anyone on andogen?

After 7 months of taxol and avastin, no hair, and now losing my toenails and fingernails, the dr, after a great pet scan said we will begin andogen(sp)  Im a little worried about the side effects ive read about.  Anyone out there on it?  How is it?   I did get some good news.  I am going on sabbatical next semester and then i am retiring.  At 50 it seems too soon but i need some QOL  ya know!!

Surprise AVASTIN tx today!

i am on avastin, today i blew my nose and it was nothing but blood, but i thought it might have just been a sinus thing, it really wasnt a nose bleed.  I was on avastin before and had to be put on blood pressure meds b/c of it.  I am to on it twice a month.

Not too bad!

I have been through one treatment of avastin/taxol and one treatment of taxol only.  The double treatment slammed me pretty hard on the third day out, but the taxol alone wasnt bad at all.  Anyone out ther on the same schedule? If this works will they continue this three week treatment indefinitely?? its kind of inconvenient, BUT THIS WHOLE THING IS INCONVENIENT, WHO AM I KIDDING?? Cool

taxol and avastin

well i remember now about the third day after taxol being painful.  I have had a rather tough day, but im ten years older this time than the last time i took this soooo.....ive been really bummed about having to take it at all.  Apparently the cancer cells found their way around the Arimadex and so hormone therapy isnt working very well anymore for me.  My onco said this route is the most benign and that there is a 50\50 chance  it will work.   He said we will do three months, but he will know if it is working or not in two.  How long he will continue with the treatment if it is working, i dont know.  Im not sure what the protocal is.  He said it is not the same huge dose they give at initial dx.  and that i may not lose my hair...........id like to keep my hair this timeUndecided . Ive been having sort of a pity party today..........bla,,,

so discouraged I need some help

i just started on avastin and taxol.  The dr says the dose is so minimal that my hair may not fall out....who knows......who cares, id rather have air than hairSealed i had taxol 8 yrs ago with a/cytoxin and did not have any neuropathy that time and this dose is less so maybe none this time.  I had to be taken off of zometa due to osteonecrosis of the jaw, so i take 1500 of calcium and only and extra vitamin D.  Im hoping to keep things stable now.  this is my second time around i was dx with invasive stage 2 in 99.  hopefully we can stay stable now.

Urgent Info on bone mets

I was dx with bone mets only in April of 07.  I have been on hormone therapy for a year, (arimidex) and the little buggers figured out how to get more active anyway.   I have since changed to taxol and avastin.  Hopefully this will settle them down.  I was dx. with stage 2 in 99, and went 8 yrs cancer free.  My onco. says there is a 2% chance of long term remission. My understanding is that there is a good chance of long term stability with the drugs we have now and ones that are in trial are even more promising.  The goal is to keep the mets in the bone and out of the organs.  STABLE is the word.  i have pet scans every three months and i totally trust my onco so i feel positive.  I guess in the grand plan our days are counted and i will be here as long as God wants me here, and i KNOW where im going when i do "go"  There are many promising stories on the site here, keep in touch it will help you.

Is Taxol worse the Adriamycin?

I did well on taxol, minor bone pain, my hair did begin to grow back while on taxol. Anything would have been a breeze after AC!!  Good luck to you.

Taxol and avastin

Hi gang,

I have stage 4 metastatic breast cancer and i am beginning a regemin of taxol and avastin.  Has anyone done this? How was it?  What should i expect? My last pet scan showed increased activity but no new lesions.  How worried should I be.  I'm fifty, have a brand new grand child and would like to stay around for a while.
