Life Insurance QuestionI have ins. through where I worked and I was able to do a waiver of premium because I am unable to work. This means I have the policy worth the same amount as when I was working. Now my former work place is swithching Life Ins. Co. Does anyone know how this will effect this policy? Will it more over to the new ins. co? Has anyone had this happen? Guess I need to make some calls about that. |

Life Insurance QuestionMy policy is 12 months to live also. Hard to say that is true when I've been living with mets for 10 yrs. I can get 75% of my policy but would like to leave it for my daughters but certainly is tempting. If only I knew when I had 12 months left. Need your help with cystoscopes or ureterscoping..KLynn, I'm with you on when the kidneys are gone, I'm gone too. Don't want to do dialysis and can't imagine doing chemo and dialysis at the same time. Your mom must have been one tough lady. Hope you can get the ins. business worked out. You certainly shouldn't have to pay. Good luck with everything. Kathy Dx IDC-1984, 1cm, 0/21 nodes, mets-1998, ER+/PR-,mets to lungs, liver, bones, ovary, abd. |

Need your help with cystoscopes or ureterscoping..Is there not someone in network that can do it. At least that would be one worry less. I have had both procedures done under heavy sedation. Didn't feel a thing or know anything till I got to Recovery-not much discomfort after either, main risk infection. It was a procedure I didn't want to have done either but I recommend that you do it if that is what the urologist suggests. I had hydronephrosis and hydroureter on the one side and it was caused by tumor pressing on the ureter and causing obstruction. I ended up with a bad kidney infecion as a result of this and ended up losing almost all function in that kidney. Don't want to scare you but kidneys are pretty important. I do have a stent draining what urine that kidney makes but my kidney function is well below normal and I worry about the same thing happening on the other side. It is really not a bad procedure to go through. Good luck and I hope they don't find a problem. PM me if I can answer any other questions. New Xeloda thread?Hi Amber, glad to see you posting. I had just checked your blog to see how you are doing. I"m glad you have a chemo plan in place. I found the Xeloda not too bad. A little of the hand and foot but not too bad and no other SE's. Definitely go for the scooter, I had one at Disney World in the spring and it was great. Allowed me to keep up with the family. Have a great time with your family at Disney. Another memory. Take care and hope the Xeloda really works well for you and zaps those tumors. My onc. is there and I am treated at Magee..Take care. Kathy PS I see from youir profile that we were born the same year. New Xeloda thread?lovetogarden, I went to Disney this spring and rented a scooter. They are wonderful and I know I'm an invalid so it didn't bother me at all. I loved it and could keep up with my family. I see you are in PA. Me too-southwestern. What part of the state do you live in. OK, Girls, I Need OpinionsBethie, I'm glad to that you were neg. and i'm sure you are right about other genes. I know a woman in her mid 40's now, diag with BC about age 40. She also tested BRCA-. Her mother died of BC as well as at least a couple of her paternal aunts,. Her sister-late 20's or early 30's was recently diagnosed. There has to be some genetic thing going on with them. Take care. The Recession and Social Security BenefitsStephanie, I think our benefits are safe for now. Not so likely that they will be when our children are ready for them. Maybe the gov. can bail out their own SS system as well as the stock markets, banks, GM,etc. Dx IDC-1984, 1cm, 0/21 nodes, mets-1998, ER+/PR-,mets to lungs, oiver, bones, ovary, abd. |

OK, Girls, I Need OpinionsBethie, Sorry you and your daughter are going through this. I hate this disease also and with 2 daughters, I want it to leave them alone too. No experience with what is going on with your daughter but I'm wondering if you have had genetic testing and if that would make a difference in the testing they would do for your daughter. Prayers coming your way that everything is fine and it is just a cyst. Kathy Dx IDC-1984, 1cm, 0/21 nodes, mets-1998, ER+/PR-,mets to lungs, liver, bones, ovary, abd. |

How Many Stage 4 Girls are getting SS disability..momtoacat, You will get approved with no problem. I think some SS offices are busier than others and that is why it takes some so much longer than others to receive benefits. I had money deposited into my checking account 8 days after my appointment with them. That was the back money they owed me and then I started receiving the monthly deposits. One good thing, they are always there on the day expected. The bad thing, would be able to make more money than I receive if only I were still able to work. Hope you are well enough to enjoy your time not working. To me, it just feels like early retirement but I'm 59. Dx IDC-1984, 1cm, 0/21 nodes, mets-1998, ER+/PR-,mets to lungs, liver, bones, ovary, abd. |

Question about bone mets and risks to other organsI would say yes. Not because it is bone mets but because you have any mets and that means the cells are out there. Hopefully they are being beaten back by your treatment but it just seems that most of us end up with multiple areas of mets. Just my idea. Hope this is not the case with you. FREE house cleaning for CA patientsThat is a great service for the short term but it looks like it is not available in a lot of areas. Also they will provide cleaning service once a month for up to 4 months. It is a service that a lot of us could use for life. Hopefully it will be expanded to include more areas and perhaps with a donation they could extend length of service time-in the future that is. Great info Laura (that is my daughters name). abraxane failedMy white blood counts were low with Ixempra about week 2 but back to normal in time for the next treatment. Also the hgb and hct dropped some but not as low as with some of the other chemos. I got Aranesp as couple times to boost that but no transfusions. I did get a lot of neuropathy in feet and hands from the Ixempra-had 9 cycles -every 3 weeks. Just finished that and am on a short chemo break. Good luck with the Ixempra. Hope it really stops the progression for you. Dx IDC-1984, 1cm, 0/21 nodes, mets-1998, ER+/PR-,mets to lungs, liver, bones, ovary, abd. |

Whew ! such a low !River, I am here. Mets to liver for 2 1/2 years. Y
es, that black hole is hard to climb out of some days. Hang in there. I know the chemo stinks but I actually am on a short chemo break after about 2 1/2 years straight. Maybe you could talk your onc into a short break to get you feeling better. Thoughts and prayers are with you for feeling better. Stage IV to Stage Ianitach, I looked up my paperwork and the physician's part asks -Does this medical condition prevent the borrower from being able to work and earn money in any capacity? Yes or No and If yes, when did the borrower become unable to work in any capacity? Also has a place for a statement to be written on what is the borrower's diag. and present medical condition and how it prevents them from working and earning money in any capacity. I am trying to get forbearance on Parent Plus but this is also the paper work for student loans. Even if you are working now, it is something to keep in mind if the time would come that you are unable to work. I hope that doesn't happen and you continue to be well enough to work. Hip Issues...would love some feedbackJanis, How about having your doc order just a regular X-ray of the hip/femur. That would show any fx and would show mets as well. I did have a hip replacement in 2003 because of a fx. below the hip joint-sub trochcanteric. I had 3 IM nails in before that and they esch broke because of the bone fx and non healing of that. It is very painful and difficult to walk although I did walk on it before I found out about the fx. I think an X-ray would be a good place to start but the pain is likely from the increased excercise. Take care-sorry you have been having so many problems-I hope things will be better.
