80 % chance of it coming back!!!

Your attitude is the same as mine and that line of thinking is probably the reason you are a true success story. If you could tell your story in more disscussion and chat rooms (everyone you can) I know people hear absolutely NEED to hear its possible to overcome the odds. Too many people feel the odds are impossible to beat and it is consuming their life.

I hope to be just like you in my journey!

Thanks for sharing.

Avastin

Im on the Avastin study. At least I think I am. The study is blinded for 8 cycles. I have 2 more to go before I know for sure. I might just be getting placebo. Anyway I have no side effects. The theory is if it helps mestatic maybe it can help Stage III too. Just be advised the Avastin treatments last a full year on the study every three weeks after the ACT stops. The good news it does not inhibit your hair from growing back. My opinion is I want to try everything I can to get disease free. Maybe this could be a miracle drug and your wife would miss out on the opportunity.

I have stage III too and know stats can seem scary, but just look at this thread to see all the conflicting numbers. People are human and no one not even the best Doc in the world has a crystal ball into you. Focus on the 10 and 20 year survival stories. My own aunt was a 20 yearstage III survior abd breast cancer was not even what did her in, she died of diabetes related issues! So think positive and dont dwell on numbers faith is your best friend now. I'm in the middle of my ACT actually on the T for 12 weeks only 8 to go. Im scared too but try my hardest not to dwell or think negative.

Diagnosed Today

Wow! I feel like I just dialed up a family! Thank you all so much for sharing your very personal experiences with me. It really has made me feel less alone.I am an only child with no parents, so I really dont have many people to talk to about this. Once I get through my journey I promise to monitor this site in hopes of helping one person the way you have helped me. So guys right now I need you and your advice. I will write again after my appointment with the surgeon on Wed. I think he will schedule an MRI . Im sure what ever he is going to tell me will be upsetting so I may need to lean on my "new friends" when I return home.

Thanks again

Thanks for responding Pinko,

Can you tell me how your life changed after your Bilat? Are you married? Is sex a thing of the past? Was chemo unbearable? I just cant fathom being in a position of having no boobs and no here. I dont want to be negative but I really cant imagine anything worse.

Diagnosed Today

Hello,

My name is Karen and just found out today that I have IDC. Im more numb than scared but thought I may find some comfort here. I dont know all the specifics yet because I dont have an appointment with the surgeon until Wed.

My question is since IDC has spread out of the ducts what is the probability of  a lumpectomy vs a mastecomy being sufficient and is there any chance of escaping chemo with only radiation?
