Biography

Married, two children, one three-year grandchild, who brings joy to my life everyday since he lives in our house!

Work full time.  Thirty-one years working for State of California.

I had a mammogram in May 07.  February 08 I felt a pea size lump in my left breast.  Mammagram and ultra sound confirmed that there was a 1.3 cm mass.  Core need biospy confirmed breast cancer.  Surgery was on 3/3/08.  Node negative 0/15 nodes.  Yipee. That went fine and dandy except that I had the drains for six weeks!  I hate them.  I'm done with chemo as of August 15, 2008.  T/C=chemo.  I was doing Herceptin weekly and will start the three week regime on 9/5/08.

I also have very mild multiple scleroris.  Frankly, the DX of MS was more frightening that the BC DX.  Go figure.  I guess I'm more afraid of being disabled than dying.  LOL>

RASH AROUND EYES

I took Clariton with the last infusion...magic...NO RASH...NO RUNNY NOSE...NO RUNNY EYES..

If that didn't work, then the onc. was going to discontinue the herceptin....thank heavens.

 Thanks to all for responding.

RASH AROUND EYES

I have been taking Herceptin weekly since May 3, along with T/C.  I finished with chemo and have had one weekly infusion of Herceptin, then I start the three week treatment this Friday.

I've had the runny nose and eyes and slight redness around the eyes...I thought it was from rubbing my eyes.  After Friday's infusion, I have a whooper of a rash around my eyes.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Benedril (sp) does zip.  I see the oncologist on Friday.  Just curious  if anyone else had this problem and how did the onc. treat it.  Looking like Uncle Fester isn't very nice...lol

Starting chemo in April

Good Morning Ladies.  Just thought I'd join in the discussion.  I started chemo on May 2...Taxotere (docetaxel) and Paraplatin (paraplatin) plus Herceptin.  I felt good the day after, then it hit on Sunday.  I tell everyone that it's tolerable.  I am fortunate that I can stay home and sleep...plenty of sick leave.  I'm doing Herceptin weekly.  I'm trying to figure out if it gives me a headache or do I just have a headache....lol...

My situtaiton is complicated by have MS and I usually take Avonex (Interferon).  I've suspended that during chemo.

I wish you all luck and hope on this adventure.

Does anyone know what this might be?

i just got my new prosthesis last month.  I don't think you'll need whatever it is you have.  According to the nurse that fitted me, I have the newest model out there.  If you haven't seen one, you should check them.  I was surprised at how heavy the silicon breast was.  It has a nice layer of clear something that can go up against your skin and it somehow, takes the heat away.

I was pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the thing.  It can be inserted in a regular bra if you want or you can have a seamstress put in pockets of any bra.  The pocket was confortable too.

Good luck.
