how about drinking?Help! Am I losing my freaking mind? Is the Debate It forum GONE??? I spent so little time there, but wanted to post tonight because on my way to work, then again on the way home, I hear the drug and hospital commercials talking about their cancer center stories...I just can't take it!!! I nearly re-live the whole experience each and every DAY!! Navartis, Sutter Health, Genentek (sorry for the spelling). Does anyone else feel this way? Do you hear these commercials, too? "This is where I heard the news; This is where I lost my hair; This is where I decided to fight....no one knows what the future holds for cancer patients, but we're fighting....etc." It's driving me nuts!
Whew - that was a rant. Cheers! Janie |

Starting chemo in Sept. 06Hello ladies! I started chemo in September 2004 and can't help but take a look at the chemo thread each September. Want to wish you all good, positive energy and send my blessings. Going through chemo can take it's toll - prayers to you all.
Drinking lots of water and taking your nausea meds as directed, is a big help. Sleep when you need to - walking a little each day is also supposed to help. I did this, but not sure of the benefit. You can do this! Janie 1.3 cm Stage I/Grade 3 HER2 negative/ER+ PR boarderline Lumpectomy/4 Dose-dense A/C, finished 10/21/04 38 Rads |

how about drinking?Hello Ladies!
No,I'm not drinking yet - only 9:30 in the morning here! (AH, but it's 5 o' clock somewhere!) Just kidding. I am just checking in - have been lurking, but not posting much lately. Welcome to the club kat! I think we are all Big Glasser's here! Love that RED wine. Actually, went out to dinner the other night and had a margarita with chambord. It was wonderful! Yum. Shel - sorry to hear you are dealing with the expanders. Hoepfully, you will be through this stage in no time at all. I am off on a vacation for the next few days! Woo-hoo! I plan on eating and drinking and relaxing the days away. I am going with my husband and another couple to the coast. Should be fun. HERO - I plan on staying away from fish; and drinking all night on the beach - LOL ![]() I hear what you are saying about husbands just not "getting-it." They don't, they can't, and they never will. Sorry, I don't mean to offend anyone, but my husband is wonderful (most of the time - lol) and HE doesn't get it! He tries to understand, but....it's a waste of breath. I have irrational fears - duh! WHo wouldn't? I don't eat red meat, but I use hair spray and drink alcohol. I guess because I am a walking contradiction, it would be impossible to understand. I have made choices on what I will sacrifice and what I won't, that's all. Sorry - I am rambling - really, not drinking, just rambling! Janie |

how about drinking?Just home and just checking in also - read most of the Unity thread. I suppose that's where the excitement was today. I am off work until next week so I will have to check in a little more often!
HERO! Where'd you go?? Your Oscar story was hilarious. I could just see that fish being carried around! Hey, I hear you about the drinking. I can't stand to be hungover - and the HOT FLASHES are just making me a mess! Maybe I need to inquire about some Effexor or Wellbutrin or SOMETHING! My onc is going to give me the sly-look when I ask him "What can I take so my hot flashes aren't so bad when I drink?" LOL! I wonder what he'll say? I see him in August! Lupron-type shot tomorrow. Gotta love that stuff. Janie |

That's funny. Marla, now I am going to have to check in at Debate It so I can see your posts! Too much. HERO!!! I LOVE your OSCAR story. That is one to remember. Was the husband okay?? It sounds like you had a great time not to mention catching a sunrise on the beach. Salute' Cheers to all - I am headed to Debate It to see what's up over there! I will only lurk (morbid curiosity) hehehe. Janie |

how about drinking?Hi Ladies - Just checking in! My gosh the Debate It thread has gotten to be ...urgh...uhm...well, interesting. Marla, you did good, lady! But I don't want to "Debate it"
![]() I just want to have a cold drink and dinner. I just had a thought - crazy, I know! - Do you think that someday they will talk about US on the DEBATE IT thread??? OOOOH - We'll have to keep an eye on that! LOLYou guys are cracking me up - it took me at least a half an hour to get caught up on today's events! Janie |

