Doctor visits

I was sitting here wondering..When all the treatments are done-how often do you see your oncologist?  Hw often if you're doing harmone therapy (pill)?

STOPPING Herceptin until after surgery?

I had my last Taxol/Herceptin on Aug.6th--mast on Sept. 10th and started radiation and Herceptin of Oct. 22nd.--every three weeks, I guess it was about 6 weeks after my surgery .

Time frame for Herceptin

I am =currently on Herceptin only--every three weeks.  My doctor told me I have to be on it for a year.  I was taking the Taxol/Herceptin treatment for 12 weeks, ended Aug. 6th, had surgery on Sept. 10 and now doing radiation.  He started me back on Herceptin, had my second one today.

I was wondering when they tell you a year does that include the twelve I already did or is it starting from now?

I forgot to ask my doctor, but I will ask him when I see him again.

Dropping Herceptin

Gigi

Are you getting the Heceptin at the hospital?

When I was going through chemo, I had to have the neulasta shot..it cost a lot of money, but my onc. ordered it...With that bill and the bill for all my treatments--my insurance only covered part of it, the balance is up to me...so I called the hospital billing dept., I qualified for a reduced rate on the bills-  See if you hospital has any plans for you to get..

side effects of Taxol

I finished my Taxol/Herceptin  treatment the beginning of Aug. and still have tingling in my feet.  I went to my medical doctor yesterday because the first three fingers on my right hand feel like they have pins and needles (always), she told me it could be neuropathy or a late side effect from the chemo.  Have to have a blood test to check  my B12 level-doing that next week.---Cathie, I also had harder chemo before this--4 treatments of Adrym and Cytox.

Does anyone know how long the side effects last?

How bad is Taxol?

To cp148

I read on your post that it took a long time for the tingling/numbness in the hand and feet to stop.  For you, how long did it take to go away..I'm having the same problem

Is Herceptin actually chemo?

Thank goodness for ports..It's so much easier with one, than having your veins stuck every time you go for a treatment...Everyone is different, so I don't know what side effects your mother will have, only time will tell...Is  she getting any predrugs witn the Taxol/Herc?    If you want to look up the drugs, I usually go on Webmd and click on drugs and then type in whatever drug I am looking up, it tells you everything you want to know..

Good luck to you Mom on Wednesday..

Is Herceptin actually chemo?

To Mother 78

I did ok with the treatments---I had 4 treatments of Adrym/Cytox. first and lost my hair, actually had it buzzed off since it was coming out--got a wig before I started treatment so they could match my color--actually it looks better than my own hair, so I will probably keep it for bad hair days.  Started the Taxol and Herceptin and did pretty good.  Had predrugs before the T/H--Adivan, Benedryl, Pepsid and Decadron--the Benedryl knocked me out, I would sleep during my treatment and again when I got hom..In Sept. I had a mast. and now doing radiation, so far so good, but I've only had four treatments-have 24 to go...Had my first Hercep. treatment last week, the doctor ordered all the same predrugs, but I drove myself I asked the nurse not to give me the Benedryl and did ok without it.

Hope your mother does ok...

Is Herceptin actually chemo?

To Mother 78 and Lisa,

Herceptin is not a chemo drug, but a drug you have to take if you're HER2.

I'm already on it.  I had it with a chemo drug (Taxol) for 12 treatments and now like Lisa I have to have it every three weeks for a year ..There is a good website for it-HERCEPTIN.COM..It tells you whatever hoj want to know about it.

Does anyone else have trouble sleeping?

I'm joining you in not sleeping...I haven't had a good nights sleep since March when I started chemo., finished chemo in August-had surgery, now getting radiation and Herceptin (every 3 wks) and still not sleeping through the night.  Hoping for a good nights sleep when all is done (MAYBE)

Loading dose with no benedryl or steroids?

Started by Herceptin this morning..Doctor ordered all the pre-med that I was getting with Taxol/Herceptin. Decadron, Zantac, Adavan and Benedryl...I had to say no to the Benedryl-my nurse checked with the head nurse and they decided it was ok--if I need it later on I can get it.  But so far no problems , also started radiation today..right now the left side of my chest looks like a road map (LOL).

Starting Herceptin this week

Cristic,

My first round of chemo was A/C, but I only had that for four treatments.  Then I started the Taxol/Herceptin treatments, I had 12 treatments--three weeks on then had one week off, till I was done. Now Herceptin every three weeks for a year...So you are not alone in this..

Starting Herceptin this week

I'm starting my Herceptin this week for a year---I was taking it with Taxol from the end of April to the beginning of August.  I was getting pre-drugs then (Adivan, Pepsid, Benedryl and Decatron).  Do they give you any predrugs with just the Herceptin?

Any Her2/Neu Starting Chemo in October?

Met with my onc. today and instead of waiting till I was finished with radiation...

I'm going to do both starting next week--in the morning Herceptin only in the Oncology Dept. for a year (one treatment every three weeks along with a blood test) and in the afternoon radiation for 28 treatments. Thankfully they are both in the same hospital.

Chemo and driving etc.

The only day I didn't drive, was the day I had my treatment--I got driven to it and then back home.  Other than that day, I didn't have a problem

Which doctor should I see?

Hi all,

I've been on Armidex for about two-three months now. I'm getting aches & pains, that my onc. told me I would get.  But I have tingling in my first three fingers of my right hand--I think it might be from the Armidex (that's one of the SE that you should notify your doctor about)/..  My question should I talk to my oncologist or my primary doctor about it?
