December 2008 Rads Group...

Hello all,

I was in the November group but an now moving on to December since I started the last week of November.  The worst thing for me is driving the 1/2 hour to radiation everyday.   So far everything else has gone great.  I know I will have some issues though after reading the September and October rads posts.

Can we do a Her2 roll call?

I like these posts so thought I would move it to the top.  I have hope!

Well I go to my simulation tomorrow.  It is a bummer to start radiation when I still don't feel better from the chemo yet!  I think some fingernails are going to fall off....I feel like they were slammed in a car door.  Anyway  can't wait to get it over with!

Flu shots?

I asked my onc. at my last chemo and they gave me a flu shot while I was getting my last infusion.  Made things easy!

OCTOBER 2008 rad group

What is the CT scan for during the simulation?  Is it to see if the cancer has spread?  I start on Nov. 18th but am curious about the ct scan.  Can someone explain it?

Well I am counting down the days til I go to my simulation....the 18th.  What is a booster?  Has anyone had to have their lymph node area radiated?  I am trying to decide if I should go to radiation in the morning and then go to work, or take off the afternoon and then go home.  Any opinions.  I teach middle school.  Will I be really tired or just a little tired?

taxotere,carboplatin and herceptin

I finished my last chemo on the 28th so  I am about 6 days out.  My blood counts are low, and I had to take off work the last 5 days.  For me the chemo seemed tougher every time.  I never really got my energy back after chemo number 5.  I have had diaharrea throughout the whole experience, neuropathy, achiness.  I was lucky and did not have any nausea.  I am just trying to get through this before I start Radiation on Nov. 18.  Good luck everyone who is still on chemo.

Illinois ladies facing bc

Just stopping by to say hello.  I finished chemo on the 28th...although I still will go for herceptin. So I am home recouping this week from my last chemo.  I start radiation at DelNor in Geneva on the 18th.  I am wondering when they will do a scan or something to tell me if the chemo worked?  Does anyone know about that?

Went to radiation Doc and he said that if they decide to radiate where my one node was it causes a 50% chance of lymphedema.  Those are pretty high chances of getting it.  He was going to consult with the other doctor's I am dealing with.  No decision has been made yet.

Anyone starting TCH in July

My fingernails are all brown....but I have one toe that has the bruising.  I think the effects continue a while after chemo.  Oh well at least we are finished.  I just got home from the radiation doctor and that was interesting to say the least.

Well finished my last chemo today, have appt. with the radiation Doc tomorrow.  Then come home and take neulasta shot which will cause me to be sick for a few days.  I go on with the herceptin until next July.  I am very happy to be finished with the chemo!

November 2008 Rads Group

Hello Everyone!

I finish chemo on October the 28th and will be starting rads in November.  A little overwhelming to think about 6 weeks of this...I suppose it will be like having a second job!  The discussion that the doctors seem to be having is that for sure they will do radiation on my breast, but they are not sure if I need radiation in the lymph node area.....that makes me nervous as I had one infected node and would love to be agressive.  Hopefully they will decide to do the node area!  Anyone else out there starting Rads in November.

I have the neuropathy and swollen feet in the worst way, The doc. gave me a drug called neurotin and I really don't know how much it helps.  My fingers also hurt big time!  Anyway I can't wait to get my last treatment over on the 28th.....a few more days and I will be through this!  Whew

Swollen armpit and chest pain

You should definitely get it checked.  A mammogram found a lump in my armpit first before it found the breast cancer.  That is how my whole situation started.  Hopefully yours is nothing, but it would be wise to follow up on the situation.
