the rest of the time. Nothing could be worse than the nausea I don't think. Good luck to you! Is Taxol worse the Adriamycin?Annie, Thanks for the humor! I have finished the horrible nauseating a/c rounds and on to the taxol. I can't imagine the taxol will be worse for me as I am nauseated almost 10 days on the a/c. I have a high pain tolerance and a heating pad! I hope none of us have recurrences. Take care and best wishes, Sherri DCIS/ 2 cm/bilat nipple and skin sparing mastect. 2-12-08/R complete node dissection 2/08; stage 2b/ ; 2/12 nodes pos/ E+/P+/Her2- |

Connecting With Others Who Have a Similar Diagnosis + DCIS (Ductal Carcinoma In Situ), Created: Apr 26, 2008 10:44 pm
NEW TO GROUPHello, new to the chat but I my own experience I gave it a couple days after being diagnosed (after my husband and I had thought for a few days) and we told our children that were 12 and 9. My son was getting ready to turn 13 and my daughter ready to turn 10 this past Feb/Mar. They have been extremely supportive, strong and have learned so many things about strength, illness, support etc. I couldn't imagine not making them a part of this family crisis early on. It does depend on their ages and how you feel they will be able to handle it though. Good luck to you! Sherri |
