Where are...

Hello Ladies. Good 2 C U all here. I finished chemo on the 4th. I am not doing radation. I have opted for a bi-lat since i found out that I tested postive for the brca1 and triple neg. I have been advised to let my count rebound 4-6 weeks. then get them off. I really want to wait till 1st of Nov so that I can get my house in order and participate in B/C awareness stuff during October. My church and my employer are involved in the making strides walk.

Otherwise I am doing well just waiting for my hair to grow back. Take care my sisters.

African American Women & Triple Negative Status

Hello Ladies. I just finished treatment number 5. One more to go. I just want to encourage those that are new to this thing that you can and will make it. Smile I thought back to  how my family and I felt after finding out that I would have to do chemo. Sad is the word. But I know that God has a plan and that plan is to give us peace as we journey thru b/c. I believe that attitude is everything and I chose to stay positive no matter what...Please stay encouraged if anyone needs to talk email me your number and I will be more than happy to listen. I have found comfort in being able to call friend and other family members that are surviors! Love ya all. Holla---Ro

Hello Ladies I hope all is well with you guys. This has been a week where I have been in the curve. I have seen this thing straight on some many days just trusting and believing God for his perfect healing. I have 2 more treatments left and hopefully the additional surgeries will be done by the end of the year. Stay encouraged Ladies. Thanks for all of the support..

African American Women & Triple Negative Status

Hello Ladies.. I hope that everyone is doing well. Just an update on the triple neg status. I have since found out that I tested postive for the BRCA1 gene. They are recommending a bilat-myst and the ooph. It was alot to swallow however I am still chosing to do what is necessary to live. I have just finished my 4th tc treatment today. This chemo comb. has not been to bad to handle on most day. I find that I am down in the bed asleep for at least 2 days. Not always the 1st day because I trying to live a normal life and participate in the activities that are important. I am able to go for a day or two then down for the count for 2. I will complete my treatment September 4th(6 rounds). I would then like to wait until December to have my bilatal. I am skipping the radation. Does anyone know if it is okay to wait awhile. The cancer was removed with the 2 lumpectomy surgeries? Stay encouraged Jeris and all!!!

I had a power port put in my chest on a friday and started chemo 2weeks later. It was a little uncomfortable at first. I have gotten use to it and could not imagine getting stuck in the arm for treatments each time. Feel free to send a private email with your number and i can call ya if you would like. Take care.

African American Women & Triple Negative Status

Hello Ladies! Sorry it has been awhile since my last post. I feel very welcome by all of the shout outsCool. I survived my 1st chemo which was last Thursday. I had the taxotere and cytoxan combo. I was slow on Thurs and Friday. On Saturday I attended a graduation in Mississippi then went to my uncle's 30th year church anniversary on Sunday. Monday I was down for the count. So down that I could not talk my self into going to the 75%off sale at Dillard's (I am a shopping pro)! Back to work on Tuesday but off on Wednesday. I could not sleep. Back at work today and feeling great. Bless you all.

Did Hair Come Back Better or Worse?

Hello Ladies. I just had my first chemo (taxotere and cytoxan). My hair has been itching up a storm. It looks like I have small patches around the hairline. My hair is still in tact. I purchased a wig today just in case my hair comes out. I had nice shoulder length hair. I recently had it cut in a cute sassy style.

Someone asked about the Carol's daughter products. I love them. I used them on my relaxed hair and my 6yr olds natural hair. You had to order the product previously but now you can buy them at select Dillard's. I will keep you guys posted on the hair thing. The nurse said day 14 or 15 is hairloss day.

Trip scheduled--dont know what to do!

Ladies this exact same thing happened to me. I was scheduled to go to Vegas the week of April 13th. After hearing the doctor say grade3 and its aggressiveness in young women. I made a decision along with my husband that Vegas will alway be that. I really wanted to go but most concerned with getting on with my treatment process. Take care. fyi I was able to get a full refund for my airline ticket. I had to fax a note from the doctors office.
