possible fibroadenomaok i got my results and they are fibrous changes along with hyperplasia.i don't like the hyperplasia thing as i know what that means in the long run possibly.he wants to monitor me closely every 6 months with ultrasounds since that is the way they found the mass on my chest wall. the hyperplasia is in my duct he said it has not gone anywhere whatever that means.i am really scared because of my family history(uncle, grandma, and cousin).well i went and researched a high risk clinic close by me that even if u haven't been diagnosed they will see u (like if u have a family history especially with a man).it is at the hospital my new insurance is thru.(scott and white hospital in temple, texas). there was a link to email someone for any questions so i did and i told them i just had surgery and that i was concerned about my path report man i wish i asked for a darn copy. jeannie |

possible fibroadenomathanks julz4 i was wondering about a lymph node but it is acutally part of my breast is hurting also and hurts to touch but then it goes all the way to my arm pit.it is like the top side and the side of my breast is sore to the touch pointing towards the armpit and i can tell how swollen i am under my armpit too.i told the pa about that.i wasn't hurting till last night though.i have been having pain and that i knew was from surgery since i knew how deep the mass was but this is just different.i think my dr comes back from vaction monday so i am gonna call monday.i have been on the meds for a couple of days( i was a pharmacy tech so i do actually know i should see improvement, lol).yeah i am still careful with my incision .thanks jeannie |

possible fibroadenomawell i went to the drs wed because of the steri-strips bothering me so much and it is definitely an allergic reaction. then she wanted me to check with her again on fri to make sure the seapage coming from it wasn't turning into an infection and sure enough when i went back on fri she was pretty sure it was turning into one so i am on antibiotics.she didn't take off all the steri-strip affraid of the incision would come open so she only took off the part where it looked really bad.well last night i was so miserable from the itching i took the dang things off(bad i know)well the incision is closed up and the problem is coming from the allergic reaction.i wish i could get ahold of my surgeon but he has been on vacation and i don't go back till next wed for follow up and results from the mass.i am having lots of pain in my armpit and it is swollen and my dr noticed that yesterday i started getting this weird pain last night on the right side of my breast going towards my armpit(hard to explain).i know the mass was on my chest wall in the muscle but this swelling started to get worse towards the end of this week and this pain is horrible in the upper right quadrant of my breast and it hurts to touch.the incision is on the bottom of my breast right under my nipple. |

possible fibroadenomawe actually don't even know if that is what it is because the idiot radiologist that did the diagnostic imaging wasn't very good.my surgeon wanted me to have this surgey asap being my family history especially with an uncle that had breast cancer and prostate.my surgeon was pretty concerned about it.the radiologist that did the wire guided part and the tech that did the ultrasound part the morning of my surgery said my radiology report mentions nothing of a fibroadenoma but the tech said it says suspicious lump. i will never go to the radiology dept that did the original mammo and ultrasound i will only go to the the hospital that did my surgery as they are really good. |

possible fibroadenomahi, thanks, actually i am going to the radiology dept on the day before for the u/s.i don't know why when i have to go back to radiology the next morning.oh that is the way they confirmed it initially that it was a solid mass was by ultrasound.when they did a mammo they couldn't confirm what it was so they sent me into the other room for an ultrasound.my diagnostic mammo was done at another hospital. |

pain, lump, questionshi i am having mine removed as i have also infact talked to a couple of on the young survivors website about it and they were told 99.9 that it was a fibroadenoma and it wasn't. i have a strong history of breast cancer(uncle, grandma, cousin) so my surgeon is taking it serious.the radiologist didn't. the radiology report when i glanced at it wed at pre-op said probably benign,i am not taking chances.i am having burning sensations, throbing type pain in my breast and in armpit and down my arm sometimes and also inbetween my breast feels wierd like a tight feeling hard to explain.i would seek a second opinion.fibronadenomas are benign but they can be misdiagnosed.i contacted johns hopkins about my family history and the fibroadenoma on the website they have a ask an expert thingy and Lillie Hockney replied and she is a Nurse Proffesor and she said that i am a red flag and that the cells around it could be abnormal and to have it studied further given my family history.so that is just my experience.i am having surgery on 4 sept.i am really truly hoping that it is benign. good luck to u.oh mine is at the 7 o'clock position near chest wall in the middle part of my right breast. jeannie |

possible fibroadenomaok,i will let ya know and thanks. i went thru a simple lumpectomy when i was 19 but it was papable and this sucker is tiny as far as i know and isn't papabable.so it kinda scares me that this will be more of a surgery.i hurt some from the last one but i wonder what i am gonna expect from this one, yicks.he said he could just give me some stuff to keep me comfortable depending on how much digging he has to do(nice words for him to use,he scared me,lol),or he said he may end up having to knock me out completely if it is too close into the breast and chest wall.i told him nope knock me out, lol.after the experience at fort hood i don't want to be awake at all, lol,i am a chicken.i was totally awake for it and felt what they were doing and could see some and that was in the or,i mentioned this up above somewhere,i cried and told them to knock me out and they wouldn't.i will never be awake for a surgery after that experience,i am a whimp but that scared the crap out of me.well ok i will let ya know. jeannie |

