Who did TC

I was potentially going to have TC but then the intramammary node was positive so now they are recommending AC+T.  But I read that TC may actually be better for triple negative and now I am confused.  I want to hear from others who are taking it and see what their stats are so that I can get better idea of what I should do.

Who did TC

Hi Ladies,

I am getting ready to start chemo and am still conflicted on the best chemo for my triple negative cancer.

I'd like to hear from those of you who have or had TC (docetaxel and cyclophosphanide) and what your diagnosis was (stage/grade/lymph/etc)

My stats are:

Invasive ductal carcinoma

lumpectomy with a positive intramammy node

negative sentinal nodes

 stage IIa

 .7 cm tumor

grade 3

triple negative.

Thank You!

Anyone starting chemo in June 08

Hi Ladies,

I am a June girl too.  I am set to start chemo on June 4th.  I am starting to get pretty scared and am wondering if I am even going to be taking the right chemo.  I am supposed to start on AC followed by T for 8 cycles.  I am triple negative and now am hearing that Adriamycin may not really work for triple negative cancer.  There is so much information out there - how do we know what is best.

I have ordered my wig and it's being custom colored now.  I will have it cut to my regular hairstyle on the day I go in to have my head shaved.  I really can't even believe that I am talking about myself when I say this.  Even though I have had my lumpectomy, tons of dr. appts, etc.... I still can't believe this is happening to ME!

Military Cancer Care

My husband is retired army and I am being treated at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA.  I have no complaints  at all.  Most everyone there has been wonderful.  I was able to have a 2nd opinion at the best Seattle (SEATTLE CANCER CARE ALLIANCE) has to offer at zero cost to me.  I have tricare prime and have not had to pay a dime for anything. I feel pretty lucky as I know co-pays can be very expensive.  As for wigs, I know tricare will pay some.  I heard 80%, up to $280.00.  I will be purchasing mine soon and will let you know what I actually get reimbursed.

Anyone starting chemo in June 08

Hi Ladies,

I am a June girl too.  I will be getting my port sometime next week and plan to start AC followed by T on June 4th.  I am triple negative- is anyone else triple negative?  I had one positive intramammary node but my sentinal nodes were negative so I opted not to have further surgery on the advice of 4 different surgeons.  I am scared but ready.  I have my wig appt tomorrow.  I am getting a real hair wig so tomorrow they will be looking at my hair color and will color the wig to match with highlights.  I will go back when ready to have my head shaved and then the wig will be cut to look like my hair.  I live in WA state and we don't get very hot summers so hopefully I will be able to wear it with ease.

More surgery and chemo - help

These past two days have been really stressful but I met with a new surgeon and spoke to my 2nd opinion surgeon - all surgeons agree that no further surgery is warranted so I am moving on the chemo. I have appts all next week for my port, MUGA test, etc... and the plan is to start AC followed by Taxol on June 4th.  I am scared but ready to get on with it at the same time.  Thanks for all of your input!

More surgery and chemo - help

Hi All,

I met with my oncologist yesterday and thought I would be finding out my chemo treatment only to be told that the surgeons and oncologists on my team are in disagreement as to whether or not I should have more lymph nodes removed.  I am triple negative, had a lumpectomy with a sentinal node biopsy.  The sentinal nodes were negative but there was a postive node found in my lumpectomy along with my tumor (0.7 cm - grade 3, invasive ductal carcinoma).  So, the oncologists think this node is a "sentinal" node and that I should have further axillary node dissection.  I don't really want to have further surgery and am fearful of lymphodema.  Won't the chemo kill any potential positive nodes that I have?

Also, I was given the option of two chemo treaments:

1 - AC followed by T every other week for 8 cycles

or

2 - TAC every 3rd week for 6 cycles

I am not sure how I am supposed to decide.

Thanks for any guidance you can offer.

Pathology- intramammary lymph node

Thank you ladies.... Can you tell me what you mean when you say intramammary node radiation?  Is that different that total breast radiation that I will have when chemo is finished?

Pathology- intramammary lymph node

I had my lumpectomy and sentinal node biopsy on Apr 28 and just found out that my margins were clear and the two lymph nodes removed were negative.  But there was an intramammary lymph node found with the tumor.  So, now what?  Even the docs were confused as this is not a common occurance.  They basically are telling me not to have more lymph nodes removed since the 2 were negative.  They are not recommending a mastectomy though I wonder if I should have one.  They are recommending a stronger chemo treatment than they originally planned ( I am triple negative ).

Does anyone have any other info on a postive intramammy lymph node with negative regular lymph nodes?

Thanks!
