How difficult is Chemo?I don't mean to be the voice of gloom and doom but I really encourage you to find people you can depend on to help you. I got very ill after the first tx, and really needed my husband to take care of me. Now, I like Annie am a lot older the you are (52, and over weight), and I also developed a really nasty breast infection unrelated to the chemo. Hopefully you will do fine with minimal discomfort, but be prepared for anything. I have lots of people praying for me, I'll pray for you! |

neulastaThanks Laura for that word. I too had my first dose of Nulasta last week and I didn't have any pain, and after reading the post I was starting to wonder if I had that to look forward to
Even with the Nulasta my WBC dropped to about 25% of normal, I developed a nasty fever and had to start on Leviquin for infection. I'm a little anxious about the next treatment, worried that I will get really sick again. |

Surgery in June?Hi All, Well it's been a while since I've been on this board. My surgery is over, it went well and no surprises (yet) I went home after about 24 hours, and I feel really good. I hate the way I look. I'm not usually a vane person, not into clothes and fashion. But I wish I hadn't done it. I know there was not real choice, but still... |

some cancer remains after surgeryActually because cancer treatment is an integrated team approach, it's not unusual for the radiologist to have concerns that are different from the surgeon. After my lumpectomy the radiologist was concerned about a lymphnode that looked unusual and wanted it explored before continuing with the radiation. The pathology report following the lymphnode resection show metastic ca to the axilla, so now I'm scheduled for a mastectomy. It never hurts to have another set of eyes looking into things |

Surgery in June?Unfortunately I am scheduled for June 10. I too would have liked to have the surgery before memorial day, but couldn't fit me into the scheudle. I am having a l mastectomy with lymph node disection, and tissue expander. I was dx'd with DCIS in early Feb, had lumpectomy. The radiologist was concerned about an unusual lymph node so wanted it explored before starting radiation. It turned out to be metastic breast ca. So now the mastectomy. This whole thing has not gone according to the book. I should be through with the treatment and moved on by now. I'm frustrated, confused and completely overwhelmed. |