how about drinking?"Hit and Run" in the Debate It thread - now THAT's FUNNY!
That also happens to be my style - otherwise known as "The Wise-cracker" or the more lovable "Smart A$$". Either that, or I put my head in the sand (or wine bottle??) all together. I'm not much of long drawn out debate-type of person. I say live and let live - if you don't like it turn the channel; turn it off; don't talk to it; and definitely DO NOT try to change a stubborn person's mind - it only leads to ...well... the Debate It forum. Way TOO much stress for this gal. ![]() I'll take the rest of that Mondavi! Cheers. Janie |

how about drinking?Holy Cow - I just left the Debate It forum and I am stunned. Yowza - I am staying here where I can muddle in my sillyness and not offend. I just can't get that worked up over things anymore - so here's to you, ladies!
I guess I am having a sentimental moment - I am just glad we have this thread of ridiculousness and fun. Thanks! Oh- and CHEERS! Janie |

how about drinking?HERO - Were you missing your bra and panties this morning?
Well, even if you weren't, I hope you had a heck of an evening! Rosemary - I don't know if you have been to Santa Cruz or the Monterey area before, but if you do go to Monterey let me recommend an inn - The Spindrift. It's small, ocean views, right on canary row with lots of food, shops etc. Anyway, we stayed there for the first time this year (we usually stay at the Portola Plaza Double Tree, but they were booked - and more expensive!) We received the best service and best ammenities for us, than anyplace we have EVER stayed. If you can't tell - I was very impressed. Monterey is a bit further down the coast from Santa Cruz, but just thought I would add my 2 cents. Sometime in the late summer/early fall Capitola (small town next to Santa Cruz) has a wine festival. I went last year and it was fun - a lot of art and wine, right on the beach boardwalk. Beautiful. No idea when it is this year, but I am sure I will be in attendance. Thanks for your support ladies - you are right - we are all in the same boat on this journey - Let's enjoy! Cheers. Janie |

how about drinking?HERO - yeah - I hear ya. I have the same thoughts. If I recur will I regret that glass of wine or two I had with dinner; will I regret the 5 times I ate Taco Bell beef burritos etc. I am a worry wort - no doubt about it and, honestly, if I recur I am going to second guess my every decision - that's pretty much a given.
I just hope I have lived most of my life healthy and wise and the fact is, we don't hold the clock in our hands - a good message to remember from Diane aka 3Strikes. I hate that I am a worrier and it's something I try to work on. I hope your friend in chemo is hanging tough. Chemo sucks - that quesy feeling, no hair, dry mouth, no taste buds working, bad stomach, tired...I send my prayers to both of you. Janie |

how about drinking?Rosemary - I am partial to Alexander Valley (Sonoma County). A "light" red...hummmm..I have no good recommendations because my taste is for the heavy reds! A Syrah would be nice.
Did you know that Coppola winery sells champagne in cans?! It's called "Sophia" and it comes in little pink cans with a straw as an accessory. It's not bad! I know what you mean about "wine country" - my father is from Idaho and they also have their own "wine growing region" as does Texas (Grapevine). I actually had the best time wine tasting in Texas about five years ago! I was by myself and wondered into this winery, family owned and very small, sat down and spent the day drinking wine and visiting with complete strangers! It was a hoot. I can't remember the name now, but it was a quaint little house, down a small lane in Grapevine TX. The wine was quite good. Anyway, back to your light red...Beringer (spelling?) makes a "white" merlot that I hear is pretty good. Oh my goodness - I need to get off this computer! Back to housework and such. Take care ladies! Salute`! Janie |

how about drinking? You guys are cracking me up because the "dirty little secret" I have is that I LIVE "somewhere" IN WINE COUNTRY!
...ahhh, you ladies just reminded me that I have little to complain about; and A Lot to drink to! Cheers (okay, not quite yet - it's only 10a.m. here). I hope you have a wonderful weekend, gals. I will be checking out that SF trip. Janie |