Black Cohosh Not Estrogenic to BreastsHI, there is something called Femal that is totally safe for people that are at risk for BC. the website it www.florahealth.com. it doesn't have phytoestrogens in it and it is safe to use past 6 months as black cohosh isn't studied past 6 months, there are vertigo type effects with some people after 6 months. it is a little more expensive if u buy it from this website so i bought it thru vitahealth.com for a little cheaper.u can email them and ask them to send u a more detailed information packet to your home. |

possible fibroadenomawell went to appt today and got my surgery date tentatively for 4 sept.he wants to make sure that all will be ok with hospital tomorrow.he knows that the radiology dept is ok with that date already so i guess he just needs to make sure it is ok with the or(although he is the only surgeon at this hick town hospital)he also has to get the mammo films back and the u/s back since the radiology picked it up.i don't understand why when i am gonna be getting another u/s done or mammo done ( i hope u/s) since that doesn't hurt,i will already be hurting from the wire thingy being put in.i forgot to ask about the brca testing today but i am gonna ask him next time.oh i found out where the lump is exactly,( 7 clock and middle of breast near chest wall) we had problems with tricare again today but i got it fixed, they weren't gonna let me have the surgery at the hospital where he does everything at but we got it fixed (because it is a non-network)i said u paid for my tubal ligation there. my right breast is burning really bad right now don't know why.i forgot to mention that i have been having some symptoms but we had to deal with tricare while i was there so i was upset.well just wanted to update |

INSURANCE COVERAGE DICTATING OUR OPTIONS?oh gosh, well darnell hospital i can tell u isn't all that great.thats cool that he is coming here.fort hood itself is good but tell him to request of post medical care.Scott and white clinics are good and so is metroplex.yeah we are tricare southeast. to give u another example of the emergency care of darnall army hospital at fort hood.i have (had) a heart problem back in jan and on top of that i horrible broncitis well u can take certain meds (steriods etc with it)I had a tachicardia(wpw) type heart problem (till my heart dr fixed it in march.well i went to the er at fort hood in jan because my cough was so bad well they put me on a breathing treatment that sent me tachicardic and i told them that i can't take steriods given my heart condition, they said they were gonna try a derivitave(sp).i was a pharmacy tech for 5 yrs and i said hope i hope i don't have problems and sure enough i did.not everyone has problems i guess i am just a very unlucky one.on the other hand my husband was in aviation what does your son do.we live in the country out here its nice.my husband did 2 tours in iraq,i know how tough it is,it sucks for sure.i am glad he is home for good now. |

INSURANCE COVERAGE DICTATING OUR OPTIONS?luannh we are under the tricare (TAMP) it is a program that once u get out if u don't retire u only have it for 6 months and u can't use the military facility unless it is the er.well i will tell u that Fort Hood isn't the best place for medical care to begin with atleast what i have gone thru when my daughter was born and other things.they have messed up so many times on us since he got out.i have tried to talk to various people with tricare and they have all told me to have the gyn appeal it and according to the letter i have to have these other studies done before they would even consider it.well we are almost done with tricare so.my gyn said we shouldn't have any problems with the new insurance but he told me we need to get the breast issue taken care of first of course.thanks though. jeannie |

INSURANCE COVERAGE DICTATING OUR OPTIONS?Hi,i don't know if this is what u want ,but this isn't about cancer,it is about horrible female bleeding and big clots and ovarian cyst and horrible pain.my gyn recommended a hysterectomy and to take out my right ovary because of the pain.he also suspects i have adenomyosis which only can be cured by a hysterectomy. i have tricare(miltary insurance) they said i have suffered long enough (6 months) they want me to have a GI sudy and a mental study. there is nothing wrong with my stomach nor my mind. I can not take bcp's because of being high risk for stroke (migraines with aura) also now with breast problems i contacted Johns Hopkins LIllie Hockney and i was on bcp's for 12 yrs thanks to military drs she said i should have never been on them given my strong family history with having a man with breast cancer and others too.so i am high risk for breast cancer as well.well my tricare insurance is about to expire on 22 sept and we figure they also denied my hysterectomy because they don't want to pay for it.we have had lots of problems with them since my husband got out of the army and now we are under this thing called tricare prime (TAMP) it sucks.oh they approve me to have a lumpectomy though which makes no sence and it is at the same hospital which they said is out of network for where the surgeon wanted to do my mammo at and they denied it and my gyn wanted to do my 4th vaginal u/s at and they denied it.i have had a tubal ligation at this hospital and my original vaginal u/s there and then they deny me others and now will let me have stuff done there. |

possible fibroadenomathey are inserting a wire guided by u/s first because my lump(mass) is near my chest wall then doing a lumpectomy to remove it.it is about the size of a pea according to the radiologist(mammo,u/s)i had done a few weeks ago.i have a strong family history of breast cancer.i am gonna talk to my surgeon about doing the brca testing too.given my uncle is one of the people that had breast cancer and prostate cancer.i was told by lili shockney (johns hopkins that a red flag). |

brca testing and insurance ???HI,i was wondering if anyone knows if tricare(military insurance) pays for the testing.i just called them and they said i needed the procedure code to ask my doctor or nurse for it.i go next wed for pre-op for a lumpectomy(hopefully everything will be benign) was told by a radiologist it is probably just a fibroadenoma.however been to young survivors website and talked to a couple of girls on there and they were misdiagnosed by radiologist and dr and happened to be cancer and my husbands aunt was told hers was benign and wasn't so with my family history( uncle breast cancer ,prostate and various others, grandma breast cancer, cousin died from breast cancer, mom lump with calcifications right now and idiot dr in fl just watching since dec.)i don't want to take any chances. thanks |
