Biography

dx- Nov. 23, 2007 ...I found a lump in my breast in Oct. 2007 and ran to the doctor . I had a mammogram done a year earlier which came back normal (yeah right). I had a core biopsy done Nov. 6 2008 and came back as also negetive to cancer, but my surgeon doesn't leave anything to chance (thank god for that). So when I woke up Nov. 23, after my surgury, My Husband told me I had cancer, not the best wake-up call I've had. Had lumpectomy, chemo Jan - Apr. rads May - June 2008. Now I try to get back to as normal a life.

reexcision after lumpectomy

I had re-excision done almost a month after lumpectomy ( bs thought that one area was a bit close to margin) and I agree with Kosh it was easier than lumpectomy and it healed quite nicely.

The Canadian Connection...calling all canadian women

Hi Torchsong,

Of course you can post here....we are all one big family, Canadian, US or any other country.

Thisisme....I agree with Bessie, I too didn't have any wait time. As soon as my doctor saw my lump she sent me to the surgeon the next day, I had my mammo done 2 days later and then a week later had biopsy, surgery followed 2 wks after that. Mind you I'm in Brampton, not at Sunnybrook. I say if you doctor is very concerned get her to get on them...or refer you somewhere else.

Please help, anyone ever had innacurate core biopsy?

Hi Bessie,

The surgeon didn't tell me what kind of tumor it was...and I didn't ask ( I was still in shock and very scared at the time). When he called me with the results his exact words were " we found no cancer" I was so happy and relieved, so when I went in for surgery to remove the lump and they started to prepare me for sentinel node removel " just in case". I started to question my dx. Just before I went in to the OR I asked my surgeon again ( just to make sure) you did say the biopsy showed no cancer and he replied yes it showed no cancer....but there is always a chance that it is in the middle of the tumor. As it was in my caseFrown

Tendinitis

I also have a pain on my left hand just about the wrist....I went to the doctor and she gave me a mild anti-inflammatory for 3 days, it helped a bit, but I still have the pain every so often when I bent my hand forward. I'm keeping an eye on it and being extra careful with it...I'm hoping it will get better. My doctor did tell me that she thought it was tendinitis. Could this be the result of treatment????

Please help, anyone ever had innacurate core biopsy?

redjenn,

I too have a benign result after my core biopsy....but my surgeon doesn't like to leave any lumps in the breast. Plus he wasn't totally satisfied with the results. So I had a lumpectomy and 4 nodes removed and sure enough it was DCIS.

So sorry you have to go through this Frown. I certainly understand how you are feeling in regards to all the appointment and tests you have to go through. Never mind all the information. My decision was a little different not only did I have radiation, but I also did chemo and am now on tamoxifen. I was told I didn't need mastectomy just lumpectomy so that decision was made for me. I thought of it this way I would do what ever necessary to give me the best out come. Good luck with everything.....we are all here for you. You are not aloneKiss

Can menopause be induced to avoid taking Tamoxifen?

I too have been on tamoxifen for 6 months now and have no SE. I also haven't had a period since first chemo back in Jan 08. Onco told me that I was in chemopause and that tamoxifen would keep me there. So far so good.

hair falling out

We hear you.....who didn't cry when their hair started falling out. I filled the waste bin of my bathroom up  twice. I went out and got myself some very beautiful scarfs and hats, just to make me feel a bit better. I also bought myself a wig. It helped.....but remember so too this will pass. Hang in there.

We all know how you are feeling.
